Curious on people’s feedback on the new update 2.8.0.

Those that got the update, how is the hands free drive assist? What is your experience? Does it work well or does it keep on disengaging drive assist?

2 hrs to update--that seems substantial. Is this a typical amount of time for an OTA?

I have used it to drive me home from SF and it didn’t disengage once. There was one phantom braking issue (a car left my lane but was doing so very slowly, and the Air had no idea what was happening so slowed down from 75 to 65 or so). That was the only time I intervened.

But yeah, it drove me home from SF for about an hour. Used it again this morning.

So, all this time you are hiding this under the carpet that you have hands free 🤔 (Expected :))

Also very glad it worked to that extent :D

Sunglasses an issue?

I received it within the last 24 hours, just like many of you.

Ok 🙂
Just got the update and installation in progress.
Posting here too 😁
Okay, what happened!

Lucid knocked the ball out of the park. No one will believe this is their first iteration of Handsfree; it’s that perfect. The car was planted and very confident than me. I drove with zero issues.

Distance: 35 miles on I-4 (between Orlando and Tampa, with less traffic).

I’ll go with what’s missing first: there’s no automatic lane change unless you trigger the signal. Some zones are not yet marked for handsfree (a complex intersection with a sharp curve and multiple lanes joining). Maybe Lucid is being curious and unmarking them.

Positives: I’m very confident in the marked zones.

Following lines are way better than previous versions, even at sharp curves.

I found this surprising: it detected construction and mentioned it, asking me to take control. It disabled hands-free, but Drive Assist is still active.
It monitors you. I closed my eyes, and it caught me.
I closed one eye, and it caught me. 🙂
I closed one eye half, and you know what happened. 😅

If they call it the first version, I couldn’t wait for the coming versions. I need them!

Thank you very much to the Lucid team for their efforts. They put it into this and made it almost perfect. I’ll keep posting my findings back home if anything changes. 😊

I did the update at work while my car was unknowingly parked at a place with bad signal strength. The update took over 3 hours. I didn’t know about the weak signal until I called roadside assistance to ask why it was taking so long.

While using hands free during my commute home in the HFOV lane, I had to intervene once by hitting the brakes as I was quickly approaching a stopped car. The warning did come on but it was approaching too fast for comfort. ABS wasn’t needed.

My impression so far is that it lane keeps the same as before except there is no more hands on the steering wheel nag.

I am impressed. Intentionally initiated a lane change at a spot where there was an exit ramp beside the lane being merged into, just to see what would happen. The Lucid started the lane change and immediately came up with the red take
control now. Very impressed!

Just got it. Will install soon and test out the hands free drive assist feature.

Received my update this morning. Installing it now. Just in time for my long drive tomorrow.

I find that lane change assist is much improved. It is not as aggressive in moving to the adjacent lane as before. I now feels natural and the way I usually drive. I also think that lane centering is improved. It is rock solid for me on the freeways around Phoenix.
