I just read that in 2025 all Lucids will be able to charge at Teslas chariging stations with an adapter. Does anyone have a new model where this is working? I had a Plaid I gave away due to motion sickness from regenerative breaking. I'm sold on Lucid, already ordered a few hours ago, and awaiting delivery. I'm buying sight unseen and never have driven one. Never even called the dealer that's about 5 hours away, so here's the big question. How do I charge this thing. With the plaid, I was able to get a converter and plug it into a line in the garge. Not a standard plug, more like one for a washer dryer. If your laughing at my lack of knowledge, I know all things business and nothing electrical, clueless.. Is that the same for Lucid?

You will need to purchase a charger with a J1772 connector. Post of picture of the outlet you used to charge your Plaid and we can make some suggestions. Some outlets are not suitable for EV charging. The best choice would be to hardwire a charger into the circuit that you used for the plaid. This will not be difficult for a good electrician to do. In any case, you will need to purchase a charger.

In the past, the Lucid comes with a J1772 charging dongle that plugs into a NEMA 50 (and a std 110V plug). Isn't that all @adamico needed IF he already has a NEMA 50 receptacle for his Plaid in the garage?

The 2025's do not come with a mobile charger so it has to be purchased separately.

Thanks for the clarification....didn't know Lucid is skimming on a charging dongle! :-(

I also just bought (delivered a few weeks ago) an Air Pure sight and drive unseen. I use a level 1 110 V charger in my garage, and plan to use road chargers when travelling. I dont see my own need for a tesla charge yet.

P.S. - I came from a Honda Clarity electric (Hybrid) with good user controls over Regen. The Lucid regen controls are not as good and take some getting used to.

P.P.S - My car came witnh a $1000 charger credit, so I used that to by a (massively overpriced) $650 Lucid mobile charger at zero net cost to me.

How did you charge your Clarity before? BTW, like you, I used to have a Lexus RX450h and a Clarity. Now, I have a Lucid AGT and a Rivian R1S.
I drive long road trips between AZ-CA. Still, the Clarity was/is (my son has the Clarity now) my favorite road-tripping car. No range anxiety, good mileage, the blended electric/gas driving gives you good acceleration and economy!

They give you $1000 credit instead, so you can pick either a Lucid LCHCS (wall charger) or the mobile charging cable.

I would’ve preferred this, as I have literally never used the mobile charging cable, and bought the LCHCS anyway.

Lucid's own mobile charging cable has the additional capability of Vehicle to Vehicle charging (with a separately purchased RangeXChange adapter). You could use your Lucid to charge another EV in an emergency.

A hardwired EV charging station (EVSE) from Lucid or from many other EVSE manufacturers would be optimal for safety, convenience and reliability.

Otherwise, a plug-in like this top-rated mobile cable would work well:

My Clarity was 100% always charged with the Honda 110 V wall charger. I always plugged it in every night. It was a late 2017 purchase (2018 model) and I kept it for 7 years. I had wanted a Volt, but it was impossible to get one here. I'm glad I got the Clarity instead. Honda had engineered the Regen. perfectly using the steering wheel paddels. It was also impossible to detect when it switched from electric to gas. It was a perfect car for its time. I have high hopes for the Lucid.

Some of my earlier cars included: a 1963 T-Bird Convertible (poorly engineerd - worst car I ever owned), and a1966 Volvo P-1800 (Indestructable, no matter how hard I tried.)

P.S. - My most wanted Lucid features are:

1 - A list of voice commands

2 - V2L

Cheers,

Also to add, new cars have been coming with 1-2 years free EA charging based on the trim. So, if you have an electrify America station nearby, that is a free option to charge until your own home charging is setup. I agree with @borski - $1000 charging incentive is great and it gives customer a choice.

Electricity - what's that? Ben Franklin had something to do with electricity, didn't he? (That's the extent of my electrical knowledge). Welcome to the club :)

I owned a Honda Clarity, a truly great car IMO. However I find the regen much stronger in the Lucid than it was in the Clarity. I was always annoyed by having to use those paddles to control regen. I never understood why there wasn’t a fixed setting for regen, particularly at its highest setting.

Lucken:

You may be right on the Lucid having stronger regen.

How much that is appreciated may depend where and how you drive. Most of my trips are short and below 50 MPH. I find the standard (actually high compared to the Clarity) to be too abrupt and the cause of the sea sickness others mention. Most of my driving is with regen off or low.

But, when I go out on intercity ventures I have switched to standard and am learning/starting to enjoy 1 pedal driving.

That being said, finer control of Regen (e.g. via steering wheel paddles like the Clarity, or voice control) without going to the screen would add much value for me.

Steve, I think with experience comes fluidity in using the high regen smoothly. My passengers can't detect any difference between me using high regen to stop the car than they would if I were using brakes. I always comment to my wife how much more relaxed I feel, particularly in heavy traffic, with regen. Not having to constantly switch from the accelerator to the brake is priceless. In fact I often use that as a selling point of EVs...at least that those that have high enough regen for true one pedal driving.
