Cool new key fob for Gravity... hopefully for Air too? (pics)

Posted more about this over in the Gravity forum, but here's a few (too many) pictures of the production key fob for the Gravity... SO much nicer than the current Air fob. 4 buttons, whole thing is combination of metal and plastic, i got to hold it (in the bag) and it's significantly heftier than the current Air one. While I wouldn't call it revolutionary, it's about par for what a 6-figure car should have finally, rather than the current thing that looks like it was bought on Temu for $4.00

Hard to imagine that Lucid wouldn't also be offering this for the Air at some point. Guess the question is will it only come with newly made Airs, or will it work on any older Air. I'd buy one if offered for the Air at <$100.

It does look nice! But actually, I like the Air's light thin fob. The last thing I'd want is something big and heavy in my pocket.
That said, if Gravity has UWB digital keys available, I'd just use that with my phone instead and leave the fob at home.

Real buttons!! I'd love a fob like that. But I think there is zero chance of that coming to the Air.
I still can't get the sequence of clicks on the Air fob to work for the trunk to work reliably and the car normally opens when I approach it. So I only use the fob to shut it down quickly or to open/close the frunk. One short click or one long press.

I definitely like this key design better than the current Air design... but the question is does it actually WORK better than the current key? An improved physical repackaging of the Air's finicky key into a better shape isn't what we need!

Cool! I really don't like the current fob (flop). Looks like they fixed the impossible to thread string to attach to the keychain. I hope they fixed the short battery life as well. li

Unfortunately it’s been posted here on the forum that the contract with the supplier for the Air key fob is pretty tight and lucid can’t terminate.

It’s too bad because I would prefer a normal key fob over the one for that air.

I know. If they find a way out of the deal and offer a new fob to existing customers, I'd definitely pay for one.

Any change to the Air's fob would involve replacing several modules within the car, not a minor thing,. More likely as part of a major refresh, if ever.

It's not just the fob, it's the electrical infrastructure in the car, a pretty big undertaking to modify. They are very busy with other things.

Yes they’re busy. But I’d take that bet. It just looks bad for them to have two different key fob quality levels for two similarly priced luxury vehicles. And ultimately, having one set of components and suppliers and instructions may make things easier on them. Not to mention stopping a constant source of griping from owners and reviewers about the low quality of the air key fob.

So I’ll take a friendly wager with you that by end of 2025 newly produced Airs will come with that new key fob.

I personally don't care about "real buttons" or having a heavier brick in my pocket. It's the UWB that makes me envious of the Gravity fob.

I hope Air gets UWB eventually, but I'd actually like to see it keep a sleeker, smaller footprint on the fob. And the lack of ugly buttons is actually a positive for me. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out press, long press, double press, and double long press.
