Front 21" Tire Shortage

You are correct, I just had these Michelin tires installed at Costco. Although there are other tires this size available from Continental, Hankook, Bridgestone and others, the Pirelli and Michelin are the only ones that are HL (high load) rated to handle the weight of the Lucid Air. For some reason, Tire Rack only lists the Pirelli’s as compatible, but these Michelins are exactly the same specs including the High Load rating.

Are these Michelins all season or summer tires?

I can't find anything online about them and Costco appears to be the exclusive retailer so I'm super curious @vpatrice, since I need to swap mine out in the next couple months.

Are these Michelins all season or summer tires?

There are only 2 tires available that will fit the 21" rims and support the weight of the Lucid Air, the Pirelli's that come with the vehicle and the Michelin Pilot Sport EV. They are both summer tires. I did extensive research and found the proper sizes for the front and back available from Continental, Bridgestone and Hankook that are all season tires, but none of these are "HL" or high load rated. I spoke with the Lucid Service Manager at Tyson's Corner and was told that other owners have used the non "HL" rated tires that are all season, but I didn't want to take a chance putting tires on my Lucid Air GT that aren't designed or recommended for the car. Most tire places won't even install them unless they are recommended by the manufacturer. Tire Rack will only install the Pirellis and don't even recognize that the Michelin's are fully compatible even though they are exactly the same size and "HL" rated, just like the Pirelli's.

My situation was a little unique. I purchased a 2022 Lucid Air GT that was never driven - it only had 37 miles on the odometer when I bought it the end of June 2024 and got a great deal. However, because it sat in the previous owner's garage for over 2 years, the Pirelli tires developed flat spots that made for a rough ride like the tires were out of balance, so they needed to be replaced.

I choose the Michelin tires over the Pirelli's because the reviews were better on the Michelin tires. Both have a 20,000-mile warranty, but the Pirelli average life was rated less than this and the Michelin's were rated significantly longer. I have been very happy with the Michelin tires, but really wish I could have purchased all season tires. Hopefully by the time I need to replace these, someone will have the correct size tire that is HL rated and all season.

I went with Costco because they have great pricing and provide a 5-year pro-rated road hazard warranty at no additional cost. If you have 21" rims, the chance of damaging the tires is very high, so this was a key factor in going there. There was no issue with Costco being able to install on my Lucid Air GT.

I found out that other places carry them, but Costco is the only one that I found that actually recommends them for the Lucid Air. They ride nice and smooth. I have always liked Michelin tires. The exact same size and warranty and about the same price as the Pirellis.

I did extensive research and found a website that reviewed performance tires. They had a review on both the Pirelli and the Michelins. The biggest problem with the Pirellis is the life expectancy. I remember the difference was about 10,000 miles between the two.

I don’t remember the specific website, but I do remember that they rated the wear and life of the tires very differently. Both tires were rated good performance, but the Michelin tires were rated to last significantly longer. I just googled performance tire reviews, and found a site that had a good review on both of them.

I've had these Michelin tires on my EQS for the last 10K miles.
No problem with handling, but I'm probably a more sedated driver than you. Noise is acceptable.
Looks like they will last a lot longer than the Bridgestones OEM which were worn down by 12K mileage.
