Days Since The Last Major Feature Release... Yikes!

135 days as of today, per @Bobby's excellent tracking site. Given all the features on the 'soon' list, need I say more?
Hoping that the delay means something big, but honestly it’s probably just that their entire SW team is working on Gravity. I hope Air updates come more than 2-3 times a year in the future.

Yeah it’s very disappointing. When I leased this car I was expecting ( based on previous years updates, and taking with Lucid representatives) that my car will be very frequently updated and receive new features.
It’s definitely a big factor for me leasing another one in 10 months .
Ps . For the lucid fanboys please don’t tell me just to enjoy how nice the car drives ! That’s not the point

The company is spending a fortune ramping up their capability for high growth, which IMO is a sound long-term strategy. I think another sound long-term strategy would be taking such good care of the company's early adopters that there is a solid base of enthusiastic advocates. If Lucid needs to hire a few more software engineers to keep that strategy on-track, the added cost would be a relative nit in their spending profile. They are trying to buy demand with wildly aggressive pricing. Why doesn't it make at least as good economic sense to buy demand with wildly satisfied early adopters?

Lucid’s primary focus seems to be on engineering. The sluggish and buggy updates indicate that the software team is relatively small, and resources were allocated to engineering projects instead. While it’s possible that things may change with Peter’s departure, the reality is that Lucid owes us V2H, Android Auto, and nothing more.

It’s unfortunate that Lucid didn’t invest more in the software department like Tesla and Rivian, but it’s clear that this isn’t a top priority for them.

Don’t forget “hands free” for Dream Drive Pro

Yes, but I would argue that their objective should be exceeding expectations. Not just meeting them. Especially given the time elapsed. Things like Sentry Mode, while not originally promised, would fit that category for me. Especially in the case of new features being released in the Gravity, it would be a wise move IMO for Lucid to at least explore what it would take to get the feature into the Air, albeit as a lesser priority item than the promised ones, and I would wager they are doing that to at least some degree. (As a side note, I would give them a break on V2H, as that seems to be an elusive one for a lot of players in the EV game.)

I don’t expect a major Air feature update until Gravity deliveries are ongoing and Lucid is satisfied with the state of the Gravity’s software.

Hands-Free for DDP is close, but no cigar. The expectations originally set went well beyond that.

I am going to sit back and enjoy the drive. I do hope features are updated more rapidly , especially for those who have the valid complaint of sluggish software performance and upgrades. I personally don’t care about hands free driving, although it will be pretty cool. The car’s software needs improvement, but I am one owner who is not very dissatisfied.

To be clear, I don't think anywhere on this thread has said they are dissatisfied. Quite the contrary. The aspirational objective we are talking about is to move the needle further to the right of satisfied.

I know you are not dissatisfied , but I suspect a few others are, judging from some of the posts. That’s fine, I’m just not in that camp.

Was originally going to be highway pilot (Hands Off, Eyes Off). They quickly backpedaled on that one!

I think it’s just one guy. 30 hours a week part-time 😂
And he's not even a Lucid employee!

On a serious note though, I'd prefer fully-baked feature updates that don't break existing functionality or introduce new problems even if that means longer periods between updates. The whole "move fast and break things" mentality is cute and fun for your Iphone application, but it has very different ramifications for 2+ tons of mass moving at 75mph.

Screenshot is the roadmap for Air shared during the tech and manufacturing day event last September. Few from our community were in attendance. I hope we will see all of these features delivered. They delivered some already.

Doesnt say these enhancements will come to the air. If gravity has any or all these features and air has some, they will have delivered on the presentation's promises.

Yes but Lucid isn’t taking that approach. It’s “move slow, still break things”

There’s nothing majorly wrong with the software in the car, but there are still some minor issues and areas that need improvement. I had an experience today where the navigation system would lower the music and speak during one part of my trip, but it would abruptly cut the music out completely before speaking in the next part. This is just one example but it’s these inconsistencies that are quite frustrating, especially considering that this particular issue has been around for a quite a long time. It’s disappointing that Lucid hasn’t addressed these inconsistencies sooner. Whether Lucid may want to add new features or not, it’s crucial to prioritize fixing the existing inconsistencies. At the moment, it seems like everything has come to a halt, and Gravity shouldn’t be used as an excuse. It’s not like Lucid was unaware of the model’s launch date and timeline.

Some of the slides point to it being Air compatible for sure. I’m hopeful that most of the Gravity improvements make their way to the Air.

I think the more they are rushed to deliver on something the more likely it is they will deprecate the old software and make it less comparable, simple because programmers under pressure to deliver like to cut corners… I know from experience lol.
