My Lucid Air software version is 2.8.7. While driving today, the dashboard screen went dark. It came back after the car was stopped and out into park.

Same thing for me too. 2 days after updating. So weird.

That's must be scary. I just got back to the US after a week overseas, I updated to 2.8.7 not haven't driven the car yet.

Does the car still drive normally, even with the screen going out (no power loss??)

Also, was this a one time thing?

It’s fixed (temporarily) by a reboot.

I deeply recommanded to all Lucid owners who made the upgrade to 2.8.7 to manually force a soft reset before taking the road. Otherwise you may find your dashboard frozen and not operate. Some DreamDrive Pro not working properly or at all.
Save you troubles and force a Soft Reset before taking the road.

The car drove as usual but no displays on the dashboard.

I was initially worried that the car would stop driving. I was able to quickly find a spot to stop and put it into park and everything was fine again, I'll do a soft reset as someone here recommended and hope it won't happen again.

Went for a drive this morning, center cockpit screen went blank, again, during my drive. Pulled over then put it in PARK. Back to normal. This is the 2nd time after installing 2.8.7

From what people as describing; it seems the screen goes to sleep.

Drives normal…but you don’t know how fast you’re going! It’s happened 3 times now since the update.

I encountered the same problem you described!

It makes me wonder, does Lucid actually validate their SW updates rigorously before release?!

Yes. But clearly their testing suite and/or process is not complete or extensive enough yet (I imagine).

And you’ve released how many complex software systems?
Systems architecture complexity leads to use cases that can’t be readily identified. If you spend the time then you release software that is ancient when brand new.

more than a few I reckon

Hey, folks. You are responding to a pretty old release... 2.8.7 while we are currently on either 2.8.16 or 2.8.17, depending on timing.
