Gravity Bugs / Issues

I'd just like to remind everyone that this thread is titled "Gravity Bugs/Issues". It's not the entire forum but rather a distillation specifically to focus on problems with the Gravity. The larger forum is chock full of praise for the Gravity, a fair bit of it from me.

Between two Lucid Air Dreams and two Gravity Dreams, I have spent or am soon to spend well over half a million dollars for purchases of Lucid products as well as invested heavily in the company. That should speak for itself. But when I think I see issues on the production end, I'm going to discuss them as freely as I praise the amazing design and engineering efforts of the company.
Nowhere did I suggest you shut up. :)

I actually have a pretty high threshold for bother, which is why I keep coming back for more when it comes to Lucid.

But since the day of delivery we have had white ghosts dancing across the windshield, a non-functioning GPS system, no navigation system or satellite maps, no GPS-dependent ADAS features, malfunctioning blind spot displays, features randomly turning on and off (including brake hold), a rattling second-row seat and, more recently, key fob issues. I think that would exceed the threshold of a pretty fair percentage of buyers.

Your luck is going to change with this service visit @hmp10... I can feel it ;)
Hang in there!

Good news, I have my VIN so my Gravity is going to production. Bad news: this thread gives me pause as to whether or not I want to follow through with this purchase. At 65 pages long, it is difficult to digest the current state of things, but the vibes are not good. This will be our only car, and needs to be reliable. I have driven both the Air and Gravity and know they are amazing, but I am really concerned about the viability of Lucid in general, and the key fob access issues. So , for those of you who may be following this closer than me, I would love to hear your thoughts, guidance, and recommendations.
Your only car?

Unless, you know for sure you can get a loaner or rental reimbursement, don't do it.

Always have a backup even with an ICE car.

Only car, but I do have backup. A motorcycle and a camper. Not exactly a second car but can be driven in a pinch. However, this raises another question. If the Lucid is “in the shop” for warranty repairs, I ASSUME Lucid will provide a loaner. Is this correct?

You know for sure you can get a loaner or rental reimbursement. If your car is in service, they will provide a loaner if available, or a rental if unavailable.

I have a garage of only Lucid vehicles (now), but I’ve never been left stranded without a vehicle. I’ve always been provided either a loaner or a rental (recently, always a loaner; rentals in the early days).

Yes. If there are no loaners because they’re all in customer hands, they’ll get you a rental.

It is. On the couple of occasions we've taken our car to a Service Center for "while you wait" non-warranty service, they've given us another Air to use locally if we don't want to sit in the waiting room. On the more frequent occasions when Lucid has transported the car across the state to the Service Center for warranty work, they have left us with a loaner even though I tell them we have other cars and don't need it. This is because a Lucid employee drives to our house in a Lucid which he leaves with us in order to drive our car to the Service Center. On the two occasions where our car was not drivable, Lucid sent transport trucks, but they, too, were carrying loaners to leave with us.

Lucid does not leave customers in the lurch for this type of thing.

I know that, and I always very much appreciate your views. Your post just reminded me that it might be time for me to put a little more perspective back into my posts.

I'm a first time Lucid owner (two weeks now), but I thought I had read on this forum about how Lucid offers support.

The veteran Lucid owners stepped up with responses. 😀

You are absolutely right about this being the place to find all the bugs and bad issues and some folks reading it and waiting or evaluating for this vehicle need to remember that.

Can an admin or someone make a thread along the lines of Lucid Gravity: Sunshine, Lolipops and all great things! (No complaints allowed) please? 🤣

Re: Lucid viability as a company. KSA has an endless amount of money and this is an important investment to them (per KSA). Lucid isn’t going to tank any time soon - regardless of fobs and bugs. KSA has too much invested to not at least get through to the mid size production and delivery.

The “Lucid is going BK” bears are the same who insisted Tesla and Rivian would fail and, arguably, neither had the type of backing Lucid does.

Not an apologist or defending Lucid, just believe that’s a bogus argument. If you’re that concerned, just don’t buy one or lease it to mitigate risk.

Cost per car is a meaningless metric when the company is investing to build at scale. Same canard was used against Tesla until they turned profitable.

Creating car factories is capital intensive, and you won't make profit on them when running at a fraction of the designed production capacity.
Agree, they are making progress…that’s what I meant

Company will be viable, they have unlimited funding.

Unofficial response from Admin: You do know this is the Internet, right?
Is that thing still around??? Thought it was a fad that died off in ought 3 or 4....nerds!

I'd be a happy camper if Lucid tried to follow the Porsche model of being a mid-volume manufacturer of premium, superbly-engineered vehicles with a sport-inspired heritage. But the business plan -- and the capital they've already spent to build manufacturing capacity -- indicates an intent to go further downmarket into a broader customer base.
...
I'd love to hear a strategy update in the wake of Rawlinson departing. I interpreted his remarks to mean that Lucid would compete in the mid-market, but not in low priced EVs. For that segment, they would focus on being a technology vendor for other manufacturers.

I do not envy your hiccups. I, thankfully, have minor issues, IMO. I have no HUD so don't have the challenges associated with that. I have plenty a list, just none that make the vehicle unfun. I think the only issues we have in common are the 2nd row rattle, a few features that are hit and miss in terms of working, and sometimes I have to use the card to get it going.

I do hope that I did not miscommunicate my feelings and imply that I felt that you didn't have valid concerns. Please accept my sincere apologies if so. I don't begrudge anyone that has the vehicle and has issues sharing them as it was helpful to know what I might encounter when I decided to place my order, accept an orphan and take delivery. I just don't feel it is advantageous to anyone for some to pile on without even having the vehicle. I feel that most of us that are early adopters knew the potential for problems and unfortunately, some got less tolerable challenges than others.

This is across all Gravities afaict. Mine isn’t a rattle, but a squeak… but they are aware of this and actively working on a solution.

Honestly, part of the reason it’s so grating is because the car is otherwise so damn quiet.

Keeping one seat slightly forward to the other has done the trick for me.

So true.

I can imagine how much quieter it would be with the thicker glass.
