Gravity Delivery Discussion

Need some input from friends on the forum…

I’ve been holding out for power package - though we don’t camp and I don’t have a huge need. It’s come in handy a couple of times in our R1S, but won’t get heavy use.

Now, considering inventory cars without power, but every other option I wanted. Should I make the leap? Or hold out?

I am trying to justify by saying I can buy a huge Anker power box with outlets if I really need it. Also, the USB-C ports are fairly powerful. I am never going to hook up a grill or fridge.

Trade off is really delivery timing. I think my GGT as spec’d, is probably not coming until year end at best. Don’t have to get rid of existing cars, but one of them is driving me crazy (no name as I don’t want to focus on that…)

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
I think you should check if the power package can be added after delivery when supplies are available. If not, I will say wait for it. In my experience; I always regret not waiting for the things I really want by compromising. Matter of fact; Lucid said, compromise nothing 🤣😁

The two USB-C ports in the front are 100W - that will charge any laptop computer or electronic device. The power is really only for items that you might need camping or tailgating, etc. If these are not important to you I would just go ahead and get a Gravity without the power ports and HUD. So far my opinion of the HUD display is that it is underwhelming. My Mercedes EQS was spectacular - the one in the Gravity is pretty damn basic - nothing to be impressed by. Maybe with software updates it will deliver what was promised - but I am not holding my breath. I think all the other upgrades are more important. And I do like the looks of the large 22/23 tires !!

Just go for it. I reasoned the same. We won't really need the outlets for much but backup power to the home and our portable fridge we use on road trips, but using the DC outlet can cover our needs, so we are fine.

Those are the main reasons I am waiting for the power package. I’ll kick myself many times over the years otherwise. Some of our laptops take a lot of power (gaming ones), too, and would benefit from the plugs.

My theory is that they produced these before the power package became a thing, and were orphaned when folks adjusted their orders to include the power package.

If you have the runway (read: not in a hurry due to a lease coming to term, and money isn’t a deciding factor for whether you get it or not) why not wait? IMHO it’s better to do that than kick yourself later wishing you had the feature.

Reminds me of when I was just out of uni and could finally afford to buy a nicer (used) car. I found myself frustrated the original owner didn’t tick all the options boxes when ordering, and as a result I had to stare at blank slugs in the dash that *should* have been functional buttons for whatever features were missing 🥴 — not that this will be your situation, as the power outlets are hidden.

Since you have other options for getting the power that the outlets would provide, you're not missing out on the feature.
Same feature, different method of delivery (external vs. through the car).
If that huge power box is going to bother you everytime you use it and cause you to wish you had the integrated outlets, wait for the outlets.
If the power box size doesn't bother you, take the leap now.
I know that size of the power box would probably bother me for the few times I might use it.

Also, I had already compromised with getting a tow package I may never use. I've got it if ever needed though.
My point is, if you're already making other compromises, do you want to make an additional one.

Also, your R1S has them.
Not sure if you own that or leasing.
If you own it, you're covered.

Are there inventory cars you are aware of?
