Front Ultrasonic Sensor Fault

Well I'm not paying the $2,300 that's for sure. Out of curiosity which one of the front sensors did they have to replace on your car? Was it one of the two that are basically on the sides of the front bumper? Or was it one of the more centrally located ones? Evidently that can make a difference
Attaching snapshot from my service receipt so you can shove it in the face of whoever is asking you for $2300...I don't exactly recall which sensor it was but I think it was the one towards more the middle of the bumper.... not the extreme side of the bumper...good luck...

Get PPF on at least front of your car. Helps prevent potential rock chips like this including to those sensors.
I had PPF too...the good stuff and it still didn't help...

they changed mine for free a while back. did you hit something?

Dang! Helps prevent but not impenetrable I guess. That’s why I hate driving behind semis, trucks, and large pickups on crappy roads because they kick up the little rocks and stones that create chip damage that are expensive to repair. Sorry that it happened.
Thank you. I know it kinda stinks. But, with the amount I drive, it's unavoidable. But, that shop is basically trying to commit highway robbery. I really hope it's not because they know I'm 6 hours from the nearest actual Lucid Service center.

You can’t PPF the sensors; shops will cut out the PPF for the various sensors around the car.

I paid $553.96 in 2023 for one sensor on the front left closer to the center than the side. I could not see any damage until they pointed it out...a tiny crack in it.

You can leave the PPF on but it messes with the sensors. The parking assist will come on just randomly because the sensors aren't flush on the bumper so air eventually gets in behind the PPF triggering them to go off. Both times I had PPF done and they left it on with a "See how it goes" only for me to take it back 2 weeks later and tell them to cut it out.

I have PPF over my sensors and cameras. My wrap guys actually suggested it to prevent rock chip damage. They had me bring the car back 1 week after the initial application and then they made sure the film was flush on each sensor and camera lens. That one week my sensors and cameras were a bit whacky but never had problems after the second visit. 🤷🏻
