Days Since The Last Major Feature Release... Yikes!

Lucid can deny it all it wants, but the Air is now definitely second fiddle to the Gravity.
Because the Gravity has gotten so many OTAs? What does this even mean?

Do you think software engineers are in the factory bolting panels together? lol

To be fair, while the last update didn’t add any features, it did improve DreamDrive Pro dramatically in my opinion.
Still yells at me every 10 seconds- I get it- I'm going in a straight line.

I disagree with this line of thinking though, anyway, as @Bobby knows; tracking “major features” is not all that useful, as I’d argue fixing DDP *was* a major feature.🤷‍♂️

Let's just agree to disagree on this, as your DDP comment illustrates that we have very different views on where 'fixes' ends and 'new features' begins.

I understand your definition (and Bobby’s) of what a new feature is, and so that’s fine; I recognize I’m in the minority on that one.

Anyway, we’ll see which of us is right in the next couple OTAs; will there be a new feature, by your definition? My bet is yes.

Yours?

No, we won't see which one of us is right, as I'm not saying that new features are never coming. Rather, I'm asking where the hell they are. If one or more major features hit in the next couple OTAs, you may feel vindicated, but I will just feel relief.

If it helps get the Gravity out of the damn factory and in to peoples driveways then yes! All hands on deck! 😛

Apart from V2H and Android Auto Lucid owes us nothing except continued DreamDrive enhancements / refinements

Any new feature should be met with a thank you, you didn’t pay for it nor was it promised rather than a demand.

I'll settle for those. Did I suggest otherwise?

I think Lucid's software resources are being focused on Gravity. It's no coincidence that the OTA update frequency fell of a cliff during the run-up to and launch of the Gravity.

I am both a LCID shareholder and a happy Lucid owner. I bought my new Pure AWD outright in late ‘23, and have no regrets, but that does not mean that I am oblivious to Lucid’s shortcomings. That, I have unfortunately found, is a difficult position to articulate on this forum, as it seems that anyone spewing anything other than effusive praise is more often than not met with varying degrees of ire, occasional misquotes, and rarely outright hostility.

The saving grace of this forum is that it seems to have the attention of Lucid management, so I occasionally like to use it to poke at their soft underbelly, and to remind them that all is not sweetness and light among the faithful. (I do try to at least use a bit of humor in the process.)

Maybe I have been wrong to do so; especially as I can’t say that stirring the pot has been an effective strategy.

Not vindicated at all. I don’t know where I intimated I was happy those aren’t out yet, or where I suggested that they should be taking this long.

I will feel relief, mostly because then I can stop reading about them every damn day.

Please. There are countless threads about the problems with Lucid, the Air, customer service, OTA updates, the software, nav, and dozens of other things.

Nobody is oblivious. I’m not happy that OTAs seem to have slowed down, nor am I ignorant of the fact that they have, recently. I don’t know where you think I was denying that fact.

This forum is useless if not read by Lucid? Okay.

I guess I should just stop helping or posting.

This is a forum for owners. Your stirring the pot as an attempt to get Lucid’s attention may or may not work, but it is not conducive to helping other owners.

Look, our goals here are aligned: we want to see the car, and the company, improve.

Every time we disagree on something, or provide an alternative viewpoint, we’re met with “you’re being hostile or have your head in the sand or a fanboi” or some similar such nonsense.

None of that is true. I have previously written about my issues with the car and company, as recently as today. So have all the other mods.

AA isn’t one of my issues, because I don’t own an Android device. That doesn’t mean I don’t think it should be out.

Intelligent and well-meaning people are allowed to disagree on some topics, and agree on others.

I started the day thinking it might be my last on the forum. Looks like I was right. Thanks, all. It's been fun!

No roasting, but as the thread title states, we are talking major features as opposed to tweaks and fixes. Long promised things like AA, sentry mode, hands-free DDP, etc...
fwiw, to me, code is code, regardless of whether we arbitrarily call it a new feature or not. I hope they continue to improve the car and give it more capability, and will look forward to those other things if they are delivered, and I hope they are.

Please step away and chill folks, we want and need you on the forum.

My guess, based on software development experience: the reason for no "major feature" OTAs recently is that they are preparing UX 3.0 for the Air.

In one sense, they probably are prioritizing Gravity. Not because Air is less important. Rather, creating a single codebase that supports different generations of hardware takes a lot of iteration and testing.

I would not be surprised if the Gravity software team is larger. UX 3.0 is Version one of the software for Gravity. The new features are being developed with that hardware as the target.

The Air team is likely tracking down all the places where the cars are different, fixing bugs caused by different timings, different displays.

There may even be features where they are unable to achieve parity...where Air doesn't have some capabilities that Gravity has, simply because the hardware is years newer on Gravity.

Some small examples: the Air has different steering wheel controls. They need to make sure the User Experience (UX) is as polished as possible for both platforms. The Air main screen is three separate displays with gaps. Gravity has one seamless display.

In summary, it's not uncommon for the old version of a platform to stop getting new features when a new version is upcoming. And I expect that is what we are seeing here.
