A Bit of Perspective From a Long-ish Term Owner

Yeah I just hit the ignore on people like this watermelon guy who’s apparently focused on creating “content” not after solutions at all.

People like @socktucker are not the same as watermelon guy. At least I don’t see him trying to create a bunch of utube.
I thought @watermelonrooste was @socktucker 's evil alter ego...😂

Let's not exaggerate, the software has definitely not caught up. It certainly is better, but it is missing many features that are available on competitors and even vehicles at a much lower price point.

I also don't care about FSD, but many do. To remain competitive this needs to catch up, and soon.

The hardware has started to lag as well. Air is still using an antiquated locking/unlocking system that has been the source of much complaining since the beginning. Six years later, no change. NACS has become the standard for almost every electric vehicle, even their own Gravity.

I do love that you are so positive about the brand, but we all need to be objective as well. If Lucid is to survive, they need to keep up and even surpass the competition in software, hardware, sales, and service.
I respectfully disagree, at least about the Gravity. The Air is generation 1. And you never expect a 5 year old design to be current. Bit like complaining my 10-year-old Tesla doesn’t have FSD 14.

Regarding FSD functionality…..only Tesla fanboys care about that to that extreme. Not saying Lucid shouldn’t develope it, but not having it is not that big a deal that complainers complain about.

‘ Oh….but it doesn’t have FSD’” …….so what….. 99% of vehicles sold don’t have it and it’s not like Lucid us not developing it. People need to be realistic instead of focusing on something that isn’t safe right now, Want to killed or kill someone else…. ahead and use FSD.

You were chastising out of spec for not doing a software reboot on their Gravity to fix the lane centering. That’s not indicative of software working as it should. Every day we see posts involving software on the Air and Gravity not working as they should. I have two other cars in my household that rely heavily on software. Neither of them require software resets - ever. Lucid still has a long way to go. Suggesting otherwise denies reality.

And with regards to Tesla and FSD, there are a lot of owners here that own Lucid’s and Tesla’s. Trashing their Tesla ownership experience and use of FSD is petty and small. Their enjoyment has no bearing on you.

I don't know if you are aware that there is a file size limiattion on these forums and videos are large files. So you need to upload externally, like youtube and share the links. Who is going to get rich with this content?

I can go off the rails occasionally, but I am also reasonable when it comes to someone saying hey, too much. I consider @borski a friend and also try not to poop in his sandbox too much 😂
It’s your turn to rake

I'm glad you guys revived this thread. A lot of good discussion going on here. Lucid ownership (vehicle or stock) is NOT for the faint of heart. And a tip of the glass to those who have a Lucid as their only car. Nerves of steel required. Still, I would do it again, everyday, twice on Sunday.

I've only had my '23 AGT since January and even in that short time I've seen improvement after improvement after improvement. But I still have to wonder how the original owner felt during their three or so years of ownership. My ownership problems have been few and in a couple cases self-inflicted. My Service Center experience has been stellar albeit some understandable delays and a few text messages that have still not been responded to, even though later messages have.

I know someone in this thread pointed out that it is a driving car and not a computer on wheels. I would submit that it is actually both. The idea that it is a BETTER vehicle 3 years down the road than it was when the original owner received it is testimony to the computer on wheels / software defined vehicle status. @Bobby would not have been able to even post this thread if it were not. Most, maybe all of the improvements he listed were made possible through capability of a software defined vehicle. At the same time, I would opine that it is the gut level sensory experience of driving these vehicles that has so many of us, even lifelong car guys like yours truly saying "best vehicle I've ever owned".

In a perfect world on a perfect forum, those who have concerns and complaints would come here and say "here's what I'm experiencing...anybody got a clue / suggestion?" instead of "this thing sucks and a pox on Lucid leadership's houses". And there is a lot of the former here and I appreciate that. I will try my best to contribute in that vein, both in lofting concerns and trying to help others if their concerns parallel something I've seen, heard, or resolved. Until then, motor on.

Yeah, like I said, people making a big deal out of nothing!

Do you know how many times I reset the software in my Tesla?

Double standards all around.

“Oh my god, I had to do a soft reset and now it works! “ what a disaster!

And please realize, 99% of the world don’t care about FSD right now. Maybe they will once it actually works as it supposed to without intervention.

When I said that Lucid is a driver's car and not a computer on wheels I also said that the OTAs improved it. The Air's dynamic capabilities are superior to all but the Taycan but it has many more attributes for everyday driving that the Taycan does not have. It is first and foremost a drivers's car designed and built by those who appreciate the experience. Everything that the OTAs have accomplished has improved the ownership experience, which for me at least means driving the car safely, effortlessly and with joy. I also said in a much earlier post on the subject that Lucid has created a Porsche-like approach without the need to deliver more improvements in new bodies/upgraded versions of the 911 every three years. (The ~$1000 CCC is an example worth noting.) Its exterior design so far looks fresh to me and no doubt will have successive iterations that are an improvement but will have the same cues. It is obvious that hardware improvements to the Air will be necessary and will be delivered by Lucid in time. I also said in another post that until and unless a FSD system is delivered at 100%, no thanks.
