Yes. @notchev has a youtube video about the two navigation screens at same time. I like the native map interaction (and charger info) much better but don’t trust its point to point routing especially when there’s traffic (it tells me to take weird detours, same on my Air as well). But you can’t route on both CP and native navigation simultaneously. Will have to see how to toggle things to get a good routine on place.

Yes, I believe so, but you can only use navigation in one of the two.

Ya, I'm old AF and grew up w/ paper maps/Thomas guides so 95% of the time just look at the map and where the blue dot is in iMaps instead of clicking "Directions like my wife always does. Using the native HERE map for Nav/charge routing on the Pilot Panel is fine and with the iMap up on the CP screen I think I'll be quite comfy and set

A time when people actually knew what to do and had an idea of where to go if they took a wrong turn. And the word "recalculating" didn't give away the fact that you were lost.

Old AF also means even though your car has 50,000 cameras, my head is on a swivel until they earn must trust.

Now that also depends on the last time you bought a new or "new to you" car.

I love Drive Assist, but Lane Change Assist and I continue to work on our trust relationship.

I do that too since it interrupts the music, but now I find I get into the music and forget to make turns So voice is back on at whatever setting I can find that is minimally differential to the music volume.

Now when the nav voice becomes AI enhanced with personalized comments like "You can't sing. You really need to just listen to the music.", you'll probably be turning off again.

I have no idea wtf's going on nowadays but I remember my mom sending to the store in her car to get eggs, bread, & milk starting about age 13/14. Seems like many of today's 16//17 yr olds are reluctant to go get a driver's license like they're terrified to drive or something.

That’s because driving is terrifying. Even as an adult, you’re still at the wheel of a literal weapon. If almost *anything* goes wrong, or you don’t pay attention for the wrong 3 seconds, you or someone else might die.

That’s not crazy to be scared of, heh.

But, it’s also fun as hell and getting over your fears is worth it, so buck up.

(As an aside, this is why I laugh when people talk about how “crazy” Alex Honnold is; that dude is not up on Taipei 101 working as hard as you’d have to be. He has climbed since he could talk. For him, driving is infinitely scarier, because the people at the wheel, himself included, are mostly overconfident novices. But on a rock? There is almost no place safer for Alex to be except sitting still. We take risks we don’t recognize every single day and the majority of that risk is outside our control. We just fool ourselves into a sense of comfort. Thanks for coming to my TED talk)

I updated to 3.5.1 yesterday. Noticed nothing dramatic yet on the first few drives. Which is fine by me, long as things work consistently!

CarPlay? Meh. Not sure what I'm going to do with any of that. On-board Tidal is already magical. On board mapping hasn't failed me yet. Dual mapping with Waze might interest me on LA freeways...

Music playback consistency is fixed -- Yay! First time I returned to car after a short drive I did not need to drill into the menus to re-start what I was listening to, it just magically resumed!

But I feel like Dream Drive got downgraded. I dislike / distrust all car automation beyond adaptive cruise-control, preferring to self-drive, so I spec'd with DD basic. Only disappointment after delivery is that the cameras around the car can only be turned on in the mobile app. I felt bait&switched when I realized (day one) that "Surrounding Object Visualization" did not mean live view in the Parking screen: the front & side cameras do not provide any actual "visualization" which astounds me on a $100K+ vehicle. I even tried to be a smartass & use live view in the mobile app on my phone to park in a tight space -- but discovered this only works when the car is parked & locked! Boo!

And with the new update, DD basic has now shaved off that little meager footprint of live video that previously appeared on the aerial view parking screen. Before, I could at least see parking lot stripes. Now I get the rear camera, and the top view of the car only has the (seemingly *less accurate*) distance-graphics, aka "Surrounding Object Visualization"...

I wish I could just a la carte order the "Surround View Monitoring" function, rather than the $1500 upgrade to get the DD Premium package... This seems steep just to access the three other cameras when parking. Particularly on a 3 yr lease.

And yes, had I fully understood the difference between "Surrounding Object Visualization" and "Surround View Monitoring" I would have spec'd DD Premium, and probably my payment would be $30 more a month...

End of rant. Need to call it out: I love this car!

Just drove about 350 miles on 3.5.1. So far so good.

1. Used mostly Google Maps on CarPlay — it was awesome. Definitely some nostalgia from my previous cars that had CarPlay, although Google Maps graphics are much more sophisticated now
2. I currently have both YouTube Music and Tidal subscriptions, so I compared them. YouTube Music doesn’t sound much inferior to Tidal in terms of quality. However, YouTube Music does have occasional minor gaps (about 0.1 sec). Not sure if that’s due to Bluetooth, CarPlay, or general Gravity hardware/software flakiness. The native Tidal app has never had those gaps for me
3. DreamDrive behaved the same — generally trustworthy lane keeping. I didn’t notice any difference compared to previous firmware versions
4. Charged at Ionna for the first time today. Arrived at 24% SOC. CCS-to-NACS adapter saved some time since two NACS stalls were occupied. Charging started at 400 kW but ramped down to around 380 kW in less than 30 seconds. I unplugged at 60% SOC at about 200 kW — roughly 10 minutes total charging time. Pretty good results, though I don’t have a comparison from before 3.5.1 since this was my first time charging at Ionna
5. P.S. 80+ mph speed decimates efficiency (plunged from 3.13 to around 2.99 mi/kWh), but that's expected

Tidal, even in not Atmos mode, sounds better than all other streaming services imo, I think it's worth the extra subscription.

One thing I've noticed is that the 'range map' no longer presents the hypothetical range that the existing SOC will take me. Has this been lost by anybody else?

2.99 at 80+ mph is pretty good actually. Nice.

I think the Native Tidal is superior to CP Tidal because you can actually search.

I think the CP nav apps (google, apple, and Waze) are slow and lag when you pinch to zoom or move around. The native navigation is way more responsive for me.

Yes - range spider - that was the term i was looking for. That is gone for me. Not that i've used it for travels yet but, it was an interesting insight.
