Getting prices on lucid home charger install. Third quote was from Qmerit (they subcontract out). This was a cheaper than other quotes because they quoted 2/3 copper wire while other more expensive 3/3 copper wire. According to Qmerit quote 2/3 is spec by Lucid. I’m not sure which to go with. Any insights appreciated.

I think 3/3 costs more. But this stuff is outside my area of expertise. I’ll probably go with them - they are subcontracted to Qmerit who Lucid recommends.

3/3 is 3 wires and a ground, 2/3 is 2 and a ground. The third wire is usually for neutral.

The LCHCS, to my knowledge, doesn’t use a neutral line, so 2/3 should work fine. @Worldwide Beagle and @DeaneG are the experts tho.

Thanks I went with the Qmerit contracted company. I was surprised they were the most competitive but maybe Lucid has an arrangement with them. The other company I didn’t go with were great - he told me I’m over thinking it -2/3 wire is fine for the job. Anyway they will here at 730 am to do the install and I am looking forward to having a “fill up station” at home. It will be charging in garage beside the volt and my other Ice cars.

The 2 or 3 is the number of conductors in the wire.
Here is what the Lucid Charger Installation guide says.

Yes Qmerit contractor assured me they meet Lucid spec. I have 200 amp service and he came by - all contractors who bid did- and liked the panel set up. Hopefully all goes well and I can get the 120 km charge per hour.

I believe "2" is the gauge of the wire (2 is heavier, with higher capacity than 3). The electrician who installed the charger at my new place went with smaller wire so I'm limited to 40a continuous. That was okay with my old car (94kWh battery), but my AGT takes a lot longer to charge, so I'm thinking about upgrading it. Kind of an unnecessary PITA but it is what it is.

With 80 amp (100 amp breaker) I routinely get 75 to 80 mph of charge.
My kids were here this weekend and the charger can in handy to charge multiple cars without waiting all day / night. Especially with the Tesla being limited to only 48 amps.
For those who say 80 amps is overkill - I would rather have the capability to charge multiple cars, charge when I want (off peak time) and get results faster. Lucid is one of a few cars that can accept 80 amps (19.2 kW), I think not being able to utilize that is a shame.

+1, you'll never hear me say "I wish my car charged slower"!
