Gravity Bugs / Issues

Lucid Customer Care can unlock the car remotely. That’s who I would call if needed - not the local roadside contractor…

Limited hours, though . . . and now closed on Sunday. (Interesting that Sales is open Sunday, but Customer Care is not.)

As an East Coast person, those times are okay for me, but nothing Saturday night and nothing Sunday is an issue. Not sure why they can’t have 24/7 and just triage it. Call centers aren’t that expensive - especially if you only escalate a real issue.

I would be PISSED beyond belief if I couldn’t drive my car all day on a Sunday, for example.

What started as an intermittent software problem has now become steady state our Gravity that has a Sirius subscription. Every time we get into the car, the audio system has defaulted to Sirius even though it is displaying the song we last listened to and is showing the system as set to either Spotify or Tidal. The only way we can get back to the source we want is to go into the music library and pull up a selection we have heard before.

I have now added this exercise to the list of workarounds to slog through before getting underway.

we had the arctic blast happen today for the first time. I just kept hitting various climate buttons until it warmed up.
Yup, it happens now and then...the arctic blast. Just turn off the climate control and then turn right back on and back to normal. Just like the chime of death, getting stuck in creature comfort mode, and random faults with rear wheel steering, etc. are all easily cleared up. Here is what I have found:

Artic Blast - turn off climate control then right back on
Chime of death - reboot using buttons and brake
Creature comfort stuck - once in the car just open the driver's door and close again...creature comfort is off
Random faults - go away after leaving the car, move out of key range, and return, all seem to clear.
Dead screens - screens just go black, reboot fixes it

. . . random faults . . . are all easily cleared up.

Some might find comfort in the phrase "easily cleared up". But I find little comfort in the word "all" when we're talking about faults in a $140,000 car in 2025.

This list is as long and tedious as what it took to get underway in a car in 1905.

Well it least you don't have to hand crank it to start and you don't have to drive with a Mechanic.

100% agree. I would definitely buy it again. It’s by far my favorite car that I have ever owned. I have had my GGT since September and have had almost no issues. The OTA and fob updates fixed the one significant problem I had early on (fob didn’t start car a few times). All I have now are occasional and minor UI hiccups that for me do not detract from how amazing the car is.

For anyone considering buying a Gravity, I think it’s very important to decide if you are Ok with dealing with early adopter issues. If having problems (even if minor) will drive you crazy, then I would not buy a new model from a young startup. For me, watching the car improve via OTAs and looking forward to seeing what future updates will add/change is part of the fun. I know not everyone will feel the same and that’s Ok.
I think every needs to stop with the "just teething" and "early adopter" nonsense.....this car is far past the point where these challenges should be behind us and instead we have new ones being reported regularly. I would not buy the car again. I was an early adopter of both Tesla and Rivian vehicles, they didn't have anywhere near the number of issues the Gravity has and the company's that made them were able to get the issues resolved quickly and roll out new functionality.

We all come from different perspectives and places. My first year Taycan had about as many issues too. Porsche fixed the vast majority within a year or two, so I am comfortable to give Lucid the same grace, but I can understand if others are not. You are valid to feel how you do about it. I wish it was a really excellent experience all around with little to no bugs and issues.

Someone had mentioned the available hours of CS so I will plan to have a key somewhere outside of the vehicle home or away. My personal preference would be for the vehicle to remain unlocked if the FOB was inside irrespective of the risk, personally I would not leave the vehicle unattended and not special enough for it to be all about me :)

I would introduce you to our Lucid mobile tech, but he's unpacking right now and setting up his room. We both just figured it was easier than the daily trek out to our place.

I received word from my SA that he expects my ordered GGT to enter production this Thanksgiving week, and that he expects me to have the car in my possession by late December or the first week of January.

I’m excited…kinda. But prior to eventually taking delivery, I’m wondering if I should be starting a novena at the shrine of Our Lady of Perpetual Software Glitches.

You are getting it in December, ready or not. End of year is important…good luck

I think what really triggers people is the grotesque randomness of the car's behavior. It's one thing to accept that a certain feature is consistently broken or undeveloped due to early release or new technology, but it's a different thing when something works perfectly fine sometimes, but not always and you know it will likely fail at the worst possible moment, completely unexpected for no rhyme or reason, and later will recover as if nothing happened. I think we develop a Pavlovian response to these bugs, which can't be healthy. My emotional response can go from laughing it off to wanting to drive it off the cliff and collect insurance.

My wife HAD to borrow my car today for a carpool (long story having to do with our X).

When I gave her the key card and explained it would likely go to sleep while she waited and she would need to shake fob or use card, she almost lost it. Seriously. She was like “why doesn’t your car work? Wasn’t it super expensive?” and many more words I can not type here. She asked if we could just cancel the order for her GGT. 😢

Embarrassing. Now I have to listen to how great her X is, how at least it starts, etc. SMH

Love you Lucid, but do better.

FWIW, I’ve never had a time when the app wouldn’t unlock the car. That said if you’re in a parking garage with no signal, you’re screwed.

I always carry the key card in my wallet. I do the same for our R1S G1 quad as it had PaaK issues in the early days.

Sadly, only car we have where I don’t have to carry a keycard is the X. PAAK “just works”. Only carry a keycard if I have to valet.

When she gets home (wink wink), let us know how your Gravity behaved for her.
Hopefully it did well.
The key card "should" work, if the fob doesn't wake up.

Oh, she’s back. No issues (of course). And still talking about how great her X is. We are now an X v. Gravity household. Never thought I’d see the day when she was defending an Elon company, but gloves are off!

Of note to those with kids - kids quickly took the side of the Gravity for “way better” space in second row and third row, along with tray tables and two HVAC zones in rear. All kids also strongly voiced their love of Surround Sound Pro and Dolby Atmos.

She will rue the day she cursed the Gravity!

P.S. - if there’s a word stronger than “shake” Lucid should use it for the key fob warning. Perhaps “slap” or “beat”.

Agree... I feel like "early adopter teething pains" should be ok for new technology (early FSD, solid state batteries, etc), not to features that have reliably existed for a long time (entry, climate control, audio, seat management...)

Has anyone had experience with Roadside Assistance +1 (888) 995-8243 and if these folks can assist with a lockout? There are times where my key card is in side the car and I rely on the FOB (gym) no problems with vehicle access to date... Not sure if I should change my habits :)
Is there a reason you leave the key card inside the car, other than it being your preference/habit?
Could not the fob and card be kept in a locker during your workout?

I'm just trying to understand why you leave the key card inside the car, when it could be used as an alternative method to unlock the car and further minimize the possible need for roadside assistance. Similar to your experience with the car locking while you were washing it. You had another way to unlock the car; keycard.

Good!

One point for the Gravity!

I'm thinking someone is keeping score?
All rules established? Length of competition, kids' points are weighted, etc.
