Did a comparison of EPA vs. WLTP efficiency using advertised combined numbers (with charging losses) and efficiency as battery capacity divided by advertised range (without charging losses). Interesting to see that the Touring / Grand Touring shows much better relative efficiency in WLTP than EPA (I used the 2025 Pure RWD as 100%). Any thoughts why this is the case?

EPA and WLTP tests are done at different temperatures, speeds, and with different "correction" factors applied. One is estimating the volume of a watermelon by measuring only its width, and the other by measuring only its length. WLTP testing almost always results in substantially higher efficiency and range figures than EPA, though it is much less accurate for most people.

2025 Airs used a slightly different (stricter) EPA test than preceding years.
