“The doors are low to get into car”
It’s nice right? Especially compared to a Model S?
I wasn’t sure if that was positive or negative at first hearing it.
Yeah, so honest breakdown of this. I have grandparents that are fairly up there in their years and have a difficult time getting in/out of certain types of cars.
Porsche Taycan - Was extraordinarily difficult for them to get in and out. It is a sports like car, and this is expected. The main issues were 3 fold.
- Low to the ground
- Small door clearance
- Tight seats
Tesla Model S - Was semi difficult for them to get in/out of. There were a few issues with both seating and clearance:
- Still fairly low (honestly)
- Small door clearance (it isn't a 90 degree opening)
- The actual seats in the back are slippery and do not hug you... at all
- There's a lip on the back doors that you have to get over. The actual clearance for a straight line where your feet can clear getting in is horrifically bad.
Mercedes EQS 580 - This was perfect regarding getting in/out but IS a very big sedan.. it's not a sports car:
- High up off the ground and there's little "squatting" required to get in
- Door opens fairly wide
- No real lip and plenty of room to plant your feed
- Easy to slide in and fit into the seats
Regarding the Lucid, the door clearance problem is completely removed with how wide the doors open, but it is extremely low to the ground in a sporty fashion. This does making getting in/out difficult ... but isn't must of an unexpected thing when shopping in this category or comparing with a Model S. If you were comparing with a compact SUV or something less sporty.. well duh.
