Gravity Bugs / Issues

The Homelink thing happens to me every time. It usually doesn’t change color/status and nothing happens. Typically takes 4-5 taps. I expect it’s a big most other taps on the screen for other features are instant. But it’s super annoying with Homelink as I literally have to stop the car in my driveway and press the button a bunch of times…
Home Assistant is your friend 😛 . Tracks the car via gps with the Lucid Integration and when I pull into my driveway the door automatically opens

Well this is a new one…I guess my car didn’t want me to go to work this morning and just sleep in it.
Opened my door in the garage and the seat moved into this position.
This happened in my Gravity too!! Only happened once, but was a total head scratcher! There’s weird comfort in knowing someone else has also experienced it!

Has anyone had issues with audio? Twice now it has sounded like one of the audio channels has gone away. Sound still comes out everywhere but vocals are missing in some songs. Sounds very hollow. Hard to explain. Sounded like that on streaming services and using bluetooth audio. Interestingly, FM radio sounded fine. Reset didn't work. After parking and coming back to the car it was fine. In addition, when pressing the Homelink button for my garage door, more often then not, nothing happens. Sometimes the button color changes but no indicator of a signal being sent shows up. Usually I just give up and use my garage door opener. I haven't seen either of these things posted so I thought I would raise the issue. I'm looking forward to the San Diego SC opening up to deal with these and other issues that are still unresolved.
Do you have a Tidal subscription? One great thing is with Atmos you can run a speaker identifier test which can help you trouble shoot the exact issue you’re talking about. Here’s the link for that track

Yes. I've had similar issue two or three times in the two months I've had mine. It's like the front speakers won't fully work and no matter the source, for me anyway, it won't play music fully. Only parts of the music sound track comes thru. Due to the good sound system and the way the different channels and parts of the songs come from different speakers to envelope you, it's really weird when only parts of the song are only playing. Also, last time it happened, my turn signal wouldn't make it's noise, nor any of the alert sounds for cross traffic or car in the merging lane. It was VERY weird without thiose noises, but all other systems appeared to work just fine.

Ours began doing this after upon its return to us from having the HUD replaced and the navigation/GPS issue (sort of) resolved. Before that the Homelink worked instantly, although it would not activate automatically upon approach or departure due, I assume, to the fact that the car was not transmitting its location via GPS.

However, now that the navigation system is up and running, it behaves erratically. Several times it has spontaneously switched routes to unknown locations while we were trying to get somewhere. The most recent incident was this morning when it mapped the route from our hotel to the Roswell Service Center where we were to drop the car off for the rear drive unit issue. The system located the correct address and displayed the correct route. But a few blocks from the hotel it went bonkers, telling us in quick succession to turn left, turn right, make a U-turn, essentially sending us in circles. We had to pull off the road, turn it off, and put the address in a cell phone, which took us there without any drama.

By the way, since Roswell couldn't put us in a Lucid loaner they took us to an Enterprise rental depot where they said they had reserved us a "premium luxury" ICE car. (I had requested an ICE car since the Roswell detour added so much time to our return trip that I wanted to avoid charging layovers.) The Lucid employee refused to wait while we signed the rental papers so that we could transfer things from the Gravity to the rental car, leaving us at the counter with all our luggage (including plastic bags with dirty windshield cleaning towels and other road trip detritus) spread out unceremoniously in a bustling lobby. When our turn came at the counter we were told the only cars available were a pickup truck or a Nissan Rogue. After I started to get a little "noisy", they suddenly discovered they had a Mazda CX-90 available. Not a bad car, actually. Not a Gravity, of course, but, on the other hand, a car that actually got us home.

As I was sitting in this Mazda all day, my mind began replaying what our time with the Air has been like, what our first months with the Gravity have been like, and wondering what the first months are going to be like with the other GDE that's in production. And I began to wonder, really seriously for the first time, whether my love affair with EVs in general -- and Lucid in particular -- has put me on a path to which I'm also subjecting my less-enthusiastic partner that is really not sustainable. I just don't know how much more of this aggravation either of us can take for the love of a car brand or a propulsion technology (with its charging challenges), no matter how good it is on those days when it is good.
The problem with new technology and engineering elegance is all the unknown unknowns that are injected into the system. That’s why they say never buy the first year or two of a new model. The Mazda CX-90 is a nice vehicle, as are its Genesis/Hyundai/Kai peers. I drove my brother’s 2021 Kia Telluride for the summer and despite being 4 years old it was full of the latest tech and it worked flawlessly. The lane centering was perfect, as was the proximity unlock. The ride and handling were great. The car even had cooled rear seats. Dollar for dollar they are tremendous value. I’ve always been a BMW guy, but they’ve gotten far too expensive and I can’t work on the new ones because of the high level of technology in the car. I refuse to buy a car that requires $4,000 tune-ups at the dealer, thus my move to BEV. However, your tribulations have me wondering about my decision.

All I can say is "thank you for your service". As someone still waiting for my GGT order to go into production, I'm very appreciative of the early adopters who have inadvertently helped identify the teething issues with the car, and improved my chance of receiving a vehicle that isn't as aggravating as yours has been.

I will point out how frequently you've posted about loving the way the vehicle drives when it's working. I sincerely hope that you'll soon be over the hump, and marveling about what an amazing machine you're sitting in instead of having steam come out your ears.

If you haven't taken delivery yet, I would wait to hear how the much awaited "big update" works for us Gravity owners dealing with myriad issues. If the big update fails to deliver I fear this forum is about to get very "spicy".

Good idea on waiting for the software update feedback. I was told my delivery would be 45 days from when I got the call that the car was going into production at the end of August. Frankly, I’m not in a rush and the later the better, I think. I’m currently in San Diego dealing with a family issue. I plan to zip over to the studio here to lay eyes on the Gravity again. I was lucky to do a Gravity test drive in Atlanta with the Lucid pop-up store at Lenox Mall, but didn’t really get to spend time with the car. Unbelievably, Georgia still doesn’t have a Lucid studio, only a service center in the Atlanta suburbs, despite being one of the states near the top in terms of number of orders.

The problem is it doesn't know if the door is open or not. I frequently get in my car with the door open and when I turn the car on, it closes the door. Same thing if I return to an open garage door, it will close it. Kind of defeats the purpose if I need to override it.

I should be at Rancho Santa Fe Cars and Coffee tomorrow morning with mine if you don't make it to the showroom. Sorry about the family issues.

Considering I don't really have any issues...I'm scared the "big update" could actually break my current good situation! Just got back from about 180mi road trip with zero issues or gremlins...the car was great! Maybe I should loan hmp10 my car for a weekend so he can see what the car is supposed to be like! lol

Both laughing and crying at this.

But may fortune continue to smile on you and others with those problem-free Gravities.

Thanks for taking one for the team while Lucid learns from all the stuff going on with your Gravity. I have faith that they'll get everything working eventually--and hopefully that's sooner rather than later. Hang in there!

I still don't understand how multiple owners have exactly the same issue and others don't. This inconsistency is driving me nuts. This is the same pattern I've noticed with Airs, which shows that it's something rotten with Lucid's procurement/manufacturing processes, and it's not just a specific model issue. I truly admire the heroes that have jumped head-first in the fray, but this Russian Roulette with the ownership experience is a total turn-off for me.

Frankly, I feel more like a putz than a hero. The Lucid driving experience is just so intoxicating that my reasoning goes numb.

I feel like the guy who knows that living with the girl is going to drive him crazy, but he's going to marry her anyway because she's just sooo much damn fun at a party.

The inconsistency isn't surprising. In both hardware and software engineering, it's completely normal to see problems experienced in only a subset of population. In autos specifically, there's a long history of this. For example, it's quite normal for recalls to cover a large set of vehicles, and have the mechanics correct a problem in only a fraction of the vehicles brought in for inspection and correction.
