As I said before, I was never offered the update. Back when they released the update several were complaining they didn’t receive it. I think the answer was that the update wasn’t for every vehicle, so I went on my merry way. Turns out, I did need the update, a very important update. I’m willing to bet there are others, here, that weren’t offered the update that need the update.
I just received the notice. My car is still on 2.8.16.
I reached out to customer care to get them to push the update to me. I, too, thought I didn't need it, since my car never received it, and I read here that it truly was only for 'some' cars.
Meanwhile, my car has never experienced the bug in question. So it's entirely possible my car really
doesn't need the update. The recall likely needed to be sent by law; it doesn't mean our cars necessarily have the issue. Rear cameras are a requirement now, so there are legal implications for not reporting this issue to customers.
I've gotten plenty of recall notices over the years where I took the car in and the tech told me there wasn't actually a problem with my vehicle. But it's always good to check anyway.
Having said that, I do wish Lucid would stop with the updates that are only for "some" cars. To me, it just makes so much more sense to give every car every update, to make it dead obvious if someone is on the newest version. There's no harm in a patch that fixes a bug your particular vehicle doesn't have. So long as the patch was done properly.
I'm guessing customer care will get back to me and either push the update to me or tell me I still don't need it. Either way, I don't think it likely my car is going to have this issue. If it does, I'll just use my eyes the old fashioned way.
