Kia EV9, future Air?
I know that on this forum we have forgot about the Air already, but has anybody noticed that for the 2026 Airs, a new rim option has been added? I saw it on an article about Lucid getting superchargers, and it is a 19 inch rim called the "Aeronaut." I searched the forum and didn't find anything about this, so please do excuse me if somebody has already posted about this. Interestingly enough, despite being the same tire as the normal 19 inchers, it has the same range as the 20 inch tires.

What do you guys think of the design? Personally, I don't like it. It really doesn't suit the Lucid, and looks more suited to a Honda Civic.

its probably cheaper.

I think it’s great they are offering another option in 19”. A lot of people disliked the current design but wanted the security of a thicker rimmed tire on the pot holed roads that cover most of America.

I think this will work wonders for those people who wanted another design than the flat disc of the 19” aero wheels.

Glad lucid is taking our comments seriously as they implement model year 2025.

Personally, I think almost any design would be better than the old(present) 19 inch which to my eyes looked very generic and unremarkable.

I like the new 19s. I still like the 20s best.

Worth noting, the Aeronauts will cost you about 35 miles of range compared to the Aero Range. Which is why they kept those old 19s around.

They needed a wheel that looked better and still allowed for all-season tires. These fit the bill nicely.

My aftermarket 19” wheels.

I think wheels are a very subjective topic.
Yes, that is why I said "personally." :) Do you also like them? I am honestly shocked that so many people do! And yes, I agree with @joec that the 20s are better than this (with the 21s being the best, for me).

I live in NJ and the problem with anything other than the 19s is that I need all season tires. Sure, I could buy winter tires and change them out every season, but that’s a bit ridiculous IMO.

Well, the range is more greatly impacted by the open spoke configuration than the minor difference in rolling resistance between the two tires. The Aeronauts have a very similar structural design to the 20" Aero Lite wheels. Broadly speaking... they took the Lite spokes, widened them, and skeletonized them.

I'm curious if there is any sort of "aero cover" on these new wheels. From the images, it looks like it would have to be the glossy black inset; but perhaps that isn't removable and WYSIWYG.

As for the tires, I'm not surprised they re-applied the existing Pirelli All-Season model from the other 19" wheels. That said, I've heard more positive feedback about the Michelin Pilot Sport EV summer tires that come with the 20" Aero Lite wheels. Prospective shoppers may want to take that into consideration when optioning wheels.

The answer is that Lucid offer a 20 or 21 inch all season tire. BMW and Porsche all offer a choice between all season and summer tires in 19, 20 and 21 inch sizes.

Please be careful, again. It sounds like you’re giving advice from first hand experience, but my suspicion is (correct me if I’m wrong) you’ve still never driven either. That can and will mislead people into thinking you’re speaking from personal experience.

Please try not to do this. You can, of course, post other people’s experiences, but passing them off as your own is disingenuous.

You know I like you; I say this with no derision.

Couldn’t agree more. What would really be amazing would be if that did that and also were somehow able to accomplish that with the same range as the 19s.

Yes. If you're speaking purely on looks, that's fine. But maybe make that clear?

Meanwhile, I know I'm the odd one out on this, but I have never liked the 21s, looks wise, compared to the 20s. Or the GT-P wheels, for that matter.

Yes. Everybody has their won preferences. I prefer the following:
1.my 21's
2. 20's
3. GTP's
4. 19"s
5. and lastly the Dream Wheels which to me the Zig-Zag design is a misfit with the smooth lines of the Air.
