Android Auto Thursday

I'm extremely pleased with how Android auto is supported in the 2.1.7 update.

Android auto seamlessly shares data with the Lucid system. ABRP automatically gets the data it needs like battery state of charge. Android off auto is also sending turn-by-turn directions and media information like album art over to the driver's display.

It took two and a half years to get this. But I am glad it's here. Super pleased that abrp automatically gets data from the car.
Did ABRP get the car's data through AA? Or have you subscribed to ABRP premium and are using live car data via Enode?

Back when Lucid used Alexa as the voice processor, it worked seamlessly with all my home automation. So, I was hoping that Android Auto would also allow using Alexa voice commands. Now, one thing that is different is that before the update, if I didn't have the car actively connected to the phone (like play a podcast from the phone) then the car wouldn't respond to Alexa command via the car, I had to do it directly via the phone. Now it appears that if I have Alexa open on my phone, and my phone screen open, then it will do respond to Alexa commands, even if I'm playing music through Sirius. So a small improvement, but not what I was hoping for. It was a major step back for me when they switched from Alexa to Lucid for voice commands, and I was hoping this would fix it.

Got the update last night, worked like AA works this morning. Nice to be able to navigate easily when I need to now, and to see podcast stuff more clearly.

It lets you do "ok google" voice commands now when connected right? I would assume AA wouldn't automatically do Alexa stuff but I also havent fully smartened everything in my house yet.

ABRP gets data through AA. I don't have an Enode subscription. I was weary of giving my data to yet another 3rd party,so, never got that subscription.

Works seamlessly with no set up.

For what its worth, I have both Alexa and Google devices in my home. When I ask a question, there is no doubt that the Google data source is much broader and smarter.

Interesting, ABRP on the projected screen asked for me to sign into my premium subscription on my phone to use ABRP. I did so, and it's working for navigation. But the car battery SOC it is displaying is from months ago, when I had Enode turned on.

Anyone see functionality that exceed carplay?
Certain games are available, I very much like the Google maps on AA better because you can hide the keyboard to scroll through the list of results. On CarPlay you can’t hide the list and you see one result above the keyboard so scrolling is really hard.

Wow, I guess I'm going to be the rain on the parade. I received the update around noon today, but it would not install.

"Your vehicle was unable to install the software update. We will notify you when the next update is available."

"We are checking for a solution to the problem. You do not need to take any action. For more information, contact Customer Care."

Still on v2.6.16 for a while longer, I guess.

Time to contact Customer Care. Maybe a re-push will do it.

Good to hear about the ABRP integration with AA. Have a small road trip this weekend and would like to compare it with the factory nav. Now I just need to get the update.

Just got it here. Loaded in about 40 minutes through 1 bar AT&T signal (no wi-fi) in my Faraday Cage (metal lath under stucco) garage. No reboot needed.
Waze works, although my favorite MP3 player on my phone is not visible. VLC does work well, however. More tomorrow. Phone is Samsung S24 FE. running Android 15. Happy Camper!

A small note: when your car or phone app notifies you that an update is available, it has already finished downloading to your car. The 40 minutes is just the installation of what was previously downloaded.

I would bet you need to log into ABRP on desktop (or maybe in their app?) and disable your Enode connection so it’ll switch to native behavior. ABRP does still require a premium subscription just to use CarPlay/AA at all though.

Sometimes Enode would get stuck (on my Audi) and not update. A quick reboot of the ABRP app would get things going again. Not ideal, but manageable.

Yes. I received and installed the update this morning. Tomorrow will be my final quote on patience. I would like to Thank everyone for putting with my quotes on patience for the last two plus years.
Thank you for all of your support to this thread! I don’t even have an Android phone but looked forward to your weekly inspirational quotes on patience 🥰

Huh. I didn't have to log in to my ABRP Premium. It just worked automatically.
