Gravity Delivery Discussion

My SA certainly gives the impression that they don’t have any incentive to sell cars. Lucid is fine for Gravity for now as there is more demand than supply, but they are certainly turning away some customers who are not diehard Lucid fans. For me, I don’t necessarily need such a big car. Rivian’s R2 has a staring price of $45k, with 300+ miles range and 0 to 60 under 3 seconds. Not sure they will be able to deliver, certainly sounds very attractive.

I don’t know how SAs get paid for Gravity. For Air, they get paid once per month and the commission doesn’t really amount to much unless they sell three or more that month. This is what my SA explained to me four months ago when I was considering buying an Air. If you want an Air, they’re incentivized to sell them now.

Regardless, it was the same attitude with Tesla and Rivian early on. When demand far outstrips supply, this is what happens.

I personally wouldn’t compare a Rivian to a Lucid for a lot of reasons (and I own a R1S and have been in lots of Lucids and own a Tesla). But, we’re forced to given the lack of market depth. I’d compare an R2 to the EV9.

But we are off topic. Who is taking delivery within the next week????

I'm surprised SAs have anytime to respond to anyone based off the amount of time everyone expects them to put forth based off posters here expecting SAs to cater to their beck and call with immediate results.

My SA must be very busy as there is 0 effort to try and sell me something. Maybe New York is just too far to ship to so far.

I am now scheduled for Friday 7/25. 2nd try!

I tried to contact my SA three times since last November.

The first two took months to get a reply. The most recent one last week is still pending an update.

I totally understand Gravity is selling faster than they can produce. I am just saying I am planning to leave the line and come back when they have more supply than demand. It will be better for both parties.

I will receive my AG Tahoe GDE (22/23 tires) on Saturday July 19th in Miami!! Yeah! This is a short story - I was called today to see if I wanted to replace my GDE order with this orphan - which apparently was orphaned in Miami due to some issues with financing (???). I took the opportunity since it is basically the same car - wired the money today and got insurance at 4PM today. I'll send pictures on Saturday (or Sunday) when in makes it home with me. Not sure what the sill plate will say - which number GDE is this one???

If my SA reads this forum - thank you for all your help getting this one to me!! I greatly appreciate all his hard work to find an orphan to replace my original order (which likely would have delivered in the fall due to HUD issues).

Now I wish I already ordered the sun shades - they are currently OOS in the Lucid store.

I would either visit or call the showroom directly and speak with a manager - my SA was super responsive and worked hard to find orphans - they exist (as I hope I find out Saturday!). I don't have much patience with cars - I could never wait a year for an order......

I have had generally good interactions with SAs and certainly don't have anything against them. However, I've made many visits to the three Lucid studios in Florida beginning with my first visits to Miami Brickell in 2021. Unless there is a special event underway, I generally find the SAs standing around or quietly chatting with each other. When we picked up our Gravity at the Miami Worldcenter on June 30, there were three SAs sitting quietly behind the reception desk in the showroom during most of the three hours we were there (our Air was being serviced during the delivery visit). There was virtually no phone or customer traffic that I observed. They were friendly, attentive, and very helpful . . . but busy they most definitely were not.

Here’s the thing:

1) They don’t have “extra” Gravity to sell
2) They have more than enough to demand to sell the drip, drip of Gravity being built right now.
That’s perhaps not entirely true. I received a form email saying the following, but I reached out and haven’t gotten a response yet.

If you think that's impressive, we're happy to discuss the ability to potentially get a car sooner with some current upcoming inventory options right now”

That’s a very fair point. We know this to be true, so that does come back to whether or not your SA is proactive and, of course, it appears to be very random both with respect to SAs and when a Gravity is available and where. Also, whether you are flexible. I was not flexible with platinum v stealth - BUT that was not “immediately available”. If it were, I may have given in!

I didn’t reach out to my SA for the update I received today. He proactively contacted me. He’s been great. I guess YMMV between SAs. Some are awesome, while some are not.

To be fair, you already ordered, so they did sell you sometimg, right? At this point they are at the mercy of manufacturing and how frequently manufacturing communicates with them. Should they ask manufacturing where the car is in the line hourly? Daily? Weekly?

Yeah since your order was based on use case and hoping to have the car on the sooner side, they should have at least acknowledged your contact questions.

All the talk of orphaned vehicles makes me wonder, my order went in hour 1 on Nov 7. I’m not even getting a once in two or even 3 months email.

I wonder what makes them decide to offer orphan cars and to who they offer them to. I wouldn’t expect them to offer me one as I was pretty specific about what I wanted.

Same as you on the order timeframe (day 1 GT, upgraded to GDE). The only time I've been offered an alternative was when I proactively reached out - unfortunately, none of those have worked out so far. I have been willing to accept a GT or GDE, but wanted heads-up, so I declined a few GT options, and now am not interested in the currently available (last I checked) platinum trim.

My convo was very straight forward.

I told my SA circumstances have changed and I'm looking for a Gravity as soon as possible. She asked me what my must haves are, and proceeded to search the build system for vins that have not been assigned to orders.

My guess is, unless you have a practice SA constantly looking at the units coming off the line, and cross checking against your build then no one is going to call you. And when a SA might have several customers it is a big ask. But if you approach and ask them to tell you what is coming and what hasn't been assigned to an actually order/reservation they can tell you.

Question to those who already have their Gravity:

Does it already come with the retractable rear cover? Every car I've ever owned comes with it from the factory but I see it listed as an accessory in the store.
