Gravity Bugs / Issues

My personal peeve is thin dark gray on black controls in the phone app switching to thin ight gray on black when active.
A close second are heating controls that change from dull yellow to medium yellow when turned on, rather than to red.

Summary of what I have heard about this when I mentioned it in the past.

1. “Only if you had read the manual….you’d not be complaining !”
2. Lucid has a different system. Go back to your Tesla
3. No problem with usability. Stop complaining.

😂😂

I’m just glad I’m not the only one who cares about these things.

Oh man. Could not agree more
  1. Ice cold air from HVAC has returned. Can’t replicate it consistently but it’s there when it matters most.
  2. Last evening it was raining here in the Boston area and my entire dashboard lit up. Collision detection sensor issue, rear drive unit failure alert, DDPro alert, high beam malfunction alert. I rebooted twice and no dice.
  3. Weird GPS bug that I can’t reproduce today morning - top display map seems to be stuck at a given location unless the console display also switches to maps view. Then both magically sync. The moment the console display is switched to music or something else, the top display gps is stuck.
  4. Called SC and I am positive Bryan at Natick is gaslighting me. “Everything is fine, happens on most cars”, “your AC is fine”, “gps errors are normal”. Like wtf man. This is not my first car, and gps errors are not that common - has happened to me once in 10 years, across 4 different cars.
  5. Today morning, all systems seem normal. 🤷‍♂️
I think what he means is these are known software issues that do not yet have a fix, but there’s nothing the service center can do because it’s not a mechanical fix. While it is true that right now the Gravity acting crazy is “normal” I don’t think that’s what was what he meant to convey. It’s funny because your AC does in fact work, it just isn’t controlled correctly or consistently by the current state of the HVAC software. I’ve found the car behaves more predictably if I use the app to turn the heat on 10 minutes before getting in the car. If I do that, then it’s nice and cozy and also quiet. If I just get in the car without using the app to initiate the climate ahead of time, oh boy it’s like a drunk magic 8 ball and who the hell knows what the buttons will do or what the fan will do.

Certain members may get very upset with you 👀

But if the price is a car that you can't get into or start up reliably and quickly, it's a fool's choice.
Did you mean EX30? I've got one too, decent car nearly ruined by the terrible fob/card setup. It's infuriating, inconceivably stupid.

So reading about Gravity with same issues is *really* troubling, like, going from my next car to possibly off the shopping list now... Howwww are they screwing up something that's already been perfected, a problem that taints every single interaction with your (very expensive) car!

For apologists saying "just be patient, it's a new brand" - absolutely not. Like someone else said, no one in a $100k+ Mercedes (or $15k Kia for that matter) has to worry about if their f*cking clicker will unlock the door and start the car🤣

I think the root of it is a lack of input from older customers, and that the balance of form vs function in Lucid's design aesthetic is heavily tilted toward form.
Young UX designers will understandably be unaware of the problem.

Today I had a warning ! orange triangle on my clearview cockpit, but no way to figure out what it was. Usually I can tap the "bell" icon on the right side of the clearview cockpit and see what the warning is about, but in this case there was nothing there. I poked around to see if I could figure out what it was but the manual seems to indicate that it either means "System Alert" (no other explanation) or "System Alert: A Detected Problem Requires Your Attention and Caution" but in that case it should have been accompanied by audible alerts and/or other information on the left widget. I had none of those when I had the yellow triangle (though I did have weird warning dings and beeps earlier in the day).

It was gone later in the day, but I am getting quite low overall mileage/kWh so I am getting a bit concerned. No turtle mode yet though....

Any ideas?

Lay flat front seat

So, I’ve largely avoided some of the software bugs and key fob issues plaguing others. I’ve definitely experienced the slow screen start-up and headlight/rear steering/other errors that seem to eventually go away. Today the driver’s seat went to fully recline went I entered the car, similar to what others have experienced. Anyone know the root cause of this?
Happened to me today too (might have happened yesterday but we didn't drive or look at the car yesterday).

Did Lucid just send a buggy command to all Gravities to make the front seat flat?

I don’t think I’m the outlier, but since 3.3.5 my fob just works with passive unlock every time, except for once I had to press unlock on the fob but I’ve always still been able to drive. Since 3.3.5 I’ve got a total of 3 fob not detected alerts once I was in the car but it immediately went away, so at least with that one issue they’re making quicker progress than the EX30.

I think the #1 problem is the very unstable erratic nature of the software globally. Each car has its own unique snowflake of software behavior, it feels like an install went sideways and commands don’t always connect or get verified but then other times they work flawlessly (most of the time for me honestly except for the HVAC which weirdly works better if I control it from my phone before getting in than in the car). At least for me the software anarchy is not too frequent but still more frequent than it should be.

Most work fine after the fob update and > 3.3.5 - just saying.

Literally nobody has said that to you because you have never said what the parent comment said. You literally made that up.

Wanting more contrast in UX is not crazy.

aaah.. I see

Here goes

1. Read manual - for the actual screen but not exactly for the app - though it would be the same issue. (Thread)

It’s explained pretty clearly in the manual.

2. Lucid has a different system <-- wasn't directed at me, so withdrawing. 🫡

3. No Problem with usability, Stop complaining.. ...

actually this comment is by you 🤣 on the same thread (Thread).

Got it. So unless it is immediately understandable by you, specifically, based on completely unspecified parameters that apparently apply exclusively to you, it is going to be confusing no matter what. Incidentally, in that world, there is the distinct possibility that there exists no possible iteration or design that isn’t confusing, since based on the unspecified definition of “isn’t confusing to @Ironhorse” something can always be confusing.

Seems confusing. :p

Anyway, I didn’t have to read the manual to understand it; it worked just like every other car I’ve owned. 🤷‍♂️

Out of the 1000 people who own gravity, if 20-30% have an issue (anecdotally), then it is a genuine issue. Just because Lucid has done it one way, and it is somewhat stable, doesn't mean it is the right way. The straightforward issue is that there are vastly superior systems out there to compare against. Tesla, BYD, Zeeker etc.

Lucid employees look at this forum and can determine if it's valuable feedback. However, Why shouldn't we demand better? The whole reason why all of us are here is because we have committed $$ to the vehicle. We need this to be better, on MULTIPLE dimensions, including UI and Colors and Usability.

Wouldn't you agree? What's the point of putting someone else down ? I would recommend you don't take these things personally.

Thanks, that's good to hear.

But my point is no one should even be having this conversation in 2025. Wireless fobs on literally every other car for the past 20 years *just work*, an invisible convenience that no one's had to even think about for decades. Now suddenly multiple "premium" carmakers forgot how to implement such a basic function and it's maddening. And we should be shaming them in these pages (and EX30 forums🤣), in the hopes they're reading and heeding.

Over the past two days the button for operating the rear hatch has been randomly coming and going on one of our Gravities. The frunk and door lock buttons remain. Anyone else seeing this?

Yes same. It disappears and appears depending on its mood and the time of day. I just use the key fob to open the trunk. I am slowly finding ways to accomplish the same task just takes longer and some additional cussing.

Yes, I've seen this a few times. I'm becoming so numb to stupid UI bugs that I'm not even reporting them anymore.
However, it's interesting that some specific UI elements are more commonly buggy than others, i.e. why specifically the rear hatch button disappears, but not others?
I suspect it's a deeper issue with sensor communications getting out of sync, where it needs to read the sensor to draw the UI icon, and if sensor response wasn't received as expected it just skips drawing UI icon for it.

I got my Gravity back from service
DreamDrive was fixed by replacing the steering wheel assembly. Hands-on sensor was faulty, which disallowed DD feature startup, but without any UI error message. Why bother reporting the important sensor fault when you can be busy false reporting USB charging fault

They also replaced Multiport Valve Manifold Assembly in the cooling system, which was causing persistent Drive System Warning, apparently it was an actual hardware defect, not a false alarm in software. I wonder which issues it was causing downstream, maybe weird HVAC performance and reduced charging performance I observed thru my Home Assistant logs.

Frunk bump stop was also adjusted to fix the commonly reported hiccup in frunk opening, even though we suspect there is also a software component to it, I'll keep an eye on it.

I discovered that if you come to your locked car after being away, open the rear hatch but don't open the unlocked doors as well, the vehicle does not automatically relock. I was in one store today, took my package out, opened the rear hatch but not the doors, then went into another store, and it was unlocked when I came out. I did a test to make sure it would replicate and it did. Is this a bug or a design of the software? It needs to be changed if it is an intended design.

Probably will end up being some of the same for mine getting done to restore Dream Drive and the frunk fix. Thanks for sharing the update!

That happened to me as well. Wife’s EV9 does the same thing. Just figured it was something to watch out for. Not sure if intentional or not…
