Real world range touring 19 inch wheels

For me it’s more about battery health than gaming the efficiency numbers. Warm batteries deal better with the stress of rapid discharge that happens under load. The upside is that a conditioned battery also improves your “on dash efficiency” numbers. Of course since I normally charge my...

Out of Spec - Gravity vs Escalade

...20% more frontal area (65" vs. 55.4" Height) means 45% more drag for the Gravity vs. Air. I bet "Out of Spec" 70mph range will be 400mi which means real world interstate range is closer to 300mi (75mph, discharge to 10%, first year battery degradation) I agree it will be the longest range 3...

Beyond the Charging Curve: What Are Your Real-World DCFC Speeds?

I think this is a really important point. I also use EA nearly exclusively except for rare occasions charging to 90 or 100% before a trip. I've lost a bit more than 1% in 21 months and <12k miles. The flip side of a conservative charging curve is how good my AT is on battery degradation.

The API shows a value named "battery health level". What is it?

Ah. Different from what I was told this time last year, that I would be getting “a brand new battery”. I pressed the point with the Lucid service advisor I was working with at the time in Costa Mesa. I asked him to confirm that it was a brand new battery I was getting. And he blithely did...

    Range Questions after first trip

I switched from Tesla to Lucid partly for range, since regularly drive 520 and 240 miles one way. My 310 rated Tesla would not get me the 240 miles without slowing down, but my Tesla efficiency from 2014 to 2024 ranged from 65-70% to 90%, usually 80-85%. Headwinds (and speed) were biggest...

    Range Questions after first trip

No, but belts degrade over time. Oil can't sit forever, and neither can gas or your lines get clogged.

    Range Questions after first trip

Ac not withstanding all fair points, but the difference is that battery degradation still happens when you’re not driving it; where ICE cars don’t loose gas when they are parked I guess

    Expectations on Mileage loss?

Most EVs will lose up to 10% in the first year, and then a *lot* less after that. However, we have been told time and time again by Lucid that that battery health number should not be relied upon. We don’t know what it means. 🤷‍♂️

    Expectations on Mileage loss?

I would love to know this as well. My 5 month old pure is at 95% battery health. Very rarely DC fast charger and only charged at 100% few minutes before 4 long trips. I got 5500 miles on the ODO. I would love to know if the 5% degradation is normal, assuming we can trust the numbers from the API.

    Expectations on Mileage loss?

For me, I had near 0 degradation for over the first year and a half I had the car (newly bought GT in October '22). It was just May of this year that I started to notice that there was some degradation, and then, again later this summer. In the past 2 weeks is the fastest I've ever seen. Based...

    Expectations on Mileage loss?

...year 1, 2% in year two, 1% in year 3 and NOTHING after that. When I sold the car earlier this month I was still able to charge to 94% of the original charge level (at 69,000 miles). My point is that battery degradation is not linear…it’s often front loaded…as long as you take care of it...

    Expectations on Mileage loss?

The first year of degradation is always the highest. After that it slows down *significantly*

Beyond the Charging Curve: What Are Your Real-World DCFC Speeds?

After one year almost exclusively charging at EA, I find myself wondering the degree to which my limited charging speeds are the result of EA's limitations vs. Lucid's software attempting to manage my battery life. I find that it doesn't much matter what my starting point is. It's going to take...

For longer battery life: drive it like you stole it

What a relief. My battery pack is destined for a very long life. My tires . . . maybe not so much.

For longer battery life: drive it like you stole it

...driving, the researchers found a correlation in their data suggesting sharp, short accelerations may actually lead to slower battery degradation. Pressing down hard on pedals with a lead foot didn’t seem to speed up battery aging. It may have actually had the opposite effect." Everything you...

10,000 mile review - the good and the not-so-good, but nothing ugly

Unfortunately, as much as I love my car, I have completely given up on the idea that I will ever charge faster than 150 kW or that I'll sustain a moderately high speed while charging. I've received many different explanations, but none of them really change the fact that I bought a car that was...

    Issues with my car

On the 5% degradation of my 10 year old Tesla battery, I exaggerated slightly, but the exaggeration wasn't intentional. When our car was delivered in December 2014, at 100% SOC, it showed 248 miles range. 10 years later, it shows 230 at 100% SOC. (I just checked it this morning). So, after 10...

2025 Air Touring or should I go up to GT?

...one reason to think off If you are going to have it for long term like 5 years or more I would take GT no question as because of battery degradation and you still then have enough range Besides it sees to me the trend will be fast charging and small battery for the new generation of cars...
