Why not drop price of Air instead of "Air Credit" on invoice?

No difference on insurance. Payout is replacement cost not acquisition cost (yes first year maybe higher, but not after that). Not sure how states with "value"based fees operate, since I don't live in one.
That's not always true; some insurance plans, like mine with PURE, are "agreed value" insurance, rather than "actual cash value," and thus they may insure the MSRP without the discounts, as the replacement cost may change and you could argue for them to insure it at the higher value in case the discounts go away.

Wish I was UHNW…

Lack of a long driving history always kills rates with boutique insurers for me. Guess I just need to grow up. (Can rent a car on my own tho! Yay!)
Haha, we have literally all been there. :)

Yeah I am confused about why not change insurance. My Honda Cr-V is worth 1/6th of my Lucid and yet its insurance is 2/3 the cost. MSRP isn't a factor in the insurance cost from what I see.
I think they factor in how often the car is stolen. Honda CR-V is one of the most commonly stolen cars in the US. I bet Lucid isn't.

That works even in more favor for the EV....I suppose I could stash an airtag in the CR-V so I can track it on an app like the Lucid....I don't think that State Farm would lower my rates then.

I don't think they make pricing decisions based on individuals tracking or not their cars. They use countrywide statistics. In general, EV theft levels are much lower than the ICE ones.

No, but they would if you got OnStar or LoJack or some similar vehicle recovery and/or disabling mechanism. There is almost always a discount for that.

Confirmed with my insurance company that a big factor in insurance rate is the actual MSRP of the vehicle (not the price paid). So when Lucid keeps the MSRP high but then just "discounts" them by putting in a credit in the invoice, it's really hurting us all when it comes to insurance rate we're paying.

Any idea why the company chooses to do this? Other companies (Tesla for sure) just change the MSRP whenever (and as often as) they want... Tesla has sometimes adjusted prices on certain models just weeks after a previous price change!

Just curious why Lucid wouldn't just lower the MSRP on the Air since they seem now to always have $10k-$20k of "Air Credit" being applied.
I mean, have you thought about the other side of the coin? What do you think happens to current owners when they slash the price of the msrp?

As a Tesla owner, I can tell you very well what happens - your resale value gets kneecapped.

Well there's a lot of things that Tesla does different from the mainstream in a good way, constantly screwing around with the MSRP is not one of them. It's severely undercuta your current owners.
