I did not take that personally at all, I am curious about the different timeline statement though? Once again, not in defense, but genuine curiosity.

In regard to my story, there is no timeline change. I'm not making this up because I like to stir things up on a forum...this really happened and while I may wander around a bit while typing about it, the timeline is not in question at all. Would be interested in how that is perceived? Also, not sure why it would be expected for people to not be nice either, but to each their own.

I posted about this not to bash anything, It really is a big deal to me because the car is really, really nice....and I think I was hoping for some understanding, which I think I have received some... so thank you.

And not to pile on, but AA nor car play worked. It would bug out and freeze up all navigation. We even tried with cables. I'm sure this is just a bug on mine because no one else is complaining. We ended up just using the phone as a backup navigation. I'm not saying its the end of the world and I am pretty proficient at reading maps and road signs too, but I guess I have got lazy with Tesla's nav lol. And no its not perfect, but it's pretty good, plus I am used to it, so there is that.

Once again, FSD really is not my priority...enjoying driving the car is. What the lack of FSD on this trip did, and the connection to this story, is that I had to drive the Gravity a lot and found it to be like driving my old 2018 370Z (manual trans)...it became not enjoyable and felt like a lot of work after a few days. Then when I get home and tell this to my wife she told me that she feels the same way. I love her and don't want her driving something she doesn't like just because I am very fond of the Gravity.
Like I said before, I guess when I get down to it, I was just looking for a little compassion from the community, that's all., it's not an easy realization to come to for me.

I certainly sympathize with you. I had a similar experience but with a Kia EV9. I liked the idea of the car and bought it on a whim. While I can't say it was a bad car, it was just not for me. It rode well, was quiet and very comfortable across the board with several great features but it wasn't the most fun thing around town and the tech was not up to my taste. Sold it in two months and lost a ton of money, but it was a lesson learned from me and no regrets with the experience. It actually taught to me be patient, do more research and make sure the vehicle is going to be a while in my garage before I commit to a purchase. I could easily see myself in your shoes had I bought the Gravity. I actually wanted to get one for my wife, funny enough, but ended up getting her a new Model Y Performance instead and it has been her favorite car to date. She loves Lucid and we would like to own one someday, but don't think that time is now and as impatient as I normally am, I have learned to be okay with waiting.

The better question now would be then...what is going to replace the Gravity once you sell it? Or just going back to the Tesla for the time being?
 
I'm currently having the opposite experience. We learned right before our weekend trip that our Gravity needed service and had to take our Model S instead. We are really missing the Gravity. We had to go to a supercharger whereas the Gravity could have made it there and back with no charging. I miss the 360 degree camera for parking, the comfort of the seats, massage, etc. The kids miss their tray tables, and my daughter couldn't get comfortable for her nap in the backless booster in the Tesla. I really hope to have our Gravity back before our July 3rd trip

The touring only gets about 300 miles real world, it’s the Grand Touring with the bigger battery.

Had the same experience with a BMW X5. That’s what we unloaded for our Gravity.

Also curious what’s next

I read this as one of the stronger recommendations for the Gravity I’ve read. Not because these aren’t real issues… “The car feels too big vs the Model 3”- completely agree, I prefer small cars, but if you need the space the Model 3 or similar simply isn’t an option. “FSD isn’t as good”- I’m in the would rather drive myself vs trust a machine (that has tried to kill me before) camp anyway… “Navigation and route planning isn’t good”- I find Tesla’s nav pretty poor and I typically over-ride their charging strategy on road trips anyway, using A Better Route Route Planner, Apple Maps, etc when possible. So ironically this is one of the better “for sale” posts I’ve seen. Also one of the rare posts on this forum that doesn’t make me want the car less.

Maybe I missed it, but what’s your color/ options? Let us know what offers you get…
 
With the raccoon accident repair they got done on the Gravity, it's going to show an accident in Carfax. It will be valued less than a regular one without an accident.
 
This really does boil down to different strokes for different folks.

Lucid is not Tesla. It’s not a Tesla replacement. Full stop. For some of us, that’s a very good thing. For some of us, it is not.

I never use Lucid’s nav. I do my own fast charging planning. I only occasionally use Dream Drive pro to make my commute home from work a little less tiresome with stop and go traffic. I’d never want any car to drive me all the way from point A to point B.

But you’re not me. And that’s okay. You have to find a car that works for you.

And I get the wife preferring the model 3 over the Gravity. Some people just hate driving big cars. I wish my Air were smaller every day.

This is why I’m hopeful for Cosmos. Though I fear that will still be bigger than I’d like.

In my opinion, if Lucid wasn’t an EV, it would never get compared to Tesla. It’s a better car in every category except software. Really its closest competitor is something like a Taycan or i5.

Yes, if I had my druthers, Lucid would always be thought of as a more practical Porsche, rather than a more luxurious Tesla.

But Lucid itself seems to want to chase Tesla's success, rather than being satisfied with being a niche "driver's" brand. I get it; needing to make back all that investment money and such. I just don't know that it's realistic for them to try and compete at the very things they are currently not particularly excelling at. Between the robotaxi obsession and all the talk of Level 4 self-driving in Cosmos, I fear caring about efficiency, luxury, state of the art engineering, and just all out fun driving are going to get lost in the mix.

And that's a real shame to me. It could have contributed to Emad leaving, now that I think about it.

Yeah, that's kinda me too. I don't like self-driving so all those features are a non-issue to me. I just want auto-speed (ACC), not auto-steering.

There's 2 main reasons I bought my Gravity: 450 mile EPA range, and generous interior space/storage/shape. There's very few EVs that compete with that (although 400 would be a fairer EPA for this car). The cargo space is highly impressive between the rear area and the clamshell frunk, plus under the rear floor (we got ours without 3rd row seats). Most of the rest of the features (when they work right) add to the package but those first 2 things were the biggies. 80% of our miles are road trips, so range and cargo space are big for us.

The problem is that so many things that should be a given for any car (even at 1/3rd this price) are often a problem in this car, and the frustrations add up. The fob, the sound system feeds, the nav, and more. Fortunately Android Auto rode to the rescue to bail out some of those for me by offering a more usable alternative. Not ideal, but an acceptable compromise. When PAAK finally arrives it should help further (if it works).

“Owning a Lucid has been super disappointing” really nailed the overall sentiment for those of us that wanted a 100% reliability and functionality like comparable manufacturers have. Their software has ruined the experience.

For some. I haven't had any issues with my Gravity's software (or hardware) other than wishing it had google maps.

I never expected 100%. I've owned enough EVs (well, two) to know that there will always be some quirks and be somewhat of an ongoing work in progress. But I didn't expect it to be on the easy things. And the everyday things, that have magnified impact. Like fobs to unlock the car, and connectivity to be able to listen to music without frequent failures (since inexplicably there's no SXM antenna like most cars). Those are things that just grate on you when it's drive after drive after drive.

I doubt that shows up on car fax as while it was expensive the way the lovers are built into nose, it really was not a lot of damage and did not affect how the car drove in any way. Our mobile tech said that if it had been an Air, he could have done it right in our driveway. Maybe someone with CarFax could check for me?

Its a Supernova Bronze on 21/22s. Has all options except tow package, Ojai interior. Full PPF and ceramic tint on all glass. Its coming up on 12K miles.
To update on selling, Carvana and Autonation are both working on proposals, but I told them I wanted $100K...and they are still talking so who knows. Some other company (name eludes me at the moment) offered $33K so I jumped on that!! NOT.

I'm enjoying the responses so thank you. Honestly none of the early adopter stuff was that bad for us. Tesla kind of broke us in I guess. I'm not saying that it does not sit in the back of my mind, but it really does not have much weight in my decision (other than navigation).

Also, I hope it has been noticed that I am not trying to sell anyone on Tesla or FSD because that's not what this is about. I love everything about the Gravity...I do, its just not that fun to drive to me, and more importantly... my wife. I only discovered that after a week of hell in Baltimore traffic, so I am actually going to clear my head from the trip and take it out again for the day next week and see if I have a new or different perspective. That happens with me lol. The only thing is my wife does not want to drive it so I have to figure that out. I'm also going to not use FSD in my Plaid for a week and see how I feel about it. I'm crazy like that, but all of your responses have got me in that kind of mindset. I seriously like driving it, but I'm going to force myself NOT to use FSD.

Oh, as to what's replacing it, she has been driving her old 2023 Model 3 LR, but she is interested in the YL....but that's a big car too, so it might be a no-go. But we will be letting her drive one before we buy.
I ordered this one months before it was delivered, and I never told her until a week before delivery. Story goes, after I orderd it, I kept trying and trying to get her to go to Miami with me to test drive one and she was just not interested. I was getting worried... I finally got her to test drive one at a pop up event in Tampa a week before delivery and she liked it. She also knew I liked it so she told the sales guy that we will order one and take advantage of the "same day" specials, at that point I had to let the cat out of the bag.

For the record, neither of us are disappointed in Lucid in anyway, if anything we see that they make one of the nicest cars I think we could ever own...that is not disappointing at all. The only disappointment is in ourselves in so much as we could not find the same driving joy as we do in other cars.

Okay that’s fair. The 1% that sometimes doesn’t work on my Tesla is the podcast app, and on my BMW sometimes I have to restart SiriusXM.

Compared to the Lucid where the doors don’t work half the time, random lock outs, etc etc.
