I purchased 2023 Lucid Air Touring in August of 2023. Since then I have had the following experiences. I am wondering how other people’s experiences have been?
1. 5 physical Frunk repairs. Includes alignment of frunk, nose trim and inner lining replacements.
2. 2 months after purchase range plummeted from 400 to 200 miles with 80% charge.
3. Driverside carpet mat moves under accelerator pedal - safety issue reported in Jan of 2024 and Lucid reported “working as expected”. Last month I received a formal safety recall notice for this matter. Lucid has refunded me $50 for the mat and threw the mat in the trash. I have no carpet mat in drivers side any longer.
4. 4 blow outs, 2 with family in the car. The vehicle only supports one tire in the world. We are not allowed to install michelins per service center due to weigh and speed ratings.
5. 3 windshield replacements
6. On average it takes 2 months to obtain a service appointment. I am currently driving over 140 miles into the gut of LA from San Diego county to get the frunk and windshield repairs because they could get me in 6 weeks as opposed to Costa Mesa which as 13 weeks out.
7. Drivers side door gasket broke and was replaced.
8. Rear passenger door interior leather stitching started coming undone within 6 months of ownership. Lucid denies coverage in warranty.
9. Schedule charging (with lucid wall box) fails 50% of the time. We no longer use it due to unreliability, even with latest 2.7.0 software version update.
10. Several software and adas defects ranging from intermittent camera, sensors, brakes, audio and more. These are impossible to diagnose with Lucid because they can only look back 30 days and need time stamps from owner. So the MILs and codes are lost during the long time waiting for service appointment.
I am feeling regretful about this purchase. Car seems extremely fragile with potential major design flaws and there is a real lack of support and customer service. I do not feel like my expectations of an OEM are unrealistic but these consistent fails seem incredibly problematic to the brand.
Is this experience unique? Curious to hear your feedback.
