Gravity Bugs / Issues

As far as I can tell it’s two vehicles on here so far? 🤷‍♂️
To be clear, my issue was with the front drive unit, not the RDU. Service doc said something about an 'inverter fault.' I'm trying to focus on the positives and, I have to say, I drove with the degraded FDU for a few days and the car still performed better than any other car I've driven (under 50 mph because of the related speed governance.)

Here's some context that no one asked for. I've driven EVs since 2014, my first one being the BMW i3 (battery only, 90 mile range.) Ironically the only car I experienced zero issues. I've had three drive unit failures that required unit replacement over the last 10 years. First one was my 2018 Tesla Model 3 Performance that would intermittently lose power at highway speeds for a couple seconds and then come back. Extremely alarming. Tesla questioned that I was operating the car correctly until I insisted they look at it. The second one was my leased 2023 Lucid AGT. Complete RDU lock up and failure, about a block from my house. Was able to limp home with severely degraded performance and very red visual and loud auditory messages from the car. Then there was this one with the GDE, relatively tame compared to the other two. I'm hoping my adventure with faulty drive units is over but acknowledge that I've signed up willingly to be an early adopter of advanced mobility tech and I really don't regret it. That being said, I'm not going to get into an EVTOL until I know for absolute certainty there won't be an 'inverter fault.'

My second row seat squeak is back after being addressed at the service center. I can minimize the squeak by leaving the second row folded flat, but that doesn't completely eliminate it. Has anyone had this fixed and had the fix last more than a week? I've had it fixed twice and neither fix has lasted. If so, can you please detail the fix so I can run it by my mobile tech?
I had this problem out of the gate and the service center in Torrance, California sniffed it out and fixed it. I'm at 3,500 miles on my GDE and the squeak hasn't returned. Ironically the Torrance Service Center hadn't even been allocated a GDE yet (at that time)but they were able to fix it.

@hmp10 - good grief, I am really sorry to hear you are going through all these issues. You're scaring me about my impending delivery. I hope you are able to get some resolution soon.

Not sure if this is a DD2Pro bug but my Gravity does not adjust speeds around curves on the highway. When drive assist is on, it just takes curves at whatever the speed limit is65, 70, 75… Kind of like a 16 year old with a new license! I have to take over for most real curves at highway speed. I am sure they’ll address in an update.
I don't think it's a "bug" per se, just the feature as it exists today.

DD2Pro is not very smart right now. Last week there was a big truck to our right so it stated "adding space on right" and biased to the left of the lane. Then it immediately started shaking the steering wheel as part of the lane departure warning on the left.

Interesting. My lane biasing has been quite good and I appreciate the way it informs me. I was curious about the speed adjustment in curves as they list that as a feature available today and it’s definitely making zero adjustments for me. Whatever the set cruise speed is, it’s flying around the corner.

I notice in my AGT loaner with DDPro, it does lower the speed for curves. I realize it’s DDPro vs DD2Pro.

As you said, it’s likely not a bug, just a capability they have to refine. Versus the persistently three minute ahead clock - that is a bug.

IDK, but as I’ve mentioned before, my 2016 P90D X needed a new rear drive unit (the performance motor) a week after I got the car. Stuff happens…
Tesla replaced the rear drive (. it was only rear drive) in our 2014 Model S within six months of ownership. That was before the Model 3 so they actually had a service department.

Just to be clear the Gravity would take the curve. Just uncomfortable for the occupants? I’ve been know to take over from autosteer on the MS to maintain speed on highway curves😎

Yes. Gravity takes the curve well, just fast!

Just over a month into ownership and DD2Pro (Drive Assist specifically) and I are slowly developing a trust relationship.
Emphasis on "slowly".
The "not very smart right now" doesn't help, but knowing that reality does help.

I'll test the Active Curve Speed Control with no cars around with my thumb on the X button.

Still waiting on my replacement center console or whatever is needed to rectify the key card not enabling drive issue.

The mobile tech contacted me last Friday to say the part had been ordered the day before, with three-day shipping.
I erroneously thought that meant the part would arrive in three business days.
Nope, "when the part is available", it will ship with three-day shipping.
A week later and part still not available for shipping.

The Roswell Service Center told me this morning that they’ve delivered a “good number” of Gravities (we saw five on the lot and one in a service bay — all green). When I asked about repair incidence they said a lot with key fob issues. So there might be some real pressure on parts demand with the consoles.

Swing and a miss for Lucid service for me today. They looked at my frunk/trunk and my window issue about a month ago (sent the tech out) and determined parts were needed and they would be in contact and my Gravity would have to go in for service. Couple weeks go by and I hear nothing, so I reach out to the SC (ATL) and they don't seem to have a real record of anything the tech did and wanted me to send pics and arranged to come out and visit again, bc they thought they could at least fix the trunk/frunk without replacement parts. So couple weeks later (today), tech arrives, same gentleman. He was surprised to be sent back out for the same issues and wonders what happened to the parts and he has a record of his report, but for some reason, it doesn't seem to have made it back to those who can order the parts and such. So he wasted the trip back up here, re-evaluated everything and came to the same conclusion but this time is going to work to get to the bottom of why no progress on this. Left me his direct line in case I don't hear anything. So a month has gone by, but nothing has been done to address the issues, but they aren't serious and don't really stop my enjoyment of the car, but man, if it were more significant, I would not be happy right now. We'll see if any progress gets made any time soon here but not filling me with confidence right now...

My front trunk issue occasionally takes 3-4 tries before it opens. At this point I sorta just never use the front trunk.

Your parts ordering fiasco sounds similar to mine. Mobile tech came out, assessed, determined issue, parts needed. Two weeks later, parts not ordered; personnel issue at service center/miscommunication. Finally ordered last week.

Within the last hour mobile tech responded to my text from earlier today to say they are trying to pull a part for me from the assembly line.

What I feel good about is, if this was an emergency or dire situation, I was told a loaner would have been provided. Not ideal, but better than nothing.

Has anyone had issues with audio? Twice now it has sounded like one of the audio channels has gone away. Sound still comes out everywhere but vocals are missing in some songs. Sounds very hollow. Hard to explain. Sounded like that on streaming services and using bluetooth audio. Interestingly, FM radio sounded fine. Reset didn't work. After parking and coming back to the car it was fine. In addition, when pressing the Homelink button for my garage door, more often then not, nothing happens. Sometimes the button color changes but no indicator of a signal being sent shows up. Usually I just give up and use my garage door opener. I haven't seen either of these things posted so I thought I would raise the issue. I'm looking forward to the San Diego SC opening up to deal with these and other issues that are still unresolved.

I’m a bit over 3k miles in and have not experienced either of those issues.

Ran into the key not detected bug when try to select a drive mode. Shook the key and it didn't work, so I tried pressing the unlock button and presto!

The Homelink thing happens to me every time. It usually doesn’t change color/status and nothing happens. Typically takes 4-5 taps. I expect it’s a big most other taps on the screen for other features are instant. But it’s super annoying with Homelink as I literally have to stop the car in my driveway and press the button a bunch of times…

This is exactly why I continue to keep the garage door opener on the visor.

Ours began doing this after upon its return to us from having the HUD replaced and the navigation/GPS issue (sort of) resolved. Before that the Homelink worked instantly, although it would not activate automatically upon approach or departure due, I assume, to the fact that the car was not transmitting its location via GPS.

However, now that the navigation system is up and running, it behaves erratically. Several times it has spontaneously switched routes to unknown locations while we were trying to get somewhere. The most recent incident was this morning when it mapped the route from our hotel to the Roswell Service Center where we were to drop the car off for the rear drive unit issue. The system located the correct address and displayed the correct route. But a few blocks from the hotel it went bonkers, telling us in quick succession to turn left, turn right, make a U-turn, essentially sending us in circles. We had to pull off the road, turn it off, and put the address in a cell phone, which took us there without any drama.

By the way, since Roswell couldn't put us in a Lucid loaner they took us to an Enterprise rental depot where they said they had reserved us a "premium luxury" ICE car. (I had requested an ICE car since the Roswell detour added so much time to our return trip that I wanted to avoid charging layovers.) The Lucid employee refused to wait while we signed the rental papers so that we could transfer things from the Gravity to the rental car, leaving us at the counter with all our luggage (including plastic bags with dirty windshield cleaning towels and other road trip detritus) spread out unceremoniously in a bustling lobby. When our turn came at the counter we were told the only cars available were a pickup truck or a Nissan Rogue. After I started to get a little "noisy", they suddenly discovered they had a Mazda CX-90 available. Not a bad car, actually. Not a Gravity, of course, but, on the other hand, a car that actually got us home.

As I was sitting in this Mazda all day, my mind began replaying what our time with the Air has been like, what our first months with the Gravity have been like, and wondering what the first months are going to be like with the other GDE that's in production. And I began to wonder, really seriously for the first time, whether my love affair with EVs in general -- and Lucid in particular -- has put me on a path to which I'm also subjecting my less-enthusiastic partner that is really not sustainable. I just don't know how much more of this aggravation either of us can take for the love of a car brand or a propulsion technology (with its charging challenges), no matter how good it is on those days when it is good.
