2025 Air Touring or should I go up to GT?

I'd base it on how much range you need. Touring states 400 miles, but it's realistically 300, and if you're on a road trip you'll likely only charge to 80% which means you're probably going 240 miles before needing to charge. If you don't need the range, Touring + massage seats is the hero spec.

for 1 percent of your time in the car you will regret not having a tighter or lighter turn.. OR for 99 percent of your time you will notice little trim or comfort items that you will wish you paid for. Been there done that with a couple prior purchases
This was EXACTLY my thinking today when I swapped out my Pure (on order) for a GT. As I was blazing through a set of S-curves on a test drive in the GT, I felt it was a bit “bloated” feeling and the balance in the front end and overall feeling of composure at speed in tight corners was better in the Pure.

But 99% of the time I don’t go screaming through S-curves trying to push a car to its limits. I DO, however, often need to merge into a tight spot on the highway, or get around a flatbed truck doing 70mph on the highway that’s dropping debris off its bed and the speed and composure with which the GT does that while being supremely luxurious? Well, in a word? Priceless.

I am coming out of a Tesla Model 3 Performance. The 0-60 time is incredibly close to the Lucid GT (3.2 secs vs 3.0 secs), but the ability of the Lucid to keep pulling strongly way, way, way beyond 60 mph makes my MP3 seem a heckuva lot slower than I thought it was. And, fit, finish, luxury are all not remotely in the same league!

My biggest takeaway from this and other similar threads? For a purchase of this magnitude TEST DRIVES and an honest self assessment of your likes and needs and financial condition is paramount.

1. If you can afford the Pure, but cannot or do not want to spend more? Test drive only that and if you love it? Buy it.

2. If you can afford the Touring, but cannot or do not want to spend more? Do good long, multi-faceted test drives of both. Think about what you like and what’s important to you. Choose between them based on this. By way of example, my first day of test drives I drove only the Pure and Touring. I ordered the Pure. I preferred the regen strength of the Touring, but the nimbleness of the Pure through the turns won the day and I did not think that the relatively unimportant (IMO) increase in power and extra expense were worth “downgrading” the driving experience.

3. If you can afford all three? Test drive all three. I had zero idea that I’d prefer the GT to both the Touring AND the Pure. The Pure was still more nimble and better through the curves, BUT, the added range, loads of extra power and other little extra like massage seats and power frunk all added up to me switching my order from the Pure to a GT. The rear seats are NOT as comfortable in the GT and if I was going to be hauling around 4-5 grownups many times a week? That would be a concern. However, I have people in the back of my car just once or twice a month for short distances. The point being, I actually sat in them myself, thought things through and made personal decisions.

With reasonably priced RT domestic air within the US or a reasonable drive to a location where you can test drive all three models, isn’t it worth the $$ and/or time to ensure you choose the right car? For most of us it is one of the most expensive purchases we’ll ever make and my take on how to weigh the pros and cons of each model WILL be different than yours, of that I am certain.

I am about to pull trigger to order a Touring. However, when it comes to seat option I am kinda stuck.

After trying several seat configurations, I felt the adjustable bolster (side support for lower back) really elevates the sense of sportiness,
with Touring the 20 way seat only comes with Purluxe.

I don't mind Purluxe material, but with it the dash, center console and door trim only comes in fabric which is not my favourite.

Is it worth it to upgrade to GT for the the above reason alone? I don't need 820hp, nor the range as I can charge at home every night,
GT would scarify slight backseat comfort as well but I don't carry adult in the back often.

I tend to keep car for a long time my current ride is 2010, hence wanting to spend on something I won't regret.

Any input is much appreciated, and I am looking forward to finally become an owner.
I went with the GT. The extra horsepower is worth it.

My last car had recaro seats and I liked them so much, the bolstering was great. Got a touring thinking it was good comptomise of weigh and power. I didn't even consider seats.. I mean they are fine for test drive. But after getting car quickly realized they kinda ruin sporty feel if you slide around so easily in seat. I won't be keeping touring after 18m lease ends. Get a grand touring perhaps or something else.

To get 20 way with massage seat (bolster adjustment) you have to get Purelux.
