That's it! The whole key thing is just an Easter Egg! The FOB is actually a Tamagotchi, it requires you to feed him batteries, wake him up from his naps and shake it to make sure he exercises!

At least when I say it's a security feature, I mean the FOB cutting off is a security feature to keep someone from picking up the signal while your keys are in your home or at your office or out and about. The car should absolutely NOT lock while the FOB is inside it. There should be a way for the fob and vehicle to do both.

100% agree. I would definitely buy it again. It’s by far my favorite car that I have ever owned. I have had my GGT since September and have had almost no issues. The OTA and fob updates fixed the one significant problem I had early on (fob didn’t start car a few times). All I have now are occasional and minor UI hiccups that for me do not detract from how amazing the car is.

For anyone considering buying a Gravity, I think it’s very important to decide if you are Ok with dealing with early adopter issues. If having problems (even if minor) will drive you crazy, then I would not buy a new model from a young startup. For me, watching the car improve via OTAs and looking forward to seeing what future updates will add/change is part of the fun. I know not everyone will feel the same and that’s Ok.

As a test, set your DD mode to simple Cruise Control (which doesn't use hands sensor) and see if touchpad is able to activate that. If not, then it's likely a fault in the touchpad itself.
In any case, replacing the steering wheel might still be Lucid's default response in these cases, even if they have advanced diagnostics to determine which part is faulty.

Unless I misunderstand what you mean by Cruise Control, Adaptive Cruise Control is also set through the keypad. It doesn't work either.

I would have to disable auto-lock entirely. My wife habitually leaves the fob in the center console. Bad enough if she sometimes struggles to get the car moving, but there would be a whole different level of fury if locked out, and even more so if that occurred with the dogs in the car.

I had a ‘22 AGT and bought a ‘25 GGT that I took delivery of 7/22. I love my GGT and have had very limited issues. I would do it again.

Early August delivery. July production.

I have had two instance of unresponsive car once fob let me in. Everything black, etc. Had to get out (ask everyone to get out) and walk away and wait five minutes. Car came back on after doing this. Both happened back in August. Both happened with cars full of people - mega embarrassing.

Rear driver side window got “stuck” in down position due to some failure (actuator). Service was excellent and came out ASAP (after I whined considerably) to pull window up. Then had to have it at SC for 8 days while they waited for the part from the assembly line. Drove an Air during that time. Nice car, but NFW I’d buy it as I can’t imagine being so low to the ground when seated. I’m not that old and felt like I was 80. Good L-rd that car is low to ground.

I was told at delivery not to use the fob. It wasn’t reliable. SA told me that straight up. Spent much of first month using key cards and they worked fine - just annoying. Plenty of fob resets, new batteries, etc early on.

Had black screens several times, but rare post 3.3.5.

Have had times when car only will go in Drive, but had to back out. A reset has fixed this. Or getting out and walking away. These haven’t happened post 3.3.5.

Lots of key fob not detected errors before 3.3.5. Fob mainly behaves okay now (except when waiting for kids in carpool as once car goes into Park, fob sleeps pretty quickly and the amount of shaking required to wake it is astonishingly severe.

Lots of random errors at random times but all have improved over time.

Frunk has the double open issue and has been fixed by SC twice but not fixed.

Daily headlight and sensor warnings that are meaningless and go away.

Never been stranded at all, just annoyed and embarrassed early on.

Ideal? No. Expected? 100%. I’d read the forum and reviews and knew the risk and still took it. Still love the car and pros outweigh challenges for me. YMMV.

That’s the conundrum. Are you going to be like 80% of new owners with no to minimal issues, or like 15% of owners with moderate/somewhat annoying issues, or will you be one of the 5% of owners with significant/constant issues that truly effect your ability to trust and enjoy the car. Yes I know I am just guessing at the percentages but you get the idea.

Yes. We accidentally left the fob in the front console cradle when visiting friends last week, and the car locked itself (with my wallet also in the console along with my key card). I had put the fob there because, for some reason, the car was not recognizing it in my pocket as often happens. Fortunately, my partner had his wallet and key card on him, so we got in that way.

The Air does this too (especially during car washes) and I've always been able to unlock by pressing in the door handles. I haven't had the Gravity long enough to see if this happens, but I'd imagine the doors should unlock the same way?

I read the first sentence and knew immediately where you were headed. 😀 I keep the key card in my pocket when I'm washing the car. Saves the fob from unnecessarily using battery power as I'm moving around. Once while working on the tires, after a period of time, I heard the car lock.

After washing, when I'm spot checking for wet areas, I start with the door handles and mirrors to avoid them closing while I'm working on them. Carrying the fob would prevent that, but battery power is also being wasted. Just my preference.

Unless the fob goes to sleep. I picture having to jump up and down on the car hoping you can shake it enough to wake the fob back up. 🤣

I'm thinking the "if someone steals your ICE, your fault" is one of those security features.

Between fobs in consoles and fobs unknowingly falling out of the pockets of owners using auto lock, I think that safety feature keeps the Gravity off the list of unoccupied EVs with open door handles that car thieves look for. They're out there. Cars with flush door handles are easier to spot as unlocked.

In an extreme emergency (no fob or key card), my mobile tech has said he can remotely unlock the car; Lucid CS not needed. I'm hoping to never have to take him up on that.

If someone’s able to steal my Gravity, congrats to them. Lucid can kill it remotely as soon as I report it and insurance will cover it. I’d rather have the fob not lock itself inside.

Personal preference.

Also, between two key cards and the mobile app, fob locked in car isn't that bad.

My wife has no plans to drive my Gravity, but she has one of the key cards for "just in case".

Has anyone had experience with Roadside Assistance +1 (888) 995-8243 and if these folks can assist with a lockout? There are times where my key card is in side the car and I rely on the FOB (gym) no problems with vehicle access to date... Not sure if I should change my habits :)

You'd better check with Lucid Customer Care before assuming Roadside Assistance can provide help. They are third-party contractors and I doubt they have access to the car's software.

Lucid Customer Care can unlock the car remotely. That’s who I would call if needed - not the local roadside contractor…
