Grand Touring Glass Roof, Yay or Nay?

Hey thinking about ordering a Grand Touring, what do you think of the glass roof? I am still on the fence trying to convince myself it will be okay but besides the heat I am afraid it will get chipped, got about 3 chips in my current model S which I haven't changed winshield since 2019.

Has anyone had their roof damaged yet?

Any thoughts?

All windshields get chipped and cracked. That is what insurance is for.

It is lovely and makes the inside truly feel spacious and airy. I haven't had any issues, 2600 miles in, but then I've never had to replace the glass on my 2013 Model S either.

The heat issue seems to be variable. Some people have an issue with it, other don’t.

One person on this forum has tinted the roof. Dunno if that is an in between option for you.

And you could always cover the glass in vinyl wrap if you wanted!

For me the glass canopy is what makes the car special.
