Gravity Delivery Discussion

Mine is also not level. It’s really annoying. In 3d projections to get the proper depth you need to feed slight offset images to each eye, but being a tilted image, you need to tilt your head. This would be somewhat fine if the reflective surface was flat and perfectly vertical. The windshield is not only non-vertical, but also curved. This causes multiple vergence (eye rotation to align gaze on the same 3D point in space) issues. Also bumps in road cause the display image to jiggle - maybe they have not tightened it down properly or have soft bushings.

[Maybe this should be its own thread]
I agree the curvature of the window is probably what is resulting in the perceived tilt. The reflection of the HUD lens on the windshield resulting in artifacts isn’t helping either. It would be nice if there were a tilt/rotation adjustment similar to the vertical height adjustment (which is still too high). Fortunately, I have not noticed any jiggle.

I do think the Gravity HUD deserves its own thread…since I don’t have the HUD, I don’t feel right starting the thread, but do think it would be helpful.

Yes, limited options on Tesla. Doesn't negate the other manufacturers that had multiple options though and managed to deliver to pre order buyers before building up inventory. Lucid chose to offer the Gravity with as many options as they did (too many, some of them should just be standard) and chose to offer build to order and is now choosing to build a bunch of cars that aren't even selling before fulfilling customer orders.
I talked to my SA a little while ago and he confirmed what many of us have thought. Lucid has been more focused on these random batch builds and not focused on fulfilling orders because they are hoping that many of the order holders will compromise their order spec and just take one of the available vehicles. Problem is, that even if I could find a compromise vehicle I might accept, 90% of the available vehicles come with a $2000 additional delivery fee. Sorry but this seems like a money grab to me.

"We have to have a bunch of available Gravity to buy for the huge rush of people wanting them when they see the masterpiece ad we did with Timothée Chalamet."

-probably at least one person in Lucid marketing

(and yes I'm being overly sarcastic but I've dealt with a lot of marketing people over the years so I can 100% imagine someone at least thinking this lol)

There’s no way an SA would know this or the strategy. They’re relatively “low level” employees at Lucid. Not trying to sound like an a-hole, but only more senior folks would really know.

Agree.
There's can sometimes be a difference between facts and opinions.
An SA's possible opinion doesn't equate to a Lucid fact.

Several of us have examples of SA opinions, seemingly presented as facts, being false.

It was not said as an official “Lucid Statement” but rather dropped off handed while discussing my frustration in order fulfillment and the random cars on the Available Vehicle site. He did mention a meeting with Lucid management discussing order fulfillment. Basically, orders placed after September should be told don’t expect until 2026.

Ok. Well, if that means they still have meaningful backlog for GGT, that’s great.

Apparently, not good ones.

While some people have reported inconsistencies regarding orders and inventory vehicles, none of us knows the actual cause of this outcome. There are many possible reasons, but we have no actual data and thus no way to judge. One fact we do have: Lucid has produced just shy of 10K units so far this year against a target of 18-20K, which means Q4 production has to double the previous 3 quarters of output. I think it is reasonable to assume that the push to meet the stated production goal may have many intended as well as unintended consequences. But, as I said, there are no facts to prove this hypothesis.

In a related development, Lucid announced yesterday they will be working with Nvidia on AI-based manufacturing optimization. I'm certain AI will solve all of the issues

They tried 3 times to get us to compromise

I was supposed to get my car delivered today. I checked in with them at 5pm yesterday and was told car had error and needs a new battery pack. Ugh. This is after it was QC at AZ and then shipped to Roswell where it also passed inspection. (Was going to ship 2 weeks ago until they realized my drivers license address needed to be updated to current address for lease to go through). Just turned in rental car...took day off work...ugh. I'm pretty angry as if they had QC'd properly 2 weeks ago at Roswell, they could have fixed this while I updated my DL. It obviously didn't break sitting in their parking lot.

But now I'm even more nervous about getting a lemon and being 4 hours from nearest SC: Does anyone have experience getting a new battery pack? Is replacing it possibly going to cause other issues? Difficulty level?

Not a good start, Lucid...

BTW-They are telling me a week delay to get the new pack and install it. Sound right? I sure hope so...

I had a similar experience at the Roswell SC with my car being delayed twice over the course of a week. In my case it was some faulty sensors in the steering column preventing Dream Drive from engaging. I was frustrated and disappointed with the delay. I felt this should’ve been caught at the factory. However, having read about all the issues with fobs, drive units, etc. I told them I want the car 100% right when I picked it up, and to take the time necessary to make it perfect. Fortunately, I only live 10 minutes away. I’ve had the car about a week. So far, so good. There are at least 30 cars on the lot at Roswell. I think there were 4 or more customer deliveries on the day I picked up, and more cars coming inbound rolling off transports. They’re delivering cars all over the southeast, not including Florida, so they’re very busy. I know the wait is frustrating, but it’d be more frustrating to return the car from 4 hours away. FWIW, the Roswell SC seems pretty well run. There were some other minor issues with my car, like Sirius not working, that they fixed on the spot.

I think I’d want to know which battery pack and location in the car. I wouldn’t be thrilled with the seats and carpet being removed, but the battery is a critical component of the power train, so hopefully the car is designed to get to them somewhat easily.

When did we start believing car salesmen

QC is non existent I swear. There are so many of us that had broken car delivered on day one. My own, personal experience, is that Lucid will deliver you a broken vehicle and fix it later if you don’t catch them.

It seems one of the key issues for QC is several items don’t fail immediately. So, they don’t drive the car enough to find the real items and they’re rushing to deliver. Given the issues, while not standard, they should probably hold each car for a week or more after production for a longer period of testing. They could also stop production and deliveries for now, but they’re not mug ping to do that.

I do not believe they’re sending cars out with known issues as that’s insanely expensive for them to fix once they’re in the field, overwhelms SCs and pisses off customers AND reviewers.

Having had my Gravity for more than three months now, I KNOW there are issues that pop up days/weeks+ post delivery. No one would be happy with additional delivery delays, but folks are definitely MORE unhappy when their new car doesn’t work.

No way. Maybe once they get the pack it’s a week to install. It’s a massive thing that’s challenging to ship and they don’t just keep extras lying around. They’ve been way off on timing for shipping parts for my car and for others here and the battery isn’t just a window actuator.

Maybe they’ve improved significantly over past month, but I’d expect to wait much longer than a week. Think three weeks or more.

I think @9point81 or @bryway is waiting for their second row seat replacement still…

they've been doing it this way for years. They have the QC policy they want.
