What could cause this rear undercarriage piece to break?

OP: Have you attempted to call Lucid directly to report all of this and see how they plan to address it?
No luck with calls. However, today finally I got an email stating that they don’t consider it as warranty claim. So that’s that. I have to figure out where to get the part and how to get it fixed. They haven’t offered me either to fix it at cost or a quote so that’s I can consider lucid to fix this (at a cost). Asked the question now and have to wait and see

eBay might have the parts and if on a lift it might be a simple fix
I have a habit of looking under cars as they drive towards me and see more flappy parts under cars than I expected.

True. 😝😝. Never thought that would happen to my car. But we’ll…. Have checked on eBay but many already have cracks around the same lines where piece on my car was broken out. I will update what I hear from them now that they have atleast acknowledged that it’s not under warranty. Probably someone will respond to me quicker as it doesn’t need additional paperwork on their side.

Yes. I do understand the logistics part of it. However, what’s painful is that there is no communication either to me or to the body shop. Like whether they have seen it, processing it, possible timelines or if they are contending the warranty claim etc. Nothing is clear. I am afraid of taking my car on road in fear of damaging the exposed inner parts (with gravel, debris etc). Meanwhile lease is ending in next few months. I wanted to keep this car but with this experience, I am reconsidering. Hopefully they get back to me or to body shop before it’s time for me to return the car.
Ok, completely understand your concern and frustration in regards to your hesitation on driving it.

What I would do is make sure you collect the paper work and findings from the approved Bodyshop (Conan's). They should have created a Case Number when they examined and diagnosed the vehicle. Get this number for your reference along with your estimate (part numbers, labor costs ect.)
Draft a document of the events that happened (when you first discovered the damage, what the vehicle went through before hand, ect) with your photos as well.

Right now it sounds like you might be in limbo. Bodyshop isn't going to start anything until they see some money.

Being that your lease is ending, I would get the ball moving and pay for the parts (at Coldwater or Goose Island) and labor so the vehicle is at least in queue and Bodyshop can begin to order parts and start repairs
I would have Lucid Service MGR review it for reimbursement under warranty.

They (Customer Care) are going to tell him to have the vehicle diagnosed and assessed at Service & Bodyshop. They (Service MGR) would have to determine whats covered under Warranty and whats Customer Pay. Customer Care can't make that decision over the phone.
