Engineering Explained. This is bad.

no need to keep blasting whoever the hell Nick Twork is, you will run him off and get nothing.

and what do you want them to say? They know the software is shit. The EE video has had no effect on their stock, had no measurable effect on their sales, why waste their time on it? They need to rebuild their software team more than they need to patronize a youtuber. It would be as stupid as hiring Nick Chalamay to make a sexy commercial instead of making key fobs that work before you sell the car.
Look at OOS video at 30 minutes, a non working key fob. Who in the world has ever heard of that? The fact that Lucid has these issues AGAIN with the Gravity is absolutely atrocious and they deserved to be publicly shamed! I have no words to describe how angry I am that they would release the Gravity in such a state. A magnificently engineered vehicle let down by incompetent software engineering!

FURTHERMORE- of all the things wrong with the software…switchable CarPlay profiles being slow? Who cares?? That’s exactly what most viewers will say. The videos showing people unable to operate the cars are way more damaging. But the EE one is just an angry engineer, which is their natural state.

He also did a video smashing Tesla with what 4 million views? And that did….nothing at all... to Tesla.

Some of these influencers actual influence is totally overblown.
But it affects Lucid more, they have low volumes and loosing couple of thousand sales will hurt them a lot! And they don’t have brand recognition- or maybe they will forever be recognized for crappy software!

Review said it perfect: the Germans would have never let the car leave the factory in that condition.

Seriously, this is about the fourteenth time we’ve asked you to stop repeating yourself.

“Who in the world has ever heard of that?” Literally all of us. Not the least because you keep posting it over and over on every thread, relevant or not.

Please. Stop. You’ve been asked plenty. Keep it to a relevant thread. This thread literally isn’t even about the OOS video.

Lucid is Shaquille O'Neal. They are a dominant force on the court but cannot seem to make any free throws.

and it's the 4th quarter and he keeps getting hacked!

I drove my Lucid Air last night and it was perfect. It unlocked when I approached the vehicle. It remember the audio source (and song) I was listening to when I left the car 2 hours before. It drove like a dream. My passengers in the back complimented me on the comfort and said it was like a Town Car. I thought of this thread and shook my head. There is so much to like.

I'm guessing the fact that the software bugs are inconsistent (in some cases) makes them all the more difficult to solve.

Do you guys really have so much software issues? I have been driving my Air for a year and a half now and clocled 27k km and yes I did twice had no sound because I didn't let the car properly boot before driving out, but it was fixed with a quick reboot and past that I never had an issue with anything vital (like the regen issue some have mentioned or other more serious bugs. One thing is clear, a program always executes in the same way, so it cannot be that some have major issues and other don't without some external factor. I am not saying Lucid software is automatically perfect, like any software it must have bugs and with a few 10k cars out they shure don't have the feedback that Tes'a has on its software, but reading those threads it sounds like the apocalypse and frankly this is not my expérience and driving my Air has not been more frustrating than any other car I had before. I would say I quite enjoy it

there's the rub. why is it seemingly so random between vehicles?

This view assumes that all hardware and hardware manufacturers have stayed the same over the years. Which probably isn’t the case. A 2022 GT unlikely has *identical* components to a 2025 Pure.

Yep, that is a key question. I would guess that the boot sequence is a key factor and probably a weak point in Lucid stack. If you start driving too quickly, it seems some things don't finish booting and then issues appear. It is clear that once the car drives, some of the software resources are (rightly) prioritized to supporting driving, but that means other that are less vital (like sound) may not get properly loaded. My Air needs a good 40-60 seconds to fully boot and that is probably a key issue in Lucid software stability. Drivers are not used to waiting for their car to finish booting and 60 sec is a loooong time. But in terms of experiencing issues versus not experiencing issues, I have noticed that waiting that extra minute makes a big difference. This will be a hard one for Lucid because they will have to choose between accepting a more power consuming "standby" that will boot immediately and, alternatively, preventing the car to drive before all functions are booted...

I guess you don't switch profiles, especially, in the middle of a drive.

The complications, slowness... are universal across all Lucid profiles.

Switching profiles should be quick and simple but Lucid has over-sophisticated the process.

Switching profiles in my wife's Hyundai Santa Fe is VERY cumbersome.

It's glacially slow to actually switch in my wife's Genesis GV60, but otherwise relatively reliable and trouble free.

so what I’m hearing is lucids tech is on par with Hyundai…

I'd say it's a mixed bag. Some of Lucid's tech is miles ahead, some is miles behind, and some is about on par.

I do switch profiles, but never tried while driving effectively. My experience with switching is that, again, it does a full reboot and takes 40-60 seconds to complete, so back to my first comment about some things not starting or not starting properly when the boot is not allowed enough time. It is clearly something Lucid needs to take a look at. Most functions can be changed while driving so it is possible but I have the impression it is whole modules that don't load correctly when the boot sequence is interrupted. It woumd be interesting to know if you all also see an improvement in stability when the boot sequence is left going to the end before driving. The only way we can help Lucid (and I think we all want to see them succeed, if for nothing else, just so our cars are still serviced in 10 years 😊) is by giving them very specific situations (ehat happened when, which car, which version, can it be reproduced). I am on an air grand touring purchased in august 2024 and run the latest version of the software.
