We're planning on taking delivery of our Gravity GT in Scottsdale AZ (whenever that might be) and start a road trip back to Florida, visiting the Grand Canyon, Palm Springs, Vegas and various Friends and Family along the journey. 🥳

My SA emailed to say that we'll be responsible for sales tax in both FL and AZ. When living in NH we took delivery of two Airs in MA and not required to pay sales tax there (and NH has no sales tax). Both vehicles came with 90-day temporary AZ registrations and we re-registered in NH.

From what I found online (ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude), AZ might collect a Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT) at the local City/County level (less than 2%) but probably not at the State level. And, any Sales Taxes paid outside of FL (ie, AZ) would be credited towards the FL Sales tax (6%) when registering the vehicle. I also plan on calling the AZ and FL DMV; wish me luck. 🤞

Q: Would anyone have real-world experience taking delivery in Arizona and living elsewhere? .. especially Florida 🤔

Thanks /keith

I purchased a Lucid Air that I picked up in Chicago and registered in Florida. It was a lease, and I only paid FL taxes. Not sure if AZ is different, but I think you only pay taxes where it is registered.

You can avoid Arizona transaction privilege tax:

90-Day Non-Resident (Drive Out) Permit

A 90-Day Nonresident (Drive Out) Permit allows a person to drive their newly purchased vehicle out of Arizona for registration in another state. You will be required to show your out-of-state identification and the dealer invoice or assigned title. The fee is $15 and the permit can be purchased from any MVD or Authorized Third Party office.

Thank you Steve,

I'm pretty sure this exactly what we received when we got our Airs in MA .. and remember a $15 charge in there.

Found the form we had signed in the purchase agreement:
