Android Auto Thursday

Was it that awkward smile when you ask something and they basically have a buildup of gas in their stomach because whatever they say next is most likely an exaggeration?

The best guess of Lucid's definition of soon is 1 day to 5 years. 😂🤪

Here's hoping it's 0-7 days **huffing that copium**

I went last night. The software wasn't available on the cars (I didn't spend too long on that but 99% sure the displays were black). I did ask about AA just to a few of the lucid people at the show (no one high level) and it seems that it should be pretty soon on AA. They didn't say exactly but got a big smile and said soon. Yes I know we've been hearing that but the smile was pretty genuine. In my mind, I translated that smile to anytime 0-7 days but I'm just guessing. Oh also, I head from a different person that there would be an update coming that has some additional drive assist / DD capability (and no, not FSD). Not sure if they would wait to push those together, as that doesn't seem 0-7 days but more like 1-2 months?? All just guesses. Fingers crossed regardless.

Those are some big deli sides

What do you need all that roast beef for?
Actually it's two in the back and one in the frunk. Should be their new slogan.
Just got back from the studio and they are doing ride along. It really is a beautiful car.
Software was really feature rich- ie so many options but familiar at the same time for anyone with an air. I tried pairing my phone but features were limited in show room mode.

So sometime this winter some OTA is causing my carlinkit to not connect properly. My phone still connects to it, I can see Android Auto is active on my Pixel 7. But Lucid doesn't recognize it until I replug it multiple times. Anyone else going through the same?

Yes..I went thru the same thing after that update.

Check your Carlink kit for a recent update to its firmware. After I updated the Carlinkit firmware, the wireless connection has been much better.

Ahhh! Really feature rich software... So many options... That must be nice... By comparison, me and my Air Pure are reminded of an old George Gobel quote. "Do you ever get the feeling that the world is a tuxedo, and you are a pair of brown shoes?"

No smiles or smirks from anyone when I asked about Android auto. Just that it might come in 2Q25 and it might be at the end of the Q. 🤷‍♂️

I have been (im)patiently waiting for a long long time. Having been a 2022 adopter, I don't comment often, but one of the Lucid Air employees seems to suggest AA will at least be in the Gravity in the 3.0 update. Hopefully not an inaccurate statement, and will include the Air models as well...
Mentions it just before the 26:00 Mark. Fingers crossed

Sounds like the limiting factor isn't Google (anymore), but Lucid itself. They are redesigning the UX for Gravity. I think this is what everyone is expecting at this point, but I would doubt any of these timelines are accurate. This 100% depends on when they will start shipping Gravity to customers which is still an unknown. So if Gravity shipments to customers aren't expected until let's say late Fall, then I would expect this update to not show up on the Air before then. This also begs the question, if 3.0 is going to be this dramatic of a change in experience, what will the update cycle for Air be over the next 3-6 months? Are we at 2.6.x until 3.0? Also, the way he's explaining screens having different content, I wonder if older Airs CPU can handle this type of behavior without input lag. To me, that portion of the video added even more questions than answers.

AA for Air and AA for Gravity are not at all the same, and you should not conflate the two.

Different codebase and computers for the Gravity as I understand it. They hope to bring back some of the new features to Air, but I agree with @borski that we often didn’t have OTA with ICE vehicles and to expect a total redesign for out 3-4yr old cars is a bit much. They’ve basically delivered in one way or another everything they shipped the vehicles with. Except for a few ancillary things which they’ve assured us they are working on.

I’m hopeful and eager to see more from the software but my Air is serving me just fine. Gravity’s drive along software and production car software was amazing tho. Still Beta but “I see greatness in you” level beta.

The only conflation should be related to the ability of lucid to get something through Google. We don't know why air is held up (except that it's related to Google certification) but could the same issue affect gravity in the near term or down the road?

Anything is possible, and yes, Google would have to certify Gravity’s too. But I see absolutely no reason to suspect they weren’t working on it in tandem.

Beholden to those Google snobs <shakes first>

I've got the same problem.
