Over a week with Gravity, my thoughts

...Bay to North Lake Tahoe in a Gravity. By the numbers, I'd think it should do it without a charging stop. It'll certainly manage if a person is willing to drive slower than 80. My hope is that it manages after there's 10% battery degradation, and cold winter weather between Sacramento and...

    LUCID Gravity Lease vs Finance

    Firmware Updates in Germany

I can confirm US cars have a different update path than Europe. LucidLogger / TeslaLogger is tracking versions and 2.7.1 are only available in US and 2.7.2 only in Europe. https://teslalogger.de/lucid_firmware.php If anybody want to share their firmware / charging curves / degradation of...

    Charge Limit

...issues, regular oil changes, and brake and rotor replacements. With an EV, you're already way ahead in terms of long-term reliability and maintenance, whether you’re leasing or owning. Battery degradation is often overhyped. In practice, it’s not something most owners ever need to worry about.

    Real World Hwy efficiency numbers

...cold weather efficiency numbers. A big part of the Gravity's appeal is a range rating big enough to still provide a great range after cold weather, a heavy foot, and a bit of battery degradation have all taken their toll. Maybe one of our Argentinian brethren will get a vehicle and report...

Taking Care of the Battery - Suggestions from Battery Engineer from Lucid

Think also about the transmissions and oil changes you’d have paid for in a ICE vehicle over 20 years.

Taking Care of the Battery - Suggestions from Battery Engineer from Lucid

I cannot swear to the accuracy of this report, but it's worth considering. It's from INSIDE EVs dated June 19, 2025: According to Geotab, a United Kingdom company providing vehicle telematics, most EV batteries can last 20 years with minimal annual degradation. That’s six years more than the...

    Battery Capacity Question

Thing is, it has been this way from the day I got it, so unless it was degradation on the lot (in which case it can be argued that it should not have been sold in that state), it can't be that.

    Battery Capacity Question

My Lucid Air Dream Edition (Range Model, 19" Wheels) with a 520mi full charge is now at 489mi at full charge, with about 38,000mi on the odometer. The battery was replaced at 18Kmi, so about 20K for the current battery. That's about 6% degradation. My range dropped from 520 to about 513 after...

A good way to check battery health?

I think the max capacity is almost more telling. After 2 years my GT battery was replaced last June and max capacity was 101kwh. A year later I'm at max capacity 100.1 and when I charge to 80% I only have 80.119kwh available. So by my calculations I've lost ~15% of battery capacity but my...

A good way to check battery health?

👋 Yes, hi! Share away. It's public info. I'd suggest sharing much longer term data from sources like this though: https://www.nimblefins.co.uk/study-real-life-tesla-battery-deterioration After all, Airs are only about 4 years old at most.

A good way to check battery health?

After 3.5 years and over 20k miles my battery health shows 93.6 but my kwhr capacity shows 105.8 kWh which assuming a 118kWh original capacity implies a 10.5% degradation. Not sure if that shows a discrepancy between battery health and capacity, but in any case I guess a 10% loss in 3.5 years...

Lucid air pure 2025 buzzing/whining sound when entering the car

...are also *very hot*, and that means… nothing to cool! :) If you’re not DCFC charging though, you should let it cool the batteries down instead of turning on preconditioning, to reduce battery degradation. That said, do have service check it out just in case, if they’re already scheduled.

    Lease return difficulties

...buyer. I am against a lessee being limited or charged based on how they used the battery. There are way too many factors to battery degradation for that. Should people in hotter climates be subject to a fee, because it degrades the battery faster? Not at all. It would upset me if Lucid...

    Lease return difficulties

Hard to tell if that final question in your post is condescending or not. I like your posts in general, so i'm going to assume it wasn't and was asked genuinely if I am following your thought pattern. I hear you on the battery warranty. That's a reasonable point, but at some point these cars...

    Lease return difficulties

...is the battery health. They should ding lessees who always charged to 100%, figuring it was just a lease and therefore long-term battery degradation would just be someone else's problem. THAT would be in good service to the second buyer of the car, though I imagine it might require changes...

    Lucid Navigation vs Google Maps

I have tested this empirically, with data. I have tested not preconditioning, preconditioning for 10 min, 15 min, 20 min, 30 min, 40 min and 50 min. Preconditioning for about 40 min makes a huge difference in charge speed. Past that it doesn’t do much. Fewer than 15-20 min and you may as well...
