2026 Lucid Gravity GT
I wanted to love this car, but owning a Lucid Gravity has been an absolute nightmare since November. Lucid corporate clearly rushed this vehicle to market long before it was ready, using paying customers as beta testers for completely broken software. Despite being patient through three major software updates that promised to fix these issues, the car remains unreliable and frustrating to drive.

Here is what you can actually expect from a $100k+ vehicle:

Basic Proximity Failures: Do not expect the car to unlock when you approach it, or lock when you walk away. It routinely fails to recognize the key.

The "Deep Sleep" Lockout: If the car sits for just 5 to 7 minutes, it falls into a "deep sleep." I have been repeatedly stuck outside my own vehicle, unable to get in for minutes at a time while the system slowly wakes up.

Ghost Wipers: The windshield wipers constantly turn on in perfectly dry weather, unnecessarily wearing down the blades to the point that they are useless when it actually does rain.

Broken Bluetooth: The microphone is so flawed that the person on the other end of the line cannot hear a word I am saying.

Trunk Malfunctions: The trunk fails to open half the time, regularly requiring three separate attempts just to get it to operate.

A Dangerous Design Flaw for Families:

Worse yet, the occupancy sensors are horribly calibrated. My 9-year-old daughter sits in the third row, but because of her weight, the car's sensor fails to trigger the AC for her row. On hot California days, she is left sweating and miserable because the car refuses to acknowledge a child is sitting back there.

Abysmal Service and Corporate Support:

The service experience at Lucid Torrance is completely unacceptable. When faulty errors pop up, it takes 2 to 3 weeks just for them to even look at the car. For a recent fault, I was just given an estimated wait time of 1 to 2.5 months to get it resolved.

I am currently on my third mediation attempt for a replacement or a buyback. Lucid has repeatedly denied the claims and corporate refuses to provide any status updates on the process. They completely ignore their customers once the check clears.

Save yourself the massive headache and stress. Avoid the Lucid Gravity until this company figures out how to build functional software and provide actual customer service.

Sorry to hear about your experience. I pick my GGT up tomorrow and am hoping for the best. I had an overnight test drive of a GGT on 3.5.1 and everything functioned perfectly.

For #1&2, my 2026 BMW X5 was the exact same way. Was a minor annoyance. #3: have you ever had a Tesla? Talk about some terrible wipers. 😂

I’m hopeful some of these issues get resolved with OTA updates. Best of luck with the buyback.

resolved.

no lemon law protection? How long has the car been out of service?

My Lucid experience has been similar to yours including their borderline spiteful responses regarding buybacks. I heard they used to be easier to deal with.

Sorry to hear of your trouble. I haven't experience any of these issues with my Gravity.

How does one keep going back to the mediation process? I figured a decision was made in favor of one or the other and it was closed. Is mediation different than arbitration?

When I placed my order for my GGT earlier this month there was an arbitration opt out clause in the order contract. I would advise future owners to consider using this mechanism if available in the geographical location you are ordering from. You simply send an opt out email to [email protected]
And they will send you acknowledgement back. After going through the one year buyback process on my Land Rover I wanted to avoid any arbitration/mediation if possible.

Sorry to hear about your experiences. I haven’t had most of these issues with my gravity, just the wipers auto running once when it was dry. I switched them to manual and it became not a big deal. However, as others and you have noted, the third row should ventilate with better sensors for a child or a software option. That really is a safety issue

That's good advice. Unfortunately I didn't follow it. Sometimes we mistakingly think these things will never happen to us.

No judgment here, I learned this lesson the hard way while a $100k Land Rover sat in my garage for a year alternating between being parked and being in service for months while I negotiated the buyback.

I generally look for forced arbitration provisions in every contract I sign. I think everyone should.

No judgment at all, though. Most people learn this by making the mistake first.

No offense, but @michaelcavanna, you seem like a troll sowing more FUD.
I am very suspicious of comments about issues from an account that is 1 day old.
Prove me wrong, and I'll gladly apologize.

oh i don't think he's trying to affect the stock price, but I've seen that conspiracy many times

I bet he joined the forum looking for shared experience with other owners, and he joined cuz he was mad. If it gets fixed, he wont be mad anymore. People join forums for various reasons.

Gravitas, I am new because after the months of issues and Lucid lack of fixing uses, and the fact that just yesterday I was told that a system fault would take 1 month to 2 1/2 to be looked at I lost it. I posted this on Google and Yelp and found this forum through a google search.

This car has the potential to be the best in the market. When I'm not yelling at the car, I enjoy the driving experience immensely. I keep thinking if I get a buy back, I don't know what I would want. The car truly does drive like a dream. The hardware is very well thought out, except maybe the curve in the trunk door where I have hit my head multiple times. lol. If they fix the issues, I would be a happy Lucid owner. Would have loved to have those massage seats though, but they were not available when I factory ordered it a year ago.

Huh? The Gravity always had massage seats as an option.

My apologies @michaelcavanna. I stand corrected.
I had the same error/warning about 2 weeks ago; it continued for about 1 week.

On Monday, after charging from 18% to 90%, error disappeared.
It's been 3 days now.

Oh, perfect. I'm charging it right now from around 22% and will charge it full. Thanks for the tip.

I thought it was weird. I factory ordered it through my fleet manager, and they said it wasn't available at the time of order. I also a la carted all the option rather than a package and didn't deal with the dealer. We dealt with the factory and really had no knowledge of the ordering process I probably would have received at the studio

Piling onto this thread if it’s ok, I just picked up my GGT. The app won’t connect to the vehicle, says data sharing disabled? Did a factory reset, soft reset, pair/unpair vin with the service techs. Data sharing is enabled. They said they were going to follow up with engineering and get back to me. I’m thinking it’s a backend issue. Hopeful it resolves overnight. Vehicle is a dream to drive!
