2.8.0 Software Update

Its not about "didn't miss a date" it's about.....keeps fuckin happening
agree. fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice... you get the idea. it was a mistake to publicize july 31. maybe it met some internal goal, but it doesn't help the customers. Fortunately for me, i'm away from my Air for 10 days starting tomorrow. i'll just leave the car plugged in at home, and maybe when i return, the update will be available and i can trigger it when i see it!

Can anyone explain in simple terms what the AC charging thing is all about?
if you need to limit your amperage charging at home, but if you L2 on the road (work etc), it just makes it easier to have one (lower) setting for home and then it'll automatically revert to high when you are not home. This way you don't plug in to public L2 and forget to change your setting to high. Or, even if you don't forget, if you do this frequently, it's a pain to keep switching it back and forth. So, convenience for L2 charing home and out.

I'm not "complaining" about the update NOT being here at 0001 on said date. Its stupid to expect that and I've never expected that.

I'm complaining that the Lucid Defenders think holding Lucid accountable (yes even by complaining on said forum) or expecting a company to meet "fall 2024" deadlines is just ENTIRELY unacceptable and will mobilize in it's defense immediately 🤣

"Don't buy a car for future software updates" is the line of choice here for some people.

The company calls the Air "a future ready software defined vehicle" like 75 times a month so uhh.... strange take lol.

You’re now being explicitly offensive and walking a thin line. Consider this your final warning.

Nobody is “mobilizing to Lucid’s defense” as a “Lucid Defender.”

Some people just disagree with you. I don’t think it not being out yet is that big a deal. You do. That’s okay.

That has to be okay, and you have to be okay with others disagreeing, without calling people names or coming at them personally for their opinions.

If you cannot do that, that is a separate discussion.

Please stop.

Ban me bro this group offers me nothing 😂 Every time someone says anything in Lucids critique there's like 4 of you that just immediately pop up it's so consistent for nearly 3 years it's super tacky lol go ahead ban me this is a Gravity thread now anyway

Offensive?? What's offensive in what he said? I'm a new owner and I got to tell you this forum has eggshell Tesla vibes. Dude said nothing offensive about anybody unless you're triggered by his observations.

There are too many uptight people here, and stifling divergent opinions is a Tesla thing, isn't it?

Maybe you're referencing some other post but I reread the one you quoted an im sorry, it isn't offensive nor is attacking people personally.

I hope maybe as the new guy I'm wrong about the vibe but there's a lot of pearl clutching on this site.

So I have a kick-ass inaugural cruise coming up on 8/31 on Royal Caribbean's Star of the Seas and I'm planning on donning some Lucid Gear as a "Lucid Defender" like I always to! Great conversation piece. And folks wonder how I set the referral record last year! I did by "Lucid Defending!" 🤣 😂

Great. If it offers you nothing, leave. Don’t waste everyone’s time. Nobody is forcing you to be here.

Life is too short.

Don’t like it here? Fine, we’re very open to feedback. Don’t have any feedback other than “I don’t want to be here?” Okay, you’re free to leave.

And no, “you disagree with me sometimes” doesn’t count as feedback.

Nor does “you’re a fanboi” when literally in the same breath people are posting about a terrible lease return experience or @hydbob is dealing with a HUD bubble, or whatever.

But you do you. You can easily leave and not troll.

Thanks for your consideration on this matter.

Welcome! With all due respect, you’re new here. There is history and that wasn’t their first post. The offensive part was the implication, again, that none of the people that disagree with him have valid opinions, as he prefers to deride them as “lucid defenders” rather than listening to what they have to say.

There are too many uptight people here, and stifling divergent opinions is a Tesla thing, isn't it?
Go read a bunch of threads. Nobody is stifling divergent opinions. This isn’t the first time the mods have fought this fight. There are tons of divergent opinions, many of which are negative. What don’t do is stifle positive opinions, just because they disagree with negative ones, or vice-versa.

Maybe you're referencing some other post but I reread the one you quoted an im sorry, it isn't offensive nor is attacking people personally.
This is not the first offense. I would never lead a response to a single post with “this is a final warning” unless it was egregious. This wasn’t egregious and I’m responding to a pattern we are all very much sick of.

And it isn’t just the mods. Countless members have complained about this too.

I hope maybe as the new guy I'm wrong about the vibe but there's a lot of pearl clutching on this site.
That’s not at all the goal. I suspect over time (or by reading some past threads) you’ll find that’s true.

For the record, I agree it would have been better not to name a date, or to state explicitly that it will begin rolling out on that date and it would take 4 weeks or whatever.

People want to have dates, but don’t like it when they are missed. It’s not a trivial decision.

For sure. its a bit of a catch-22 really. people can be happy or unhappy in either scenario.. but if you make a public statement like this, follow up on it! if you set an expectation, its in lucid's self interest to meet the expectations that are set.

i for one, would prefer they get it right before pushing something like this out. this is far different than suffering audio quality issues, or enabling geolocated homelink etc.. this one affects safety. it would have been better served to keep it quiet and just release it when ready. There was a lot of positive press around this announcement, and hopefully they follow up quickly with the rollout. like usual, I expect that this is a controlled rollout to catch early issues, before releasing to a broader base of VINs

do you have a sense of what might have happened? Last minute changes? Rollout started and nobody here has it? Latter seems unlikely given past rollout patterns

It feels like it might have been one of these...
CEO/Marketing: "We'd really like to announce a release date in Q2, can we hit Jul 30?"
Product manager: "hmm.......I THINK so....."
Marketing: "Jul 30 it is! Hurrah!"

I'm exaggerating a little, but it could be they were was some optimism, or it could be that something changed and they had to pull it.

Otherwise, I don't quite understand how they could have press releases and make a big announcement, then silently miss the date.

It's interesting stuff. And, of course, we will forget all of this once we have it in our hot little hands. I cannot think of another feature that I've been quite so looking forward to, a real game changer for road trips (as someone who loves driving the heck out of the car).

You'll be much happier once you realize that Lucid is perfect.

came here to defend lucid. just kidding. that said, I am totally fine with not having the update yet. they published a date probably for marketing purposes. and maybe because they thought they could. or maybe to meet some internal metric. whatever way, I think the interim CEO is doing a very good job at driving focus toward things that will matter in the market .. ambassador, tesla charging, new feature release, probably gravity production and things behind the scenes (most likey) on the midsize. these are all GOOD things (and already in the works by Peter for some parts). so do I really care whether it's here before the date, a day or week or several weeks after the date? not really. it's coming (and if it's 3 months after the date, that's a different matter and some type of disconnect for sure); if it's a real problem, the market or regulators will address it. and I can drive my car just fine without it. and I will love it when it is released. and until then, I will drive the s*#t out of my lucid every day and enjoy doing so. not sure why I felt the need to soapbox here, maybe too much coffee just now. thank you for reading. admin / mods, please feel free to delete (or let me know to do so) if this is way out of bounds.

There's plenty of pearl clutching. But not in the way you think. And that's the problem.

You probably want to spend more time in a room before spewing judgements like you know something you don't.

Your characterizations about stifling opinions are demonstrably false, as anyone who has been here a while knows. Want to count the positive and negative posts and see?

There is far more negativity on this forum than there will ever be positivity. That's just the nature of the internet. And that's fine. We're all good with people having their opinions, and we know people who are butt hurt are much more likely to post than those who are having a great experience.

Our goal here is to help people who are having real, serious problems with their cars find solutions. We're owners helping other owners. That's the driving force of the site.

Entitlement and petty squabbles about not getting your update on the exact day specified in a press release (the real pearl clutching) are better suited to platforms where the algorithm will be more than happy to feed your grievances, if what you are looking for is reinforcement.

Rage verification is oh so 2020. And oh so boring.

Worried you didn't get the update when you should have? That's a valid question. Others here can verify that none of us has received it yet. Nothing to worry about.

"WAH, LUCID PROMISED ME AN UPDATE AND THEY DIDN'T SEND IT!" is also okay for a while. But once you've made that point, belaboring it endlessly is a waste of everyone's time.

We have guidelines for a reason. This is a community. We don't call each other names. Period. We don't tolerate endlessly frustrated people who won't tolerate those who are offering a different perspective.

It's okay to disagree. It really is. You just also have to respect others who disagree with you.

Get to know folks. Take a minute to feel your way around the room. Most people who make fast judgements about the place turn around when they see how we actually operate.

Someone got sick? They decided to pack one last bugfix in? They found a bug last minute? The release process is running and builds take a long time? I have no idea.

Sure, that’s possible. It’s also been… 24 hours. Maybe they’re testing it on employee cars first. Who knows
