‘Upgraded cameras in GGT with very high resolution compared to Air’. ???!

I think contrast is a huge issue at night. The cameras are just too “dark”. If you could adjust contrast, it would be much better - even in lower res.
When I watch the Halo videos, they oddly seem much clearer than the blind spot cams look in real time - so I am hopeful it’s a software thing.

As others have said - they’re fine (to me) for what I need.

yeah one of the things I'd say Tesla does better is the camera system
So I’ve said this before, and I am sure the Tesla software IS better, but the cameras HAVE to be better on the Tesla because they’re the ONLY ADAS system and are fundamental to FSD.

It appears Lucid does NOT use the cameras as much (at all except for front one) for ADAS. So they could absolutely get cheaper cameras in Lucids.

Remember, the only DD setup that will “see” traffic lights is DDPro - that’s probably a front camera upgrade.

They need to do what Tesla’s cams do at night with the sort of night vision type look going on.
If they can. But Lucid’s cameras probably don’t need to “see” at night like Tesla’s do. That’s my point about ADAS. Maybe someone here knows the Lucid ADAS system better. I have no idea how/if cameras figure into it. I do know there’s no radar or lidar on Teslas now - so cameras have to be incredibly accurate.

When developing a sophisticated ADAS or autonomous driving systems, there's basically no circumstance where you're happy to have a camera with poor resolution or poor night vision. Regardless of whether you have complementary sensors or not. If this was a "solved" problem, then the engineers could change gears and and start economizing on sensors. But that's not where we are today.

Right and also, I have a Pure without any ADAS. I’m really speaking from the perspective of standard daily driving use at night.

I agree, but I’ve also heard folks rail against Tesla for only using cameras and I think it’s unrealistic to expect Lucid to have the same quality camera as one used mainly for ADAS.

That said, the Lucid cams are no doubt disappointing with respect to night time. Day is fine. As I’ve said before, I’m not watching the Super Bowl or some event in 4K - is there a car next to me? That’s all I need to see.

That said, I understand the expectation from folks and the desire for legit cameras versus what was available in an early iPhone or on my kids’ fisher price my first camera…

It could be just something I imagined, but I thought a recent OTA further improved the blind spot cameras on my 2024 pure. Especially in conditions with decent light. If the Gravity hardware is superior, and I would think it is, given that it is new, I am sure they can fix it in software.

To me, the Air's camera's are fine.

They are fine during the day. At night they are utterly useless.

I mean , what the heck am I supposed to do with this?

They need the same sort of glare protection you get from regular rear view mirrors but via software. Otherwise, I wear my sunglasses at night…

Raise the suspension or talk to the driver behind you about the blinding lights, but blaming a Lucid camera is silly.

1. Can't raise the suspension in the Air
2. Half the vehicles in this crap hole state have overly bright headlights. Not much I can do about that.

And the lane change cameras in my wife's car are significantly better at night, so I know the there are cameras that can provide a usable image for this kind of thing.

This is an issue on Lucids and not my Tesla or Rivian. Nothing to do with ride height or brights. Just messed up camera settings which I hope can be a software fix.

Can DDPro see traffic lights? Pretty sure it’s limited to traffic signs. I don’t need traffic light alert anyway. In a Tesla rental I had it mistook the moon for a green traffic light and told me to go when in fact the light was red.

The feature list says DDPro will be able to see traffic lights at some point. Traffic sign recognition is standard on DD and DD Premium. Pro says “traffic light detection”…

I don’t think it’s reading speed limit signs. I think it’s just using map info for it. If it is reading them, I agree it needs some additional training.

I believe it reading them. The first speed change outside of town is partially obscured by foliage. My Air always catches that change in the winter, but misses it 70% of the time in the summer.

Hmm I'm pretty sure it's reading them. I see it change as soon as I pass a sign on the road and I can't imagine map info is THAT good. It's also not a crazy hard tech - had rented a normal ICE car some years ago that had this feature as well.

I have found that during the day there is very little noticeable difference between my air and my Gravity blind spot cameras, however at night there seems to be much less ghosting and glare of headlights in my new Gravity’s display. I’m a fan and hopefully this will only continue to improve with future software development.
