My love of the enveloping windshield of the Lucid Gravity has run into a slight crack. The unique look that I fell in love with has a fatal flaw in that it is really hard to replace. Safelite won't even touch it. They don't even list "Lucid" as an option in the drop-down menu when you're reporting an issue.

Has anybody else run into this problem? What did you do? I tried putting on some home repair goo from the internet but that did next to nothing.

Never go to safelite.

Try permatax windshield repair kit if crack is small.

I would get glass protective film installed- like exoshield. If you remove windshield glass coverage from your insurance, it should pay for itself in 1.5-2 years.

If as your post title implies, you are from Houston, then you will find it extremely difficult to get any response from the Houston SC. Recommend that you call Lucid’s main Customer Service number and see if they can help.

You will need to go to a Lucid-partnered auto body shop; the SCs do not replace windshields unfortunately.

This is especially annoying if your glass insurance is sub-administered by Safelite. (Liberty Mutual does this, for example.) Safelite will tell you 1) they won't fix it, and 2) if you take it anywhere else they'll charge your full deductible (in my case $2000) rather than the the glass deductible This is a lie, but you'll potentially have to argue with them later.

I used one of the OTC fillers and it's ok for now. I'm probably not going to get mine replaced until after the winter because the shop around here that does them says it takes about a week for them to do it (they can't get the glass from Lucid until the vehicle is already in service).

Ive done 3 Air windshield replacements so far in the last 40k miles driven...I only take it to the Houston SC as the windshield replacement comes with a fair bit of recalibration of cameras and some software tweaks...so a simple glass replacement for the car isn't that simple...I'd imagine it's even worse for Gravity...I'd not want to deal with camera issues after paying for an OTC/non-Lucid replacement. Do it once...so it right...which means so it expensive for Lucid...

A dozen vehicles over 50 years and hundreds of thousands of miles, and I’ve fortunately never needed to replace a windshield. (That doesn’t mean I didn’t suffer my share of rock chips.)

Is the Air windshield ultra-delicate, or is this more coincidental to the types of roads and traffic you must endure?

Safe Tech Auto glass did a great job for me. They're housed out of various dealerships in the area. I use the one at Classic Chevrolet in Sugar Land, guy's name is David. He did an excellent job on fixing a pretty serious rock chip in a Gravity. He shoots straight in his assessment of your needs. Worth a call IMO.
