Gravity Delivery Discussion

HUD Question

Picked up my DE today. Only one key, which surprised me this late in the game (the other is on its way). The SA did a good job walking me through the car. Everything seems to work. However, when I left the service center I noticed that the HUD display didn’t seem quite level. It looks like it’s angled up and to the left about 5 degrees. It’s quite noticeable, at least to me. I turned around and immediately when back to the service center and asked the SA to drive it. He thought it was level. He says if you slouch down in the seat it appears less level. So, he suggested I raise my seat up. I am about 5’10”. I tried this on the way home and it maybe helped a bit, but the HUD display doesn’t appear level with the dash, top of the speedometer display, hood, or the horizon. Admittedly, everything in the car is curved (dash, display, hood, windshield), so maybe it’s supposed to be that way. I’d be interested in how the HUD appears on other cars. Please give me your feedback. Also, if there’s anyone in the Atlanta area with a HUD I’d love to meet up to do a comparison. I know there’s no HUD adjustment, other than raising and lowering the position.
My HUD is not leveled either. I've asked the Service Center team and was told that there is nothing they can do at this point. I need to give the Service Center at San Jose a round of applause as they are quick to respond and address several issues for me, but this one we have to wait.

I can’t tell if you’re being serious, but I will answer. It will not work anywhere in car except in that one spot on windshield.

If you live in a front license plate state, as I do, you can opt to get the license plate transponder. I think many states are actually moving to no transponder at all and you just sign up with your license plate. They’re taking a photo of the plate anyway, so they can charge you the “normal” price if you sign up versus if you just blow through it with no transponder.
The Pay by Plate in Mass is more expensive than the transponder. (Don’t forget to update the vehicles on your account). A bumper mount might be worth it, even if it works 50%

Thanks for pointing this out. Ok I guess I’ll find out what if a November loyalty discount survives. Really sucks though since I was ready to take delivery Friday and they weren’t, and now they are giving me less than a week to take delivery (they were ready to schedule but said earliest day Sunday or Monday (yesterday/today).

For the $7500 my understanding was that Gravity orders placed before 10/1 would get $7500 credit if delivered by 12/31.

I am being serious :). The service told me that the E-ZPass won’t read if it’s placed under the camera because it interferes with the E-ZPass system. So why not mount it under the sun visor? What’s so specithe al about that one spot, other than it being farther from the car’s camera?
I don't have front license plates. Decided not to drill holes

The windshield has a coating on it for tint and other “stuff” - folks on here know more than me. The car has all sorts of shielding for the electronics, etc. The only place on windshield where there’s no shielding is that little spot next to the cameras on the right. Folks have tried other spots and, if you look closely, you can see the difference in the glass in that one spot.

Windshield and roof will block all sorts of things, like my RFID parking tag for work - which I now have to wave outside my window to get into garage.

Got it. Thank you for explaining.

This is a convenient excuse but ultimately kind if of a BS cover for organizational dysfunction. I have proof.

I ordered mine in February, switched to a DE in April, went into “production” with a VIN in August. I still have no car.

I watched a half dozen people with exactly identical builds, some who ordered as late as June or July, get their cars before me. Mine is still “in production”.

I sent an angry email last week threatening to cancel, and was instantly matched with a completed car of identical specs to mine. I’m told it’s in transit now.

Why was my car in production for 3 months? Why was there an identical DE already complete? Why was it okay to bump me into that car? None of that is justified by supply chain or tariff excuses.

Perhaps I should just be happy to finally (fingers crossed) be getting my car, but the process has been … disorganized at best.

It's clear they are experiencing numerous constraints on production. I can't say if that accounts for all of the production issues, but your experience sounds awful.

I ordered mine the day Gravity orders opened (11/7/24), and I don't have mine either. But, it is finally scheduled for delivery 11/3. It's definitely frustrating.

I've noticed this too, but wasn't sure if it had to do with the ride conditions. It doesn't always seem tilted.... it's so minor I haven't even mentioned it, as I assume there's going to be some sort of major HUD service bulletin when the AR features are enabled and nothing works.

I call BS on this statement. There was an online Gravity this weekend that was an exact match to mine (that is on order) with the exception of it having Platinum vs. Stealth. There is no way that the Stealth trim would be “constrained”, so the only reason this was built vs one with Stealth is that they are building cars without even looking at the order list.
You have raised a separate issue to the one I was responding to. What I said is true, and I did not say, nor do I believe, that it is the only problem wrt production.

To get the $2,000, you have to take delivery within 7 days of them telling you it’s ready AND take delivery by 10/31/2025, per the website. It’s said that since they came out with the loyalty credit for Gravity.

No idea about the $7,500 credit timing. For the Airs, they’re saying delivery by 10/31, but I know they “grandfathered” certain Gravity orders.

It does sound unreasonable, though, because I would bet they will continue with the loyalty credit in November anyway…I don’t think they’ll actually pull your discounts, but stranger things have happened and they clearly have challenges with their internal invoice systems given all the noise around documentation fees changing, but changing back…etc
I was told the 2K loyalty offer for Gravity only applies to inventory vehicles. Have you seen it applied to orders?

Got it. Thank you for explaining.
Assuming Lucid is doing the same thing Tesla does (which has the same issues), the windshield has a metallic coating that reflects IR rays to help reduce cabin heat. This also blocks RFID transponders and radar detectors. I assume that's why they created a "port" in the coating to allow signals to pass through.

I was told this too, so when I placed an order for a on site car I got the discount. But then they found a defect in the car and needed to hold it for repair. They offered to apply the discount to another in-production car of my choosing. But now it seems they are threatening to take that away. :(

I am scheduled to take delivery on Wednesday so I haven’t had a chance to see the HUD in the Gravity in person yet, however I had the same impression with my Polestar 3. I ultimately came to believe that it was an illusion because of the curved dashboard and other items and got used to it. Will see if the Gravity is the same.
Not sure if you’ve tried this, or if it is worth the effort, but I would be curious if you sat in the drivers seat and held a level in front of your face, If the hud would actually be level.

Does anyone else notice their car taking a long time to heat up?
It was around 45°F outside today, and it took about 10 minutes for the cabin to reach 69°F after I turned the heat on Auto from the app. Just wondering if this is normal or if something might be off

In general, I find the AC rather vexing. It may be operator error, but I struggle to get it to do what I want it to. Auto doesn't really seem to work, and sometimes it doesn't seem to want to blow hot for a while. It will just blow cold air at me for a long time.

Yes, same issue. I wonder if I need to bring the car to service to have this checked.

When I ordered, I asked about the process and was told that it's not building exact configurations in the order they were placed. Apparently Lucid builds batches of a specific configuration and then tags people to those cars based on when they placed their order. So if I ordered after you but my configuration was in a batch that was planned to be built ahead of your configuration, I would get mine before you.

Anyone have a name to can call for delivery? My friends car is in but they are telling her to go to plainview to pick up from Connecticutnearly 3 hours of fighting through NYC. She thought white plains but they said no. She is thinking of canceling her order. This is really horrendous customer service and support. DM me if you know someone up the food chain at Lucid to try to make this a bit easier.
