Bizarre Hey Lucid Interaction

I just found this thread...

I recently had a car full of Icelanders for a long weekend, ferrying them to and from hotels, restaurants, and training site, and most of the conversations were in Icelandic. "Hey Lucid" was falsely triggered multiple times by something being spoken in Icelandic. I could never figure out what Icelandic phrase was triggering the response.

I have never had a false trigger in other circumstances where American English is being spoken.
Easy solution, no Icelanders allowed. ;)

Hmm . . . as I posted earlier on another thread, our first incident of "Hey, Lucid" triggering unbidden was while we were having a discussion about complexities of the Danish language. Although Icelandic is derived from early Norwegian, all Icelandic students are required to study Danish for 8 years (which they generally find somewhat difficult).

Maybe the Nordic gods are stirring up trouble again, and Lucid just can't do much about it . . . ?

Got a chuckle from my latest Hey Lucid interaction - I asked it to “read messages” and it changed to Siris XM and started playing a Joel Osteen podcast. Not the “message” I was looking for…😭
But… what did the podcast say? 😉

Really? Does Alexa offer unprompted ads while listening to the conversations of users?

Also, IMO, they are really not comparable. Alexa is a DEDICATED voice assistant. That is its sole purpose. Why would a CAR need to give you unprompted ads?
IMO it does. I see adds and suggestions on Amazon when we discuss things within the "ears" of Alexa.

I've heard that before. It's one of the reasons there's no Alexa or Google assistant in my home.

Exactly! I have Hey Everyone disabled in he car, at home, my phone. My wife has it on still on her phone.

The voice activation can be shut off if you wish.
Hello Bobby - How can this be feature be disabled in the settings menu ?

I was just testing out Hey Lucid and turned the hands free version back on. After telling me it couldn't get the weather, I asked it what I should do for a cold. It told me to "Rest, drink plenty of fluids, and ask a grown-up for help." Wow, I thought I was a grown-up!

How pathetic that it can’t even do a simple thing like getting the weather. Not a great look for Lucid or SoundHound AI.

At what point should Lucid just pay the licensing to access the Google Voice stuff that can be integrated in Android Automotive if they can’t be bothered with speedy software updates to Alpha services.

It may be the way I asked, because I have had it answer that before.

It died in 2.6, just says some crap about enabling location services which doesn’t seem to exist in the cars menu.

Maybe it thought I was driving the car? 🤣

That's wild, and also why I turn off the listening feature. If I want to talk to the car, I can push the button.

So I tried again with the weather. Instead of asking in general, I asked if for the weather in Carlsbad. It had no problem giving me the information. I think I didn't give it enough information when I asked it the first time.

Yeah, you can ask if what the weather is a X location but it used to respond to “what’s the weather outside” and would give you the temp where you’re located.

It appears that Hey Lucid was preparing for the imminent introduction of Greenland as part of the United States...😅
