Lucid Air Touring
While using Automatic Cruise Control today on the road going about 40 mph, the car in front of me slowed down to make a left turn. No big deal I think and the car slows down by itself as intended...but then suddenly a fault pops up saying Front Ultrasonic Sensor not working, try cleaning the sensors.

That was around noon earlier today and after numerous hard resets, Air logo resets, Bobby resets and calling customer care, the fault still exists. It's not a critical fault but I'm gonna be on the road for 12hrs tomorrow and would love not to have to deal with this fault. Nothing is physically damaged and I've cleaned the sensors to a squeaky clean including the lidar and radar and anything that throws out a sound or electromagnetic wave ... There was no physical contact of any kind whatsoever....any ideas on what I could do besides take it in for service?

Yes, that happened to me. You will need to take the car to service so they can replace one of the ultrasonic sensors. It is not a big fix but will cause your parking assist and surrounding view not to work until that sensor is replaced.

The issue is with one of your ultrasonic sensors in the front bumper. It is those little circle sensors. Number 5 on pic below.

Thank you.. I figured as much. It's odd though that these sensors can go bad just like that. Oh well...

I just had a similar experience, but Lucid Service says it's not covered under warranty because it's damaged. I've had no accidents and there's no visible damage, but they are saying it might have been a rock chip. Has anyone else had to pay to have it replaced?

Yeah, I paid about $300 or so to get it replaced. Mine had a very clear chip/damage on it though. I recall exactly when it stopped working when I was driving, but I did not hear any rock hit the car. Oh well...they turned it around in like 2 days

this just happened to me last week and the mobile guys yesterday felt the tiniest nick on one of the sensors and said that's all it takes for the entire front parking assistance to stop working. gonna cost $35 for the sensor + 1-2 hours of labor at $225/hr.

Had this issue, they booked me an appointment almost 2 months out back in April.

Appointment was 2 weeks ago, where they informed me that now that I've dropped it off, they don't have a loaner and it will be sitting in a "queue" for 2 weeks before it got looked at.

Well it's two weeks later, and they are now telling me that they want $855 to replace the $35 sensor.

$35 for the sensor + $275 for diagnosis + $577 for the repair.

No wonder this brand is going down the drain. Should have bought a Taycan.

Understand the frustration but doubt Porsche repair bill would make you happier 😅

It sucks when a rock hits a sensor but Audi was $1200 for a similar issue 🤷‍♂️

At least Porsche would provide me with a proper loaner, and work on the car day of dropping it off on the appointment.

Not have me drop off the car just for it to be sitting in 116° heat for 2 weeks, not being looked at, while I drive around a $19,000 Hyundai.

Did you see my post above where Lucid charged me 300 for the sensor repair? Not sure why you're being quoted almost 3 times that...it absolutely sucks I get it but luxury cars be this way...

Is this Costa Mesa?

Has anybody had one of these sensors replaced by a lucid authorized service center and not directly by lucid?

Bumping this because I was just told by a Lucid Authorized body shop that it's going to be $2300 to replace mine.... Ummm... What?!?!

I've called the Lucid service center for a quote.

Are they nuts? I got mine changed at Lucid's service center for something like 360 bucks...I'd make the trek to Lucid to get it done right and pay a lot less...2300 bucks is no bueno for me..

Well I'm not paying the $2,300 that's for sure. Out of curiosity which one of the front sensors did they have to replace on your car? Was it one of the two that are basically on the sides of the front bumper? Or was it one of the more centrally located ones? Evidently that can make a difference

Get PPF on at least front of your car. Helps prevent potential rock chips like this including to those sensors.

I have it
Dang! Helps prevent but not impenetrable I guess. That’s why I hate driving behind semis, trucks, and large pickups on crappy roads because they kick up the little rocks and stones that create chip damage that are expensive to repair. Sorry that it happened.
