Gravity Bugs / Issues

All the other false alerts I get annoy me but don't worry me. Given I've already had an RDU replacement in the first car and that this drive system warning has been popping up consistently upon powering up the past several times, I'm a bit apprehensive. I don't want to end up in a rental car on another road trip.
I think you said you had a mobile tech coming this week, so perhaps he can look at logs to see if it’s a real issue? Unfortunately for you, though sadly not surprising, I feel like that isn’t one of the many “false alerts” we’ve seen folks experience over the past couple of months.

Feels like you need an experienced thaumaturgist to fix and protect your Gravity. I don’t think Lucid has any on staff, but at this point, they may be more effective than engineers…. 🪄

I'm convinced that current Lucid team is unable to fix these bugs, all they are doing is adding kludges to catch and bypass some of them.
Oh, well since you’re convinced…

They need to bring an experienced bug exterminator to the team before Gravity enters the hall of fame for bad vehicle software.
Is that a title on LinkedIn?

ITYM “Software Engineer” :)

Those 2 dudes in the Savage Geese video need a demotion ASAP, stop all the unicorn nonsense and make the car work reliably.
Yes, you’re right; all of it is definitely the fault of the only two people whose faces you’ve seen.

You'd be surprised how many people suggested this 2-3 years ago due to the state of the Air's software.
At this point, I don't see how Lucid could ever deliver on the promised AR-HUD functionality as that software is far more complicated than the stuff they haven't been able to get right. I'm also not holding my breath on new ADAS features landing soon. That's ok -- I like the current HUD functionality and it wasn't the deciding factor for getting the vehicle -- but it's been disappointing to see how haphazard the software delivery has been over the past 4 months.

For the ADAS, the only thing we really miss from the Tesla is the original "autopilot" -- switching lanes to take highway exits. In the Gravity it's easy to forget this doesn't exist and just blow past the exit because we're in the left lane and can't safely get over in time.

Another morning of software glitches, including a new one (for us, anyway). Once again one Gravity was following the other to drop one off for a PPF/dent repair. And once again, both cars experienced constant music pausing every few seconds, with one car streaming Tidal and the other streaming Spotify. Also, the display of the selected track disappeared part way into the drive, as did the volume display bar.

Then, as I was driving down the road alone in the car with both hands on the squircle, the navigation system in the newest Gravity suddenly came on, showing the route and giving me voice instructions for a trip we had done last week.

The software malfunctions continue to accumulate in these cars, moreso even than I saw in the first 10 months with our early Air. The Lucid UI/Infotainment effort seems to be sinking further into the depths rather than starting to head for the surface. It's been four months since our first delivery and, if anything, our cars are just acting weirder by the day.

Not saying this is the case for nav, but I have accidentally chosen a past trip in nav by touching the capacitive buttons and pressing. It’s one of the things I don’t love about them as I tend to keep my thumbs near them and the nav on that cockpit screen. So I accidentally swiped and activated it.

The music piece continues to be baffling. I wonder if it would still happen if you just kept both on FM vs something that requires streaming and a log in…

When it's happening, it continues to happen even when I switch to the USB music stick.

Oh yes, I remember you mentioning that. But if both you and your partner are using a USB in each Gravity, does/would the problem still happen? The fact that it happens in multiple Lucid cars at the same time is what’s really got me stuck…no pun intended.

But if both you and your partner are using a USB in each Gravity, does/would the problem still happen?

We haven't tried that yet, and it's difficult to plan because the problem happens only every few days, and we'd have to be in separate cars at the same time.

Also, the constant need to run trouble-shooting experiments for one thing or another is getting a little exhausting.

Took delivery of my GGT yesterday. Great car, two minor issues:

1. After leaving the service center says 'vehicle offline' in the app on both my android and iphone. Deleted the apps, soft reboot the car. Still offline.

2. The HUD seems to be randomly playing with the dim setting. I see it get brighter, and reveal the square glow of the display screen on the windshield when it's on full brightness, and then dim again. Going up and down every few seconds. Time of day was dawn, maybe something to do with auto-adjusting based on ambient light or something? Turned the HUD off on last trip because it was distracting. Will try again after work.

I've also noticed apparent accumulation effect of weird behaviors, despite countless reboots and recent driver profile refreshes.
It reminds me of how Windows OS gets bogged down over time, eventually requiring a fresh install.
I found the Factory Reset option in Settings and performed it yesterday, just to see what happens.
On the surface it looked just like deleting and creating a new driver profile, but maybe it clears something on a deeper level, we'll see.
However, the full seat recline upon entry, which was new to me, happened after the Factory Reset, so maybe new gremlins move in after you evict the old ones, go figure.

I have the vehicle offline issue now too. Haven't tried a reset, but it's probably worth noting that I had a lot of connection issues even in the Lucid delivery bay when picking up the car. The Delivery Advisor tried all his tricks to get the car to connect to something (both wifi and cellular) when initially setting up my driver profile, but eventually he had to call out two other technicians with laptops to get it to "take." Hopefully this will go away with an infotainment reset when I get a chance.

I wouldn’t be doing factory resets unless explicitly told from Lucid to do so. My understand is it clears out valuable logs etc. that Lucid can use for troubleshooting. It could also do more harm than good

I experience faults in driver entrance sequence every other time I use the car. Most annoying is when it randomly stops restoring the seat position in the middle of doing it.
It drives me crazy as I feel that seat is not there, but almost there, so I open the seat screen on the pilot panel and see the stuck "progress circle of doom" where Restore button woud normally be.
However, I discovered a quick workaround for this issue, reach down and move the seat slightly with a physical button, which instantly breaks the progress circle and brings back Restore button, then I touch Restore button and seat/wheel return to normal position. No need to exit/enter the car again or do a soft reboot.
Thanks, I’ll this next time I have theh issue!

I've noticed this as well and figured it happens when first driving in changing light conditions like dusk or dawn. It seems to settle in when the screen approximates the ambient light outside and the HUD screen effectively "disappears" leaving the driving data floating in space.

Supposedly, it goes to sleep much faster than that. That said, I’ve found that a good night’s sleep “cures” many of the Gravity bugs for a while…or for good.
And, that's exactly right - this morning after a good nights sleep, the Gravity is locking and folding the mirrors again.

I'm guessing the steering wheel reboot just does the screens & UI .. and over a period of time, the Gravity does a "full" reboot? 🤔

The Tesla Navigate on Autopilot always made me crazy. It would move to the far left lane to pass two miles before the exit. I usually found myself turning it off .and doing the exit myself. On the other hand I really like the way the Gravity passes on command( turn signal initiated) , when she pulls out she accelerates immediately up to cruise speed.

Yeah, I think that's how most EVs/software-defined cars handle this nowadays, analogous to the different levels of sleep that you can put your computer in (e.g., "deep sleep" where it turns off multiple systems, flushes out any temp memory, etc.).

I had to debug this first-hand, not with the Gravity, but with my previous Model X where the HW3 would glitch out completely and the only surefire fix was to let it get into deep sleep mode by waiting the night; the only other alternative for the X would have been to physically disconnect the battery so the system would lose power on purpose and then repower it that way.

Steering wheel reboot is infotainment only (so yes, screens, UI, etc.)

After the car falls asleep (which takes about a minute or two), it will boot fresh when it wakes up. You can track the state using Home Assistant if you happen to use it.

The HUD brightness currently seems to adjust in very visible and significant increments, and like the climate control seems to turn on FULL BLAST until it figures out what's going on. I suspect this will be fixed in an update.

You may be the only current customer with two Gravities; I wonder if that could be a factor, since it looks like you have reported multiple occurrences where it was effecting both cars at the same time. I don’t know if Lucid does any sort of cloud syncing of profiles like Tesla does, or if you have both Gravities on the same Lucid account or not, but it’s at least possible that somewhere something is connected and it’s getting confused and thinking the two cars are the same but somehow playing different music sources simultaneously. Not that this helpful, just an old software engineer musing… 😊
