I often describe it as Lucid doing the hard things really well, but the easy things poorly.

The physical design of the Gravity is amazing. Huge space stuffed everywhere you look (and some you don't look), all in an outside footprint that's not huge. The powertrain is amazing. The range is amazing. Charging speed is amazing. Handling is great. It's (mostly) smooth and quiet, befitting a luxury car. Massaging leather seats are a dream.

But then there's so much "easy" stuff that many $40,000 vehicles do better. All the software bugs. A HUD that makes people wish they'd never wasted money on it. Certain features that I still scratch my head on how they left them out (SXM antenna, liftgate kick, PAAK (although that's coming), etc). And so on.

It's a real dichotomy.

I agree, minus two things:
1. the $40k argument. I don't think the price of the car matters, as these should be things no car messes up.
2. I'm glad it doesn't have the liftgate kick personally, as I seem to *always* trigger that by accident, haha, but I know others like it

(I also don't care about the SXM antenna, but part of me wishes they'd added it just so people never complained about it again, lol)

Speaking of "regressions in 3.51" does anyone else have "Standard" Dream Drive around here? Did you notice the significant change to the Parking Screen with the update?

I prefer to drive such a lovely-driving car so I spec'd the base DD.

The GGT has (no less than) four video-feed cameras, and the Owner's Manual indicated the base DD includes "Surround View Monitoring." It never occurred to me that I would only be able to access the four cameras when the vehicle is locked and I am not in it (aka "Live View Beta".)

Previously in the Parking screen top view you could see just about 6 inches around the car -- enough to see parking stripes to the sides, or the carefully placed rubber mat to the front in my too-tight garage. That tiny slice of surrounding video feed was entirely deleted with the 3.5.1 update.

Now all I get are the distance indicators, front & rear, and the rear camera view. Distance indicators seems to be +/- 6 inch accuracy, which is maddening when I need to park precisely in order to close my garage door -- while being able to open my dryer door!

Page 122 of the manual states the Dream Drive "parking experience" features include:

Parking Experience

- Automated Park In (Premium)

- Automated Park Out (Premium)

- Rear View Monitoring

- Park Distance Warning

- Surround View Monitoring

- Rear Parking Protection

NOTE: (Premium) These features are available with DreamDrive Premium and above.

The “Surround View Monitoring" is not indicated as a “Premium and above” feature so it should be part of the “Standard” Dream Drive. I've contacted Customer Care about the discrepancy between the manual & the actual features and the reply completely ignored that I am raising the issue of a misrepresentation in the Owner's manual:



Isn't every issue with this vehicle a "software related topic"?

I ordered mine with just the standard DD2 as well, for the same reason (I don't have any interest in the self-driving stuff). I didn't look closely enough at the differences between Standard and Premium (although I also found some unclear and possibly contradictory info in the various descriptions). Nonetheless, I was surprised to find such limited camera views, particularly on a car this premium.

I wasn't getting a top (overhead) view before the update though. Just front and rear basic views only. I do love the distance indicator. I find that extremely useful (even if not perfectly accurate). I'm a little surprised they didn't ax that one from DD2 Standard as well. I do notice it takes a second or two to settle on a number though. When I first pull into my garage and get within range of the front, there's a slight lag for the distance to catch up to how close I really am by then. So I need to wait a second or two for that. But that's fine since I'm only inching forward by then anyway.

They told me 2 months ago that they would be adding an Upgrade feature in the app to allow us to upgrade our DD2 level from Standard to Premium (for the +$1500 difference). I'll be doing that when (if?) it comes available. Just a software unlock, apparently. They said that was "coming soon" but we all know what that could mean.

What's even more ridiculous is how quickly some people accept and justify these embarrassing failures on a $100k+ luxury vehicle, even granting it awards and praises.

No need to respond with "it's hard to make a car" and "others are even worse", it's been beaten to death....

I believe Lucid's always paid attention to feedback and therefore I've always wondered if Lucid as a company would be any different today if the early adopters had been as vocal as they're now.
And I'm guilty myself of cutting slack for a new company -- perhaps too much.
I went for almost 2 years before complaining about geofencing problems upon delivery of my Air, holding out hope that the "next" software update would take care of it.
And around the 2 year mark of the introduction of Air, I posted in the forum about the slow development of Dream Drive Pro and that some leases were 50% done already.
As I recall, not a single response, reply, or reaction to my post back then.

As software designed as modern cars are, that seems like a feature that would be perfect to have with a simple toggle preference for whether you want it active or not.

This is fairly typical on a car with Auto Open/Close full up/down windows. Everytime an ICE version had the battery disconnected it had to be done.

I've never had to recalibrate my Toyota Highlander, and I have disconnected the battery more than once. Not saying that required recakibrations are unheard of, just that some manufacturers seem to have avoided the need for them in that circumstance.

I’ve put around 4000 miles on the Gravity since this update. I’m very happy with how everything is performing. Apple CarPlay made these long drives more enjoyable. After the first day minor glitches, nothing new to report and those previous glitches never reoccurred. I did once have to start Electrify America charging via the Lucid App. Most importantly, my CFO (wife) now thoroughly enjoys traveling in the Gravity.

There is one drawback from these long trips. There was pure carnage! The design of the front of the Gravity is optimal for catching insects. My trips were all across the desert in springtime, which is high season for flying insects. I had to wash the Gravity after every trip due to the caked on layer of hundreds of dead bugs and butterflies. Took towels and cleaner with me so that I could clean the windshield at each charge stop. Pure carnage. Never had quite this issue with my Air.

I have a similar issue with our Tesla Model Y. The front end is essentially flat and it's a bug catcher!
From the Tesla Owner's forum, I learned about these two products and they work well:

If anyone with "Standard" DD2 still has *not* updated to 3.5.1 -- it would be great to get a picture of that overhead view, with the micro-video slices around the car...

I suppose I have to admit that award for the "best designed SUV" is well deserved. We all gave this award to Lucid with our checkbooks, not knowing what will actually be delivered, but expecting it to have "no compromises" as promised.
So, as long as no one gives Lucid an award for "best execution" or "best release quality" we are still living in reality and not riding unicorns.

P.S. to explain my less than stellar mood, in recent weeks, in addition to the return of many software gremlins, I also have a rear gate interior panel falling off for no reason and driver side doors creaking like an old barn door when the car is parked in the sun. Looks like the heat is expanding metal parts in uneven ways, resulting in rubbing and creaking somewhere around door hinges.

By top view I thought you meant the 3D view. I do get (and did get before) this distance indicator, if that's what you mean.

I have a similar issue with our Tesla Model Y. The front end is essentially flat and it's a bug catcher!

DDP now works well, but I feel hands free will make for a much more relaxed driving. I was just thinking about that as I was using it today

Audio feeds are still driving me crazy. Spotify still doesn't work right (hangs up constantly). Internet goes away all the time too, often for the entire rest of the drive. Android Auto was a godsend. My cell phone signal is way more dependable than the car's, so I've been playing SXM through AA. But now all of a sudden AA tells me there's a problem playing any SXM channel I tell it using AA voice command. I can only get it to play by picking up the phone and starting it in the SXM app now (not a good idea while driving). The only thing that actually works right is FM, but I really don't wanna have to resort to that.

I'm mostly fine with DDP now as well - I already keep hands on steering wheel most of the time. Main benefit of hands free is that the annoying warnings will go away when on occasion it doesn't feel enough pressure on wheel.

May have already been mentioned but in a recent LinkedIn post by EV, Lucid confirmed with a comment that Gravity HFDA is on track for Q2 as stated at investor day. The configurator has been updated to reflect this.

My second row squeak has turned into a model x-like pirate sheep creaking sound coming from somewhere in third row area - I think. I hate it. But also don’t want to have car in service forever to fix, so I will add it to the list.
