Gravity: Helpful Tips for Automated Car Wash?

That's how they sell the PPF and Ceramic..which is why I didn't do anything to my Gravity, except the door edge guards and sill plate guards

I do PPF our better cars because, as I've mentioned before, we live near sand quarries and often get caught in convoys of dump trucks that spray sand like hair spray. Our Air paint still looks brand new, but our windshield looks like it's been through a sandblaster when the sun hits it a certain way.

But carwashes destroying paint? Nah.

Agreed. It should also be noted my original trepidation about the automated wash was due to the lack of a 'carwash mode' (having had that on my Tesla). I've never been one to fuss about paint or anything like that. Not that it's *not* fuss-worthy, mind you -- it just hasn't been my thing.

I'm just not as precious about this stuff as some folks, I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️

These are massed produced cars we're driving sans the Sapphire; with that said I've owned a several low volume cars and those have always been hand washed, but my daily drivers hell no.

You’re incredibly brave. Glad it worked out bd appreciate the update!

There’s no way I would let anyone drive our Gravity through an auto wash. I’ve got no problem with the auto wash, but don’t trust the folks at any of the ones near me to drive it. It will need a thorough washing after this road trip, but I will do it by hand while still in my honeymoon phase!

Talking about brave; didn't you once put a motorhome on cruise control?

Okay, so I’ve done my first hand wash and my biggest gripe is the headlight area on the car is so tiny and has so many little crevices, it’s really hard to get in there and clean it. Same with the area right above the trim that says “Gravity” in the front. Not huge issues.

I would encourage everyone to hand wash at least once. I found three areas with somewhat lose/squeaky trim I would never have found otherwise. Now, once could argue if I hadn’t found them, I wouldn’t be bothered by them…

This wash also made me hate my platinum trim even more as it’s somewhat annoying to really clean. Scheduled to have the platinum areas wrapped in two weeks. Can’t wait.

Also, and this is because I am short, I had to buy a wipe wand to clean windshield and top of car - can’t reach across and clean throughly!

Ha...wondering how much I'll care/dislike the platinum coming with my orphan. Would have preferred stealth. Have you gotten an estimate on wrapping just the platinum yet? Curious...

And I'm 5'8, also. We are not short. lol. (Already had one of those wands for cleaning the M3 windshield...guess I'll keep it around)

It’s going to cost me $2,000 to wrap the platinum on a leased car. Goes against all of my posts about not wrapping a leased car, but to me, the platinum looks awful on AG and Black. Can’t believe it actually costs more. But I took an inventory car, too, so whatever.

Thanks for making me feel better about my height. My 6’4” nephew was laughing as he could easily reach all parts of the car.
