Gravity Delivery Discussion

generic wireless charger + iPhone = phone heater
Just unplug wireless charger and tape down a MagSafe charger. Still gets warm but at least it charges your phone.
Well my Samsung Fold got warm too, but it didn’t stop charging - just the iPhone stopped

I wonder how much of a discount you could get tomorrow if you showed up to an SC with an inventory Gravity, with a blank check, ready to buy on the spot all cash…
No discount, I offered my SA I will fly to Natick to buy their Quantum all cash, but asked them to waive the $2k transport fee to Torrance - still no

I did it with Rivian about two years ago and got $2,500 extra off. I wouldn’t be surprised if Lucid couldn’t figure out how to do it even if they wanted to …🤣

Check out discussion in accessories thread.

I am taking my Gravity to LinerX tomorrow so they can take measurements and then offer to folks.

I’ve had all sorts of mats across our cars. I like WeatherTech, but think they’re really over priced and fit hasn’t been what it used to be. The Lucid all weather mats are pretty nice. That’s what I have now.
I also ended up with the Lucid all weather floor mats.

Here is a cautionary tale in case you are financing and trading an Air towards Gravity. I decided to use PenFed for financing as their originally quoted interest rate was pretty good, 5.54% compared to BofA 6.25%. What I did not realize is that they are rather old school and take a LOT of time with things. Unfortunately Lucid financial services failed repeatedly to generate a correct purchase agreement showing either the down payment I had already made, the correct sales tax, or the updated trade value for my vehicle. This caused PenFed to refuse to finance the lower amount requested because the Lucid Purchase agreement and my financing application had two different numbers for expected $ due from lender. I didn’t want to delay things further (it had been many hours back and forth over 5 days), so I agreed to borrow the higher incorrect amount on the purchase agreement so that PenFed would disburse the $, and Lucid would pay me back the remainder as a refund, so I could actually pick up my car. What I did not realize is that PenFed sends a physical check via FedEx (not overnight) with 2-3 business day delivery, and STILL had not mailed the check out as of 10AM this morning. So I decided to say screw this, I’m not waiting for “check is in the mail” to get my car so I cancelled the loan with PenFed, and instead applied via Bank of America which resulted in rapid approval and 5.49% rate so better than PenFed, and sent the approval letter to my SA. What PenFed couldn’t accomplish in nearly a week BofA seemed to be able to do in an hour. The service people at PenFed were lovely and helped as best they could, but the issue is I needed to take delivery of the car due to a planned trip where I needed 7 seats and was hoping not to rent a car last minute for additional expense. So if you got lots of time on your hands, sure do the credit union thing but between Lucid Financial (they are not Lucid motors but a subcontracted entity) screwing up the purchase agreement repeatedly and PenFed unable to allow me to borrow a lower amount and then taking days to send a check, I lost my patience, and I’m sure made my poor SA think I’m crazy with the frequent texts and emails. Lucid sales people are great at least and I appreciate their patience in accommodating this stupid situation created by Lucid Financial and a slow credit union.
I also went with PenFed and they didn’t require any paperwork from me until after I already got the gravity…thankfully as nothing went smoothly and I was dealing with a lot…dad in the hospital, dog dying of liver failure and having to be put to sleep, time running out on trade in offer, travel plans going awry, not getting a correct sales agreement repeatedly, penfed people (super nice) not sharing all the info so causing lots of surprises, gravity refusing to accept an update and no one could figure it out, and I am sure that I have forgotten some.

Since I didn’t have a sales agreement, they did send the check for the amount I asked but I put down almost half of the sales price so maybe that is why (or they felt sorry for the lunatic who was losing her mind). They said they would print it and send it the next day but my begging and pleading must have worked as they sent it the same day and I got it the next day and then couldn’t get the gravity since it was being stubborn.

I was, honestly, losing my mind but everyone (lucid and penfed) really stepped up and made it all come together.

I am glad it worked out for you in the end too. Such a great car that all the stress is mostly forgotten. 🙂

My goodness I’m sorry, what a chaotic storm of trouble all out of your control, with losing your dog and sick dad. Mine is merely a pile of inconvenience and confusion, without those added stressors.

Ironically PenFed told me on the phone I wasn’t getting check for the car until Thursday, but then the check went out overnight even though PenFed said they don’t ship FedEx overnight and is supposed to arrive via FedEx tomorrow. And yeah Lucid still has yet to get the purchase agreement right, I think I’m on my 5th one now? So I have no idea whether I’m going to pick up my car tomorrow evening or not. I hope it turns on at least, unlike yours 😵‍💫. Hopefully I’ll be able to commiserate with you soon about a working amazing vehicle and not continue to commiserate about an insanely disorganized and confusing sales process.

I hope you get it soon. Are you going to go with the BofA loan and return the check to penfed? I really liked the penfed GAP policy and they were the cheapest rate so I am glad it worked out but with BofA being cheaper for you I am just curious which you will go with.

When lucid called to tell me they had to postpone delivery the first time I was literally in the parking lot when I got the call (about an hour early). They were trying so hard to get it to me they scheduled again for the next afternoon. The next day they called first thing in the morning to warn me that it may not happen as scheduled (it didn’t) but the 3rd time was the charm. I have been so fortunate to not have too many troubles, at least not enough and not bad enough to make me not love my car. In the end, it was all worth it, for me.

Thanks much for the info. I'll see if my local ppf installer carries it
Actually, only handful of installers are authorized in each state. Here is AZ one in in Scottsdale (Cactus Auto Tint) and one in Tucson (Discount auto tint)

Well I’d asked PenFed to cancel the loan because I wasn’t going to get the check in time, but now it looks like I will get it unless FedEx screws up the delivery so I’m gonna call them this AM and try and make sure it’s not cancelled cuz if still shows active on their website, because yes exactly I signed up for the gap policy as I thought that would be a good idea for a Dream Edition since the regular insurance would only cover the depreciated value of the car, not new replacement value. Poor @hmp10 learned the importance of that with his first Air Dream Edition.

It's true I did not have replacement value coverage, which would have made the negotiation process smoother. However, at the end of the day my carrier did fully reimburse me for the cost to purchase an identical Dream Edition -- with less mileage on it -- than the car that was totaled (although I had to pay the cost to transport if from New Hampshire to Florida).

Our second Gravity arrived in Naples yesterday. We drove over to Miami on Saturday to inspect the car and sign off on the delivery paperwork there. The delivery advisor assured me they would call me yesterday (Monday) when the truck was leaving Miami so that I could meet and inspect the car when it was delivered to the PPF installer in Naples.

Of course, that call never came. Instead, the PPF installer called mid-afternoon to tell me the car had just been dropped off. I drove over to check things out, and the car was fine. However, Lucid had accidentally left the car cover they use in delivery events in the back of the car.

Meanwhile, yesterday morning I received this email from Lucid regarding the Delivery Acceptance I had executed on Saturday at the Miami Studio:

Wondering if it meant the car wouldn't actually be turned over to me in Naples, I tried calling the Miami Studio. They didn't open until 11:00 a.m. and I got nothing but voicemail prompts -- none of which were returned -- until about 4:00 p.m. when I finally had someone pick up the line. They didn't know why I got this email and haven't gotten back to me yet to say whether I've got to do something else. (BTW, I also told them about the car cover, which they said they did want back. I asked if a mobile tech could pick it up, but they weren't sure. It's very bulky and heavy, and now this, too, is going to involve some follow-up.)

My impression is that the end-of-quarter rush to get cars delivered has the whole Sales and Delivery network really slammed right now. (There was a steady stream of Airs and several Gravities being delivered on Saturday when we were there.)

Everyone at Lucid is very pleasant about all this, and I do appreciate their attitude and attempts to be helpful. But things are a bit of a boiling caldron there right now.

I'm surprised you're not more of a boiling cauldron.

You sign docs, then Lucid signs. “Envelope expired” with DocuSign (who lucid uses) means someone didn’t sign the form so it expired. My guess is Lucid is so busy, they didn’t execute the acceptance after you did, so it lapsed automatically. They’ll likely just need to resend. Annoying, absolutely. But likely not an actual issue.

I can’t imagine. When I took delivery it wasn’t end of Q and it still seemed somewhat disorganized. Considering they HAVE been selling the Air for years, I was surprised at the fact the process wasn’t smoother.

I have travelers for insurance and they offer a full replacement option which I did get but wanted to be sure to cover all my bases. Just an fyi in case PenFed did cancel everything already and it cannot be undone.

Very cool that Lucid are still doing the magician’s cape unveiling thing! I was chortling like a little kid when they did that with my Air three years ago.

If it weren’t so bulky I would have considered just keeping it. I hope for their sake that your local Lucid studio has another one. Forgetting to take back the “magician’s cape” sounds like a few of their many spinning plates are starting to wobble.

I find that stuff hokey, and can be even worse than hokey. When I got my Tesla back in 2017, they had a big giant bow on the hood and I felt it was corny AF. It wasn't until later I realized that dragging the stupid thing off had put a bunch of small scratches in the paint. It ended up getting buffed out when they did some paint correction for ceramic coat, but if anyone puts a bow on my car again I will be annoyed.
