Drafty windows when cold?

2025 Lucid Air Touring
Just picked up a 25 AT in November, I have had the car in to service now twice for this. When it’s cold enough (32F or less), I have noticed that a cold draft comes from the upper back part of the drivers window when driving, even when parked if it’s windy enough.

The latest diagnosis from the service center is that I should expect a cold draft from the window when it’s cold out, but that the window seal isn’t leaking, it’s simply because the window itself is cold. I could buy into this theory if the HVAC was on and blowing across the window and it cooled off, but I can turn the HVAC off and still feel the draft coming from the upper corner of the window.

I am sure others have run into this. Any quick tricks? Not sure why I am trying to solve issues with leaky window seals on a nearly $100k car.

Thanks in advance…

2024 AT. Same thing. Theory is that the window gasket gets less flexible in the cold and loses seal with the window. If my car is in my garage it doesn’t happen but left outside all day in the 20’s it’ll do it.

Have Lucid replaced your window gasket/seal ?

i had the same issue.

The air draft is most noticeable on cold/windy days, i can feel the air coming in when i hold my fingers around the door frame, especially on the front driver door. It's also noticeable in the automatic car wash when the air dryer is running, draft from car wash dryer can be felt entering the cabin. Took it in for service, they addressed the "glass run seals", and the flushness of the door. At delivery, my driver's door was slightly misaligned relative to the rear driver's door. It's almost like the front driver's door was slightly rotated clockwise by a couple degrees, i didn't think much of it, until winter when the draft issue became very noticeable.

the repair by the service center decreased by air draft by 70%, so it's better for sure, but it's still present. I'll try the hack Bobby shared with the extra weatherstripping. I also applied the "Gummi Pflege Stift" weather seal conditioner as soon as i got it car, as i've used it in previous cars to keep the weatherstripping in good condition.

Concern: Customer states there's a cold draft coming in from the LF window/door, can also hear a wind noise, customer can duplicate the concern
when driving over 70mph but can also be felt around 50mph on a very cold day, check and advise.

Cause: the side glass run seals for LF and LR doors to be warped causing a proper seal and creating wind noise.
Both LH side doors require adjustment to address flushness at top of Side Door Glass Run Seals where front and rear doors meet
Replacement of both LF side door glass run seals is required to address customers concern.

Corrections: Test drove vehicle and confirmed a cold draft, wind noise coming from LF door.
inspected LF door area and found the side glass run seals for LF and LR doors to be warped and both LF side doors to be out of adjustment.
Removed LF interior door panel, removed LF glass, removed LF Side Door Glass Run Seal, cleaned the adhesive tape stuck to door, installed new LF
Side Door Glass Run Seal, installed glass and interior door panel.
replaced RR Side Door Glass Run Seal, checked and confirmed proper fitment and sealing to both Side Door Glass Run Seals.
Performed door adjustment to both LH side doors. confirmed proper flushness at the Side Door Glass Run Seal.
Test drove vehicle and verified repair, cold draft, wind noise is not present.

Why is this problem still happening? You would think by now it would have been fixed. Does anyone know if a fix will ever occur?

I have had and still have this problem; love that we are arguing over if these are the best cars in the world in some forums, and others have youtube videos of DIY projects with weather stripping to stop drafts that apparently every model experiences giving the right environment.

These are one of the best cars in the world so it makes no sense that the only options available to fix it is for the owners to have to do an aftermarket fix on their own to resolve the problem which could void the warranty. I assumed the problem was fixed for 2025 after all the complaints in the forums.

SC's mostly deny it's an issue and pushed back on me, I had to make a video showing airflow with taped papercut into strings to show them dancing by the door frame to get them to do anything about it.

@marqie Any idea whether this is a known issue and whether there's a TSB to fix?

Another good thread on the topic..

I tried Bobby’s weather stripping for this exact issue. Unfortunately, no help at all. Definitely seems like a poor seal with wind entering upper back of front windows. Can even feel it coming forward from under the driver’s seat.

Check the "wind noise" thread I posted above. It talks about a theory with the window gasket/seal in the cold losing seal with the window. Particularly around the corner join, which is the area where we feel that draft!

It's interesting, because in the morning with my car in the garage, my commute to work doesn't have a problem, even on the highway. But after the car sitting outside for 8 hours, when I drive home it always leaks cold air. So its got to be something to do with the rubber losing seal with cold shrinkage or similar.

Yeah, my car is parked outside.

On the bright side, the preheat does a good job (reminder: don't use defrost on the keyfob when the windows are very cold or you run the risk of cracking your windshield like I did) of getting the car comfortable before driving off and limiting the range loss from the draft windows.

There is a TSB addressing sealing issues. Please contact your SC for assistance.

Great question. Also why does a 2025 vehicle have a misaligned door?

I’m on my third steering wheel replacement and it’s creaking again. Maybe more felt in more places will fix it. Seems like the Lucid strategy.

This has been happening almost all winter so far on my 2023 Pure.
It was purticularly bad when I drove the car to work yesterday, and it sat all day in 25 degree weather.
The drive home was noisy, windy, and very cold on the left side of my head.
Had to turn the cabin heat up to 80!

I will definitely be calling this in, and the other thread showing the gasket joints was interesting. I'll have to look at mine.

I've ALSO noticed that when I open the driver side door, I can feel it "dropping" maybe 1/8inch, which seems like it's sagging or out of alignment.
That was not a noticeable thing as recent as 4 months ago.
I thought that might be a contributor to the drafts also.
