Android Auto Thursday

I actually don't even care about AA anymore, but I would like the Google Maps to replace the current system, and maybe even have a fully mapped route with any/all stops load into the NAV system. There are a number of locations I go to where the system literally does not recognize an address, and I've needed to use my phone to locate.
Remember you can update the maps differently from the routine update. I just did, never even checked (I don't know if it changed much)

My sister just brought over her new Cad XT5 Luxury....I really like the layout and features. And I was very upset since it was Sat not Thursday, and she showed me BOTH Android auto and CarPlay and all the features were super easy to access. Love my GT but I am really anxious to see features available on other cars made available on the GT. We have been patient and lived through 1.0 software so give us a Christmas break....AA, Dashcam, HomeLink simple, DreamDrive pro features enabled, etc. I have been good.
Seriously, Lucid GT has Tesla beat on quality so why delay the software development of features available on numerous other models. Is there some proprietary problem or just no software engineering support. I have to admit, I was impressed by the many software features in the Cad.

Also native Google Maps and Google Assistant. Likely Waze, Youtube, etc.

My own guess is that the bulk of Lucid's software development resources are currently consumed by developing UX3.0 for Gravity, to have it fully baked in time for the car's first shipments late this year. They absolutely must knock this out of the park. Once that is mostly completed, they can decide how much of UX3.0 can be ported back into the Air, and how best to do it.

GM has announced they are doing away with CarPlay and android auto in their vehicles.

Uhhh "for your safety", huh? That's bullshit. They want all that sweet, sweet data to collect for themselves. I'm sure they also see it as a way to force subscription services like Spotify to give them money.

And they're lazy. I don't doubt it's difficult to integrate AA or CP correctly, but my Ford truck handles AA perfectly. My Audi did too.

Bad move. Perhaps OK if they use Google maps in the nav and the app allows addresses to be sent to the car from Google maps
This is exactly what GM is doing - Like Volvo and Polestar, GM vehicles will have native Google maps, and you'll be able to send routes (not just addresses) to the car. With this and a few more AAOS apps, there is no need for Android Auto.

CarPlay is another story - though Apple is free to make an Apple Maps app and Apple Music app for AAOS, they won't, because that would mean interoperating.

I think iPhone can also use Google maps app and send to the car in that case

I’ll never buy a car without CarPlay. Period. That’s why no Rivian or Tesla for me. I’m hoping that Gravity has CarPlay 2 when it’s released in competing cars.

Gravity almost looks purposebuilt for 2.0, considering the large continuous screen! I would be shocked if it didn’t have it!

Yes, Google Maps on any device (any phone, tablet, windows or Apple PC, etc) should be able to send a route to the car.

Maybe Lucid is ahead of the game with not rolling out AA. It doesn't matter to me since I just enjoy the car and the driving. Once again, thanks for all the great YouTube videos and support on this forum.
Maybe. Who knows. We will see if GM has to reverse its decision.
Our software wishlist survey is coming soon!

In the context of Android Auto Thursday, that quote feels like the five stages of grief...

Our software wish list was addressed by LUCID with relatively easy ones. They didn't do it by demand/priority set by this group 😂😂

You’re right, they don’t care, and we should stop trying.

Noted.
