Hardwire your home charging station! Or use a Hubbel / Bryant / Cooper 14-50 receptacle, not Leviton

Tongue bit! Hubbell does say CU only but in very small letters lol!

Hardwire your home charging station! Or use a Hubbel / Bryant / Cooper 14-50 receptacle, not Leviton

Excellent! I would add: Do NOT let your electrician substitute aluminum wire. Although it is allowable by NEC, the lugs on your EVSE will probably be too small and you may void your EVSE warranty.

Car Washing...what are your tips and tricks

If you're washing once a week, you definitely need to protect the finish. Old timers (like me) and car show guys swear by Meguiar's Yellow Wax. Their latest product is Hi-Tech #26. I've since switched to Ctechniq C2V3 (suggestion from my younger neighbor who is a car nut). Seems to last well...

    Charger FAQ/Explanation

I have a 3-car garage so I installed an Autel 40A to cover the two-car bay. I checked to ensure the length of the Autel charge cable was sufficient. For the single-bay, I installed a 14-50R receptacle so I can use the Lucid mobile charger in case I wanted to park the Lucid there. I'm sorta...

Hardwire your home charging station! Or use a Hubbel / Bryant / Cooper 14-50 receptacle, not Leviton

Bobby, Here's my short stab at it for starters. Others please chime in to add, subtract or correct. I am using 40A as the de facto norm. Others can add for 48A charging, etc. For 40-amp charging, you need a 50A breaker, #6 Romex or #8 THHN/THWN-2 (in conduit). This is for wire runs of less...

Hardwire your home charging station! Or use a Hubbel / Bryant / Cooper 14-50 receptacle, not Leviton

Instructions say 75in-lbs, doesn't say it's the minimum. I'd say torque it to 75, wait 15 minutes, re-torque to 75 and call it good. No need to overthink it.

Hardwire your home charging station! Or use a Hubbel / Bryant / Cooper 14-50 receptacle, not Leviton

Almost 100% correct. You can run #6 Romex (not in conduit) for 50A breaker drawing 40A at the charger - or you can run #8 THHN/THWN-2 in conduit. You'll not only save a wire size but #8 is more pliable than #6.

Hardwire your home charging station! Or use a Hubbel / Bryant / Cooper 14-50 receptacle, not Leviton

Great idea. I did something similar in my other garage for an air compressor and a welder with full understanding that I would only use one of them at a time.

Hardwire your home charging station! Or use a Hubbel / Bryant / Cooper 14-50 receptacle, not Leviton

40 years as an enginerd! Not electrical but had to learn the NEC handbook extremely well. I guess some of it stuck 😆

Hardwire your home charging station! Or use a Hubbel / Bryant / Cooper 14-50 receptacle, not Leviton

Easy way to tell: The correct receptacles are 2.44" in diameter, almost two and a half inches. The cheapies are 2.1" or barely over 2" in diameter. They will use different sized cover plates.

    Unreliable speed limit displayed

This has been my experience as well. When I pass a temporary 55mph sign on the highway, the car instantly reports and asks if I want to set the cruise to the new limit.

Road Trip to Prescott and Flagstaff, AZ

I'm on 20's. Ride wasn't bad at all. Not as smooth as our Lexus RX450h but that's an SUV, about 800lbs lighter and softer springs to begin with. Plus a higher ride height.

Road Trip to Prescott and Flagstaff, AZ

Yes, but the temptation was too great lol! You're absolutely correct. Going slower would have saved me a splash at Kingman, so I would have arrived in Prescott about the same time, maybe even sooner.

No, I don't engage CC until I'm on the interstate and I turn it off before I exit. Like you, I don't use it in city driving.

    My Road Trip Experiences

Lucid is my first EV (since December, 2022) so I am a noob. I find I'm learning stuff almost every day. Like Borski says, the faster you go, the less the mileage - for all vehicles, not just EVs. Temperatures matter, so does elevation changes, especially drastic ones like the drive from Vegas...

    Unreliable speed limit displayed

This has been my experience as well. The Lucid seems to memorize the latest speed limit sign. IMO, it does this pretty well. Two problems that I've noticed: When going from a surface street onto an Interstate highway, its speed is governed by the last speed limit on the surface street...

Road Trip to Prescott and Flagstaff, AZ

After the last couple of software updates, I've noticed that the regen is not as aggressive as before. The car rolls a lot farther before it comes to a complete stop, I've had to use the brake pedal a few times, something I don't recall having to do ever before.

Road Trip to Prescott and Flagstaff, AZ

Slap on forehead! No, I did not think about doing that. I do that with every car in my garage - except the Lucid. I'll do that today and make it a regular occurrence. TBH, I haven't checked it since I've owned it (December, 2022). Thanks for the suggestion.
